About this ebook

In this book, the author shares her journey of faith and the truths she learned. She stresses the importance of accepting the will of God as it comes to you each moment, the value of suffering, and the power of prayer. She has always asked the question why. She would not do any task that was given her until she knew why. Religion and spirituality was no exception. She would ask God why, and in most instances, an answer would come to her. This book reflects her searching spirit.

Wanda Simar

Wanda Simar is eighty-three years old. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1999. There seems to be a link between Parkinson disease and creativity. Her writing career began about nine years ago when she started writing eulogies for family and friends. She did not begin writing seriously until last year. Wanda was encouraged by a friend, who taught writing, to publish what she had written. She has no formal education or training. She was married for fifty-eight years to S. Roy Simar, her high school sweetheart, and has been a widow for seven years. She has three children, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

    Chapter 1

The Hand of the Lord Feeds Us, He Answers All Our Needs

    Psalm 145

I’ve always known that I needed approval. I needed to hear that I did a good job, to get that pat on the back. I did have self- confidence most of the time, but I have always felt inferior when I was with a group who had graduated from college. I only have a High School Diploma and always wished I had gotten a degree. When someone would ask me where I went to college, I would jokingly say, I got this smart all by myself. But deep inside that feeling of inferiority would creep up.

It was very difficult for me to accept the praise I received when I wrote something. I would think, I am not educated, How can this be good? I had one friend who told me that I needed to try and get my writings published. I laughed.

In 2008 I made an ACTS Retreat. ACTS stands for Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service. This wasn’t like any retreat I had ever attended. It was eight years before I saw the benefits of the retreat. I served on two retreat teams. One in 2009 and one in 2010.

When I made the retreat, my daughter Julie was on the team. After our first sharing, I saw Julie
