About this ebook
Janis Orr
My name is Janis Orr. I live in a small town in North Georgia, Ringgold. It is well known as the city where Dolly Parton was married. I have raised two children and am enjoying my five grandchildren. It is for them I began this book series. They have always loved to hear stories and being an avid reader all my life, I always obliged them. Why trees? As a child growing up, they were my shade from the heat, they held that awesome swing, their limbs were a safe hideaway from siblings and cousins as I read books that took me far, far away into other worlds. I still enjoy being outside any day over indoors. I watch the trees as they blow in the wind, hold the birds and watch the squirrels run up and down. My morning coffee is spent imagining that they are watching me too.

Dedicated to my beautiful children, Jeremy and Melissa, and to their soul mates, Amanda and Chris. To my inspiring and awesome grandchildren, Madison, Amelia, Noah, Conrad, and Beckett. Also, to my husband, Mike, who helped me begin this legacy and supported me with his love and understanding.
This is also dedicated to each character in my book as they are named for the loved ones of family and friends who have finished their life journey. May their memory and spirit be brought to mind as you read the book.
1.tifSpecial thanks to my parents, Joseph and Katherine Cooney. They showed me by their own life journey to always trust in God and lean not to my own understanding. They watch me from above, residing with my Heavenly Father, giving me hope for a joyous reunion.

If you happen to travel I-75 between Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tennessee, you may notice the trees in the median. They always seemed to be traveling in groups and in my imagination, I saw them as families.
This is a compilation of some of the stories found in my imagination. The trees, my main characters, I have named Humbles because trees give us so much yet ask nothing in return. Therefore, they show us humility.
The cars and trucks traveling on the freeway are called Unusuals as each is different in color, size, and shape. The people inside are referred to as Beings (humans).
Use your imagination as you read about the Life Journeys of the Humbles, Beings, and Unusuals.

Birth of a Humble
Willie and his wife, Rose, were so excited over the seedling named Patrick, their son. He was just perfect, no bent or broken limbs, great leaves, deep roots, and always curious. They were part of the family called the Humbles. The Humble life was constant; they talked and lived while they moved in motion with the wind. They needed no home, for the open sky was their roof and the ground was their floor. They grew and survived by the combination of rain and sunshine. Patrick was a happy Humble starting his journey of life. He loved all his new experiences and adventures except one, storms. One had come last night with the loud noise of thunder, striking light, the wind, and the falling rain. Patrick hid beneath his father’s branches until the
