Catalyst of Love

About this ebook
I wrote this poem for my son Noah when he was still a baby. I wanted to come up with a poem/prayer that I could say to him every night when putting him to bed. Since I am not religious and more of a spiritual person, I wanted to write something that could be universal and parents from different races, religions, and cultures could potentially say this to their children if they choose. I now recite this poem to both of my sons every night before putting them to bed.. Recently I told this poem to a few of my friends and to my delight, their children will not let their parents put them to sleep without saying this poem to them! I think it is so important that we teach our children to love themselves and to believe in themselves and this poem was inspired to do just that for my precious son. I hope love and light guide you and your children too and blesses you all throughout your life as well!
Love and Light
May love and light guide you and bless you throughout your life
May you always believe in yourself and see yourself in the highest light
May you live your truth, but respect one another without the need to be right
May blessings flow every day and every single night
May the love of your family and friends, take you to new heights
May love and light guide you and bless you tonight!

About the Author
Introduction
I dedicate this book to my amazing family, to my beautiful wife, to my ten-year-old son Noah and to Lucas, our little dumpling and a force to be reckoned with already at two years old! Lastly to our fluff ball and loveable Maltese dog, Benji. They are the center of my world and give me so much love every day. They are my true Catalysts of love.
I remember from the age of five years old, looking up at the ceiling before going to bed one night. I thought to myself, Who am I?
Even from that age, I wondered what my place is in this world. My heart has always been open and I have always been able to connect with that loving side of most of the people I meet.
When I was twelve years old, one of my best friends committed suicide. We met each other when I was two years old and he was three years old. We probably saw each other every month a few times until he passed when he was a mere thirteen years old. He mentioned to me two weeks before doing it, that he was thinking about taking his life. "Two weeks later, my father woke my sister and I up earlier than usual one morning and called us into his room. He had a serious demeanor about him and my sister and I initially thought that, perhaps we were in trouble. He then said to us compassionately that he was sorry, but that our friend had taken his life the night before and he wanted us to know as soon as he had found out. Immediately my sister and I broke down in tears of disbelief and I remember saying to him, no Dad really? It cannot be true? My father said, yes I am sorry son, it is true. My sister and I decided to go to school anyways, the same school our friend attended and one of the first songs that came on the radio was
Lean on me" a remake by Club Nouveau. This was a popular song growing up in Kingston, Jamaica at the time, but it happened to be a song that the three of us loved and would sing together many times, on our way to or from school every morning, as we carpooled together. Later in life looking back, I chose to believe that he was sending us a message that we could lean on him moving forward, but on a different vibrational plane, if we choose to get there on a spiritual level.
It took me many years to forgive myself and realize that it was not my fault. However, my heart was never quite the same again though. I had lost someone who I considered to be the older brother I never had and although in time I would heal, this kind of loss in such a tragic manner will change you forever.
My friend’s death ended up being a Catalyst of Love for me. Our tragedies, hardships, and heartbreaks in our life are ultimately a part of who we are as human beings. They provide us with the contrast and opportunity to grow and to become more complete, compassionate individuals. What is important is for us to see through these heartbreaks as stepping-stones and to not get stuck in the negativity that can come from these experiences. I truly believe that I would not be the spiritual loving person I am today, had it not been for my friend’s death. I feel we all have the opportunity to be Catalysts of Love to not only the people close to us but to as many people as possible. We can do this by seeing the positive loving side of other people and by connecting with them on topics of mutual interest that always exist if you look deep enough. I feel some of the most positive and negative experiences in our lives, can both be Catalysts of Love for us and this is what this book
