The Burning Bush My Calling - Zeena Jenkins-Moore

    Chapter 1:

Many Are Called, But Few Are Chosen

As I sit here, reading through this text, I can't help but recall a personal experience that I had a few years ago. It was the year 2015, and my brother, Pastor MJ, had just started his own church. I had been conducting Bible studies with children, but one day, my brother approached me with an opportunity that would change my life forever.

Hey, sis, he said, I was wondering if you would be interested in conducting a Bible study with adults.

I was taken aback by his proposal. What do you mean, adults? I asked, not quite sure where he was going with this.

These are not just any ordinary adults, he replied with a smile. They are ordained clergymen and women who know the Holy doctrine like the back of their hands. We're talking Ministers, Pastors, Evangelists, even Prophets & Bishops who prophesy in their church services.

I was stunned. The thought of teaching Bible studies to such a learned group of people was daunting, to say the least. But something inside me urged me to take up the challenge.

And so began my journey as a Bible study teacher for a group of seasoned clergymen and women. It was a daunting task, but I was determined to rise to the occasion. As I prepared for each lesson, I found myself digging deeper into the scriptures, uncovering hidden meanings and nuances that I had never noticed before.

I remember one particular lesson where we were discussing the book of Revelations. As I shared my insights on the symbolism in the text, one of the Ministers interjected with his own interpretation. Sister, have you considered this? he asked, pointing out a subtle detail that I had completely missed. I was humbled by his insight and grateful for the opportunity to learn from my students.

As the day of the Bible study approach, I could feel the pressure building. I knew that I had to bring my A-game if I wanted to do justice to this group of Giants. When my friend approached me to teach them, he said, You're in the big league now. It was clear that he had confidence in me to lead this Bible study, and I didn't want to let him or the group down.

My brother was already leading a weekly prayer conference call every Wednesday, so we decided that the Bible study could start right after it. Although I had never participated in the prayer group before, I decided to join on the day of my first Bible study. I wanted to get a sense of the group dynamic and make sure that I was fully prepared.

But as the day of my first Bible study approached, I still didn't have a topic. I nervously waited for the Holy Spirit to give me something to talk about, but it seemed like the inspiration just wasn't coming. As someone who had never experienced writer's block, I was becoming increasingly nervous about not having anything prepared.

Finally, the day arrived, and I found myself standing in front of a group of Giants, feeling unprepared and uncertain. I took a deep breath and began to speak, relying on my faith to guide me. As I spoke, I could feel my confidence growing, and the words seemed to flow naturally from my mouth.

One of the Giants raised his hand and asked a question, and I found myself engaged in a spirited dialogue with the group. We delved deep into the meaning of the Bible, and I could feel the Holy Spirit moving within us.

By the end of the Bible study, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I conquered my nerves and delivered a message that resonated with the group. As I left, one of the Giants came up to me and said, Thank you, sister. You have a gift for this. It was the ultimate compliment, and it gave me the confidence to continue leading the Bible study for many weeks to come.

On the day that I was supposed to start the Bible study, I was still without a topic. I knew that if I didn't come up with something soon, I would have to pass on the opportunity. As I sat in my car during my lunch break, I decided to start writing anything that came to mind. I prayed silently to the Holy Spirit, Please give me what I need to teach.

Suddenly, inspiration struck me, and I began to write about the 12 tribes of Israel. It was a subject I knew well enough that I wouldn't embarrass myself in front of the Giants. I wanted to make sure that I chose a topic that would challenge them and make them think. I knew I couldn't talk about something as basic as Adam and Eve eating the apple.

As I wrote, I looked out of the driver's side window, and to my surprise, I saw what appeared to be a burning bush. I wiped my eyes and looked again, thinking I must be hallucinating. But the bush remained, burning brightly.

I couldn't ignore it, so I got out of my car and walked over to the bush. As I approached it, the bush began to flicker and pulse, and I could feel a sense of peace wash over me. I knew then that this was a sign from the Holy Spirit, a sign that I was on the right path.

I returned to my car, feeling emboldened and empowered. With the 12 tribes of Israel as my topic, I delivered a powerful Bible study that challenged the Giants and left them feeling invigorated. And as I left that day, I knew that I had found my calling as a Bible study leader.

As I went on with the lesson, I noticed that the members of the group were paying close attention to every word I said. They were nodding their heads and asking thought-provoking questions. I could feel the Holy Spirit working through me, guiding me to say the right things and helping the group understand the lesson.

After the lesson, one of the members came up to me and said, I don't know how you did it, but that was one of the best Bible studies I've ever been to. You really brought the topic to life and made it interesting. I was so relieved and grateful that I had been able to deliver a lesson that was well received.

From that day forward, I took my role as a Bible study leader very seriously. I spent time studying and preparing for each lesson, always asking for guidance from the Holy Spirit. And as I continued to lead the group, I saw the members grow in their knowledge and understanding of the Bible.

Looking back on that day, I know that the sight of the burning bush was a sign from God that He had chosen me to lead this group. And even though it may have seemed like
