Thoughts and Poetry from the Soul: Musings on Life, Love, the World, and God
By Eric A Trott
()
About this ebook
Eric is a person who thinks deeply about life, and his poems reflect that. Some talk about his life journey and the emotions attached to his experiences along the way. They describe the joys and sorrows of growing up for him as a child, which was mainly tough; the heartaches, disappointments, and frustrations he faced as a young man; and the wisdom gained in later years. Some are reminiscent of the past, and others describe his observations on the world and on life and how it is lived.
His poems cover a wide range of topics, including love, hate, romance, nature, encouragement, the world, the environment, and God. Though some are a bit on the philosophical side, they are mostly easy, not just to understand but to identify with as well.

Dedication
I would like to dedicate this book to the memory of my dear friend, the late Arul
Baliah, who was one of the main persons to encourage me to write.
I first met Arul some years ago at Church, in Gurugram which was then called Gurgaon. We were both part of the same church before he moved to Bengaluru. Arul and I went on to become great friends despite all that we differed on. Our common interests were, I guess, Christian literature and music. He was very fond of Francis Schaeffer and I preferred more contemporary writers like Ravi Zachariah and Philip Yancey. He was a great fan of Bono and U2 while I liked Mark Knopfler and the Dire Straits more. So, we spent a lot of time, whenever we met up, discussing theology, philosophy and music. I had just begun playing the bass guitar and Arul felt that I should stick to rhythm and lead instead.
Arul was extremely radical in his thoughts and used to love provoking people into thinking out of the box to the extent that many who interacted with him, may have even wondered about his personal beliefs. However, those of us who knew him a little better would agree that in his own radical way, Arul did love the Lord Jesus.
For some reason, Arul always told me that I should start writing. While at Gurgaon he had heard me speak in Church on a few occasions. And often after hearing me he would tell me that I should commit my thoughts to paper. After he left for Bengaluru we stayed in touch mostly through email and sometimes on the phone. A few years ago, when he wrote to me he again reminded me that it was time I got into writing. So, I wrote back, telling him jokingly, that the first book I write I would dedicate to him. He replied with just three words: Do it now.
That was the last email I got from Arul. After that I spoke to him may be once or twice on phone.
On the 9th of October 2011, a Sunday, I got
