CHAPTER 1
Evangeline sat on her porch swing, thinking about when it happened. She closed her eyes trying to untie the knot in her stomach. It had been a year since she had seen her husband Darren. The police picked her up the day he went missing in the middle of town.. She had been running around and screaming his name for hours. She spent a couple months in the hospital in Oklahoma city.
She had run around the small town of Aline, Oklahoma so distraught, she didn’t know what was going on around her nor did she care. Darren was her husband, Her soul mate. She searched town for him, she put up flyers, nobody had seen him. He didnt make it to the store to buy the mason jars she needed for canning. She wiped the tears off her cheeks feeling the emptiness she felt that day as it came flooding back.
Standing up, she faced the driveway looking and listening for the sound of tires on gravel. She finally gave in and hired a farm hand. She took a few deep breaths as she tried to untie her insides from the knot they had gotten into. She heard the familiar sound of tires on gravel, he was there. She watched as a blue truck pulled into the driveway country music loud and in her ears… But Darren loves country music, she thought to herself. She shook her head and got back to the task at hand..
He had black hair and dark eyes, he was tall and tan skinned. He had a cut off shirt on that men seemed to be doing a lot around there lately she noted his biceps. He was a handsome man.
Hello, my name is Daryl.
His voice caught her off gaurd, He sounded just like Darren. His voice masculine and welcoming. She couldnt help but to smile at the memory of her husband’s voice.
My name is Eva. I am pleased to meet you.
She replied still smiling and now staring at him like a fool. She
