This Is for You - Faith Anne Trias
WHY…
Roses aren’t just red
Violets are just a shade of purple, not only blue
I wrote this book for girls
Girls who have the honor of falling in love with you
Our story was very sweet, and I thought it would last
But after everything has happened,
My heart can’t seem to put you in the past.
So here I have this book, to let you know I love you
And to show to all those girls that one day
They’d be lucky that they had you.
This one’s for you
Who can’t find love
Within yourself
For you, who looks in the mirror and doesn’t see the work of art.
The art composed of years full of torment and torture.
It’s okay, you’re going to be okay.
Your body is not only a temple,
Yet an empire.
You’re still standing
And I stand with you.
The purest of waters comes from the deepest darkest and dirtiest oceans
This is art.
You are art.
Day 1: 12/5/17
7:10pm
Today I saw our snapchat messages disappear. As I sent out my streaks, a thought occurred: Would I still read your words in your voice from our messages?
And I slide left, and scroll up, only to find nothing. You blocked me last Monday after saying you love(d) me last Saturday…
I still snap you every day, even though I know you won’t see it. Hoping that the day you add me back, you’ll see all the snaps of me. And I can tell you that I haven’t forgotten about you (and that I love you)
Do you ever have those shoes? Ya know, the ones where you tie them, and they won’t stay tied? And you don’t want to double knot them, because it would take way too long to take them off.
What if they’re too tight? Too loose?? Then you’d have untie them just to tie them again when you put them back on. So, you don’t double knot them. You leave them. And you keep tripping over the same laces that you thought would stay a certain way. I tripped. Over the same laces over and over again… and I still am because I’ve already bought the shoes and wore them. But not you. No matter how much you want those shoes, you might look better in sandals and might even walk better, too.
Day 2: 12/6/17
1:12am
I can’t sleep knowing in less than 10 days, I’ll be back home, and shortly after, you’ll be home, too. I can’t tell if it’s the feeling of joy or the feeling of fear that will go through my body
