Foreword
W
ithin the Bible, Shiloh has many meanings. Since this book has the title Shiloh,
I want to give you just a little background on one meaning of Shiloh.
Now, the first thing that comes to mind for me is the phrase until Shiloh come,
which is found in Genesis 49:10.¹
When scripture says, until Shiloh come,
it is speaking of Jesus, the coming Messiah. In this Genesis text, Shiloh is mentioned as one of the names of Jesus, who is the peacemaker.
In Isaiah 9:6, Jesus is referred to as the Prince of Peace.² This is one of the many names given to Jesus. Now, when we connect all of this together, we should know that peace is found in and through Jesus Christ. When we say that the chastisement of our peace was upon him,
it means that Christ died to pay the ultimate penalty for our sins.³ The punishment for our sin is death, so Christ gave his life so that we could be forgiven and have peace. Through salvation, we have eternal life, and when our minds are stayed on Him, Jesus will keep us in perfect peace.⁴ That is when we, as believers, are in Shiloh. That is when we are in peace.
When Jesus tells believers, My peace I leave with you,
he's giving us the gift of peace that is not based on what happens around us. This type of peace that was left by Jesus is based on what happens within you, so we must put our trust in Jesus, who brings the ultimate peace.
For this book, the word Shiloh is an experience of peace. Many people know that Shiloh means peace, and now, you know it, too. The women writing these letters are coming from the angle of peace. They want us to know that peace can be found through the presence of a loving earthly father.
—Bishop Virgil C. Jones, Sr
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Matthew 7:11 KJV
Preface
I
have been writing and publishing books now for seven years. Each time I release a new book, I share the publication with my daddy, and he is uber excited!
Uber excited!
I take joy in that.
Yet every time I tell my daddy that I have published a new book, he asks if I dedicated the book to him. For many years, I could not tell him, Yes, Daddy. I dedicated the book to you!
Most of my books—all my previous books—are for women.
All my books are by women, so I could not figure out how to dedicate a book to my father. With this book, I am happy to say that we have found a solution to that problem!
My daddy has been a great man for me. He came into the lives of my siblings, me, and my mom when it was immensely valuable to have him as an addition to the family. I admit that I have a soft spot for my daddy, so it brings me great joy each time he asks if I dedicated the book to him. My daddy takes this publishing and dedication business really seriously, so I know I have done a great thing in my daddy's eyes, and I know he will be quite pleased.
My dad has his collection of my books on display. He will put this book right next to all my other books—books that he purchases from me each time (even though they are for women). This book will hold a special place on his shelf. And I know it will hold a special place in his heart because, finally, I have a book that I can dedicate to my daddy—my daddy.
He clarifies that being a daddy is different than being a father. He is better than a father. Fathers give birth to children,
he says, but daddies take care of children.
Daddies show up for children. Daddies hold a soft spot in the eyes of their children, and… Daddies have little daughters. So, for my daddy from his baby girl, here is a book, Daddy, that you have waited for forever, and it is high time you received it. Here is the book dedication that you totally deserve. In searching for the opportunity to find a single dedication for you, I created a complete book dedicated to all the fathers because that’s how much you mean to me.
I love you, Daddy. Thank you for being a great daddy and the best father for a girl like me.
Your Baby Girl,
Dr. D Nicole

Close your eyes and take a deep breath as you reflect on what your good father or positive father figure meant to you. How does this man show up in your memories? Can you smell his cologne on a Sunday morning on the way to church? Do you hear his voice in a crowd cheering you on? Can you remember the first time he shared raw emotions with you? These are the experiences we tend to gloss
