Through the Fire builds on an individual’s ‘Me’ Trinity.

Abuse—The word itself sounds very harsh and cold. When that word comes upon you in action, it is very harsh, cold as well as devastating. Abuse is real as well as harsh. Three out of four women have felt its harshness.

Abuse is defined: to treat in a harmful and injurious way As a noun abuse is defined: bad or improper treatment, maltreatment

In this evil world, there are many examples of abuse, Through the Fire is a ministry that counsels women biblically who have experienced sexual, physical, psychological as well as emotional abuse.

You understand the definition of abuse fully when you see the effects on the victim. When you see the deep pain from someone else’s actions, only then do you fully understand abuse.

The Bible writes of many cases of abuse but the two that sticks with me are that of Tamar (2 Samual 13) and Jesus (Luke 23:26-43) on the cross. Tamar’s half-brother raped her (2 Samual 13). She was so devastated she asked him to make her his wife because the pain was too unbearable. She would have rather married her abuser than face what she thought would be humiliation.

And she said unto him, there is no cause: this evil in sending me away which is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her."

And she had a garment of divers’ colors upon her: for such robes were the king’s daughters that were virgin’s apparel. The servants led brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers’ colors that was on her and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying (2 Samuel 13:16-19). Now you can see the effect of abuse as illustrated in the Bible. The action devastated her so much that she stopped thinking rationally at that very moment requesting that her abuser marry her. The ‘me’ trinity rationalized that marriage would have been better. Her emotions were so raw with pain that the brain could not logically make decisions from facts. Absolom definitely treated her in a harmful way and its devastating effect was immediate.

She referred to his action as vile and that the
