    DEDICATION

This book is dedicated to you, the reader. I believe that it is God’s gift to you. Just as He has awakened my senses to the world around me in the light of His unique glory, I believe that yours, too, will be heightened to His ever-loving presence in our lives. The difficulties we face on a daily basis are all orchestrated by a loving and merciful God Who alone matures us for the destiny He’s created each of us for. And, if we but only trust Him, our end will always be better than our beginning.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I would like to thank our triune God for the privilege of completing a third poetry book! Some may think that that is not much of an accomplishment; but, for me, it is more than an accomplishment because I had thought that the first book was to be my only one. God, however, is not interested in us telling Him what our plans are when He knows and understands why He’s created us. That in itself explains why this book had to be written, too.

If we are to follow the plans He has for our lives, then we must learn to be submissive to His will for us. Of my own, I would keep every poem His Holy Spirit entrusts me with to myself, but it has been revealed clearly to me that the poems He’s given are not to be secretly guarded in my personal treasure chest. I, therefore, thank God for His encouragement through friends and family members who commented so positively about my last book, Reflections, and asked, When will you write the next book?

I most certainly must thank Him for allowing Holy Spirit to inspire and guide the writing of each individual poem in this book. At times, I had to reluctantly pick up pen and paper when a thought came, or I knew that what God wanted to say to someone at a particular moment in time would be forever lost.

As in my other two poetry books, I desire that each person who reads the poems will feel the presence of the Lord in each verse. These poems are for you as much as they are for me! May God bless your reading!

    INTRODUCTION

Much has happened since the publication of my last book in 2014, to say the least. Of course, there are ups and downs in all of our lives, but the best thing of all is knowing that the Lord will remain a constant presence throughout all situations and circumstances. Even as I write, I am reminded of the losses of family, church members, community leaders, political leaders, actors, singers, and the list goes on!

To everything, there is a season (Ecclesiastes 3:1) is so true. I am now retired totally from the teaching profession, as of June 2015 (31years as teacher, 1 as substitute, 8 as instructional assistant). My first year was spent believing that I needed to go back and earn extra money since I no longer had the financial support of the Charlottesville City School system for health insurance….What a cost-shocker!!! This was to be in conjunction with continued financial support of my son. The miracle of it all has not been what I’ve done to continue all this, but what God alone has done to maintain my financial status without additional finances each month since retiring! Truly He alone deserves the credit!!!

God has been teaching (and continuing to teach me) over this past year (2016) to place my complete trust in him. Right now, I am learning how not to set the alarm clock, but to allow the Lord to awaken me daily. It’s funny how we already realize this truth as Christians, but will still set those clocks although God is saying
