INTRODUCTION
As the cold wind blew my car and Diamonds and Pearls blared, I drove to the one and only Paisley Park in December of 2016. The place that filled so many of our hearts and intrigued our minds was now open to the public. My journey had been a long one, driving over 700 miles in the dead of winter with my family. I cannot tell you why I made the journey, besides I had a gut feeling that I needed to go. I wish I had the story of seeing him in multiple concerts and his songs being the sound track of my life, but that was not my story. Being a music fanatic for as long as I can remember, I knew Prince was one of a kind and such an interesting artist, but when he passed away something changed for me. I felt a horrible sense of guilt for not following him when he was alive. I was devastated that I missed the Prince experience, and later I found out that I was even more devastated that I missed Prince the friend, activist and artist. All of this propelled me to make my first trip to Minneapolis.
As I pulled up to the large white almost commercial like Paisley Park, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was sitting at Paisley Park. I never thought in a million years that I would be sitting there. As I entered and the warm smell of lavender floated through the air while Prince’s music softly played in the background; I could see why this was Prince’s sanctuary. It drew you
