About this ebook

Women throughout history have always carried heavy burdens. Most have been seen as weak vessels. However, women were created with a purpose. God loved them. He saw a need and formed them to fulfill it. Eve was hand-woven to be Adam’s helper.

Throughout the years, many women in ministry have lost themselves. Many have lost the light in their eyes. Many have submitted to bitterness and depression. In the Eyes of a Pastors’ Wife is Pastor Katherine Aguirre’s story. She had a desire to reach women that are suffering in silence. Women in ministry, especially pastors’ wives, see the unimaginable and deal with the unbelievable. Behind closed doors, pastoral families face the realities of ministry. The weight of it can be heavy. No one can truly understand what it took for women to get to the place where God intended for them to be. Pastor Katherine takes you on a journey through her life, hoping to inspire and encourage. May your life be touched as you read the divine transformation God did in her life.

    Dedication

I want to dedicate this first book to my mom’s everlasting memory. Mom, your absence has been so difficult to bare. But God has given me the strength and your memory continues to keep me going. Every time I read Proverbs 31:29, I see your face. I will forever love you Mama. I wish I had the opportunity to have told you so much more. Sorry for taking so long to understand what you went through and what your eyes were trying to say. But today I know you left knowing how much I love you. Words will never express how much you are missed!

I would also like to dedicate this first book to my miracle. Thank you for rescuing me and never giving up on me. God saw the best in me and allowed you to do the same. You have been my inspiration. You became my miracle. We have been through so much and we are still very much in love. I can truly say that I have experienced TRUE LOVE with you. When I wanted to give up on our marriage, you kept the faith for both of us! I love you Eric.

    With endless love,

    Kat

    1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NKJV

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

    Acknowledgements

I have to express my deepest gratitude to my God, Jesus Christ, my Savior, who has loved me through this process. Without Him, this would not be possible. Thank you for guiding and protecting the purpose. I will forever live to love You!

I am grateful to my husband and my children for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. Thanks you all for not giving up on me. Thank you for being understanding.

Thank you to all who continually pray for me!

Lastly, I want to thank my sister, Leslie Johnson, who took time and helped me beyond what I could express. Leslie, you truly are a gem! Thank you.

    I love you all!

    Chapter 1

    THE PRESENCE

    Jeremiah 1: 4-5 NKJV

Then the Word of the LORD came to me, saying: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.

Have you ever felt someone behind you? Have you ever felt as if you were not alone even though, physically speaking, you were? Have you ever felt as though there is a presence following you? I have. Since I was a little girl, I always felt I had someone by my side. This amazed me because I always felt safe, even when I was alone. Having gained experience and knowledge in God, I can say that He has been with me all my life. He has always had a plan for me. As I read Jeremiah Chapter 1 in the Word of God, I feel the down pour of the Holy Ghost in my life. God created me and thought of me from the beginning of time. He ordained my steps. I was not a mistake. I was born with a purpose. I did not see it or understand it right away. But then God began to show off.

God showed me that everything I have been through in my life has been a lesson learned. He is still teaching me valuable lessons in this beautiful journey towards eternity. Brethren, there is a reason why, like you, I have been through the things I have been through, known the people I have known and why I have shed the tears I have shed. God sees the best at its worst. What an amazing truth! God’s presence followed me. His presence found me and I found hope. He became my reality, for He is so real. Jesus found me when I needed Him the most. Getting to know Jesus has been the most wonderful adventure. I say adventure because this walk is filled with different emotions. Yet, I stand in awe of Him, the Savior of my soul, my creator and above all my Father.

In the year 2010, I began to ask God to show me the purpose he had for me. I asked a question, but to tell you the truth I was not ready for what came. God began to strip me. When we ask God to do something according to His will, He will answer. The Spirit of God began to speak to my life. The first thing that voice from within told me was I am going to begin to strip you! I did not need an angel to come and tell me, I knew that voice. Once I came to know the Lord, the Holy Spirit began to live inside of me. The Holy Spirit became that inner voice that would reveal, teach and guide me towards righteousness. The Spirit of God lives in me and also in you. As such, the Holy Spirit speaks into us and through us. Glory be to God.

My stripping process began with a clip of my life. The Holy Spirit began to show me that from my mother’s womb, He knew me. The Spirit took me back to a Sunday evening when I was five years old. All of a sudden, I heard a loud scream. I jumped out of my bed. As I ran across to my mom’s room, I realized it was her screaming. My body quivered with fear and tears ran down my face. I had a gut feeling something was wrong. When I entered the room, my dad was about to hit my mom. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I was speechless and hurt. At that moment, my hero had died right in front of my eyes. I was shattered.

I could not believe that the Holy Spirit took me back to this point in my life. Why? I asked the Spirit of God. This was the point when my family portrait began to deteriorate. Why was He taking me back to a time I did not want to revisit? The Holy Spirit was trying to make me understand that the enemy wanted to destroy me from the beginning. The enemy had a stronghold on me. But God would use my past to determine my future. The Holy Spirit began to show me that I still needed healing. I needed to be freed from past bondage. The Spirit continued to show me.

I was six years old when I learned that Mom was unfaithful.
