The roller coaster to destiny has its highs and lows, but I stayed in the cart of purpose through it all!

The steps that I took and the things I learned weren’t just for me; they are for you also. I hope you give this book some attention and gain some tools needed to screw your future into place. CHAPTER 1

    Dreamer

I was approaching graduation date in 2006 as a senior in high school and was just impregnated with what I thought would be the biggest dream in my life. I had walked out of the principal’s office with someone else’s opinion of what I should be according to my career move for post-high school. I never knew where I should be or where I should go, and that question haunted me all of my childhood days. What am I going to do when I graduate?

When that principal talked to me about my future, it stimulated my brain and also my heart and emotions that ran through my blood. What he told me changed the whole direction of my life. He told me how great I was in acting and how I should pursue that path in life because of the talent he had seen me exhibit in a previous theatrical play. His expressions of me gave me a new outlook of myself. The old me then had passed away, but the new me was being born into adulthood. I had a new dream I wanted to fulfill, and chasing it then seemed mandatory. I had to feed this dream, water it, and most importantly, I had to protect it.

I had this dream in my heart and wanted to always keep it close. I wanted to always keep this dream no matter the conditions of life. It was my baby when compared to a first-time mother. This dream kept me alive in a way and woke me up in the early mornings. This dream I thought would direct me to destiny, but what I didn’t know was that this dream would take me through a very tough season of my life.

As I was getting older, I understood that dreams were so important. Dreams can take you to the highest of the highest, but some people abort their dreams because the dream can also take you through the lowest of the lows. No matter what dreams take you through, always remember that it will be the ride of your life, the rollercoaster to destiny. It can be a horse that takes you to the waters or a boat that takes you to the shores. The dream that God gives you always gives you direction in life.

As I got older and continued to dream, lions became very interesting to me. There was a particular day when I stumbled across the Nsefu lion pride that lived in Zambia along the Luangwa River. This pride was iconic and symbolic, and it reminded me of where I was at in life. This tribe was under attack by the great and also by the few, by the big and also the small. The only thing that would take them to the next day was survival. I learned that only two of the ten lion cubs survived. A lot of the cubs were smashed by other animals to kill off the lion tribe that was so dominant in the land. Some of the cubs died because they were simply just killed for appetite. Most importantly, some of the cubs died from starvation. In this tribe, two of the lionesses had cubs in the month of May, which meant a lot in the lion kingdom because it’s a very wet season and the rain would give them great supply of water in the river. What caught my attention wasn’t the season, but it was a small cub that was born. This little cub that was born survived the other seven cubs that had died in this season of life. This little cubs name was Dreamer. This cub was very intriguing. Dreamer loved to learn. Dreamer loved to follow but also think on his own, which would have him wander off at times.

While Dreamer went through his early years following his life, he tried to fit in, but it just wouldn’t work. Dreamer was very creative, which led him to believe he could test self-reliance and survival. Everything he tried to do he remained who he was, and that was a dreamer.

His best friend was his half-brother. Their moms were sisters in the same tribe. This cub was named Misfit. (Footnote: this book is for the dreamers and misfits!) Misfit was a little older than Dreamer was and was closer to survivor mode than Dreamer was. Misfit was picked on often but always survived the torment from his older brothers.

As the two cubs got older, they formed a great bond in this tribe. Their fathers, which were the alpha males, would secure the perimeter and protect the tribe. They would go and come as they please all while the lioness would find and attack prey to feed the whole tribe. Misfit and Dreamer would learn how to survive by watching the leaders of the tribe operate in their assignments and would even be afforded practice at times for smaller prey. They were trained on how to lie low when approaching their prey and also how to attack when the moment presented itself. They also learned how to pull back from an overwhelming prey that was too much such as a large elephant tribe.

Dreamer followed very closely even to the point where his own life was in jeopardy time after time. For him to survive the other six cubs meant a lot to the tribe. Dreamer would follow close when not wandering off in tough situations. He would stay close in dangerous times for the most part. Another characteristic of Dreamer is he would never give up even at such a young age. He knew he was the dreamer. He always knew he had a mission. He had purpose. He knew he was there for a reason. He also knew where he stood and where he was going. Even though he was new to the kingdom and just a baby cub, he knew his vision for the tribe and tried to to fulfill it too young.

The mothers cared about him and others so much, but there was a season they came upon that was quick to challenge his and the tribe’s survival. What happened was very detrimental to the pride. As the lionesses attacked the bulls, there was a
