In Changed Forever, I shared with you some interesting things about the number thirteen. There will be more in book two. But, do you really believe there are energy patterns like that which affect our lives? Let me tell you a few things about thirteen in my life. First, my name has thirteen letters. I was born in the sign of Scorpio, which is represented in tarot by Key 13. I got my first job at the age of thirteen. I worked there until I graduated from high school. Then, I got one other job which I stayed at until I turned twenty-six. At that time, thirteen years after I got my first job, I switched to a good paying job which I kept for many years. There are other significant thirteens, one in particular that I needed, but this is a short bio so I’ll skip to the present. On July 13, 2012, a Friday the thirteenth, a freak accident at work broke a bone in my hand. It was bad and needed surgery. I decided it wasn't a problem but an opportunity. Maybe life was telling me I should use my hands another way. I used the time to prepare myself, and get The Dreams of Sara Knight ready for publication. Exactly one year later, on July 13, I received the edited copy of my manuscript back from my editor. I was ready to go. So, here we are in 2013 and my life course is changing again as I publish my first novel. And by the way, as I do this, I have been studying with a western mystery school for 13 years. So, you decide, is life more about patterns of energy than we normally consider? It certainly is. Someday I’ll write the whole story and share it with you.A good place to begin exploring this for yourself would be looking at some short videos about cymatics on Youtube. They are very cool! They demonstrate the relationship between energy vibrations and definite, universal patterns. Do that, and you’re on your way to understanding how energy patterns affect your life. If you follow this clue like an investigative journalist, you’ll learn many wonderful things.

About The Cover

Dedication

I dedicate The Dreams of Sara Knight to young people of all ages. I hope to make you wonder. Then turn your wonder into seeking, which I hope you do with enthusiasm, for enthusiasm is very powerful. It enables you to do things to the best of your ability, and to accomplish things that couldn’t get done any other way.

The word enthusiasm comes from the Greek word enthusiasmos. It is made up of two smaller words, en, which means in or within, and Theos, which means God or divinity. So, it truly means God within or divinity within or the power of God within you. Enthusiasm is one name, one perspective, or one reference to the vibrating essence of life that is the core of our being. It can charge whatever we think, or say, or do. It’s one way we get to directly experience our relationship with the creative forces. When you awaken your inner power, you go from ordinary to extraordinary. That is my wish for all of you.

Trust in dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.

-Khalil Gibran

The Story of Us All

It was getting rather late, 10:45 to be exact. The girls were crashed out on the couch, exhausted after a long day of celebrating. Friends and family had been coming and going all day to be with them on their birthday. Sure, it was great fun, but now they were glad to just let go and relax. Kara let out a mighty yawn with a fully open jaw, as if she was a roaring lioness. Sara, unable to help herself, succumbed to the urge and responded with a powerful yawn of her own. They smiled meekly at each other as they realized what just happened.

Hey, what’s all that roaoring going on in here? their father asked, as he entered the room and saw what just happened.

Hey Dad, why are yawns contagious? Sara asked, barely moving.

Wow Sara, here we go again with the synchronicity! I just looked that up, and now you’re asking me about it. It’s like I looked it up just so I could answer your question.

Really?

Both girls sat up with renewed energy. They knew that life itself was often giving hints of its mysterious ways. They were on high alert now, expecting something significant was about to reveal itself.

"That’s right! And I think you may find this pretty interesting. You see, they’ve done a lot of research trying to figure that out. Believe it or not, researchers think the reason we yawn is different from the reason someone yawns after us. First, they learned that they could get many people to yawn by showing them videos of yawning and other various things. Then took it to the next level by trying to influence the rate in which people responded. By placing hot and cold compresses on people’s heads, they found that people yawned less when using the cold one. They concluded that we yawn to cool the brain. So, is that what you girls were doing, cooling off your brains?"

Sara laughed. I thought I was yawning because I’m tired.

"That’s what I thought, too. Science is very good at collecting data, but sometimes their conclusions are questionable. If that were true, wouldn’t we see professional athletes yawning when they were really hot? We see them pouring water on their heads, but I don’t think I ever saw them yawning to cool off their brains.

Anyway, to answer your question, they call contagious yawns a primal subconscious response. It’s kind of like the way we hold our breath when we see someone in trouble, or the way we smile when we see someone having fun. We can’t help ourselves. This seems to make sense. It’s something from our very ancient past. We connect in ways that are very subtle and mysterious, but very real, nonetheless.

"Then how come you’re not yawning?" Kara asked.

I don’t know. It’s a mystery, Kara. I do know this though. Before you girls get too tired, there’s one more thing I want to share with you today.

The girls exchanged knowing glances. There it was; they were about to find out just what was connected to the synchronicity. They learned that when two seemingly, unrelated events collide, like a yawn and a web search, there was always more to follow.

What is it, Dad? Sara asked.

I have a story I’d like to share with you.

A story? You’re kidding! You haven’t told us a story in a long time, Sara replied.

Well, if you’re too old now… Steve teased.

"If we’re too old then you’re way too old," Sara teased back.

How could anyone be too old for a good story? Kara asked.

I agree, Kara, and this is a very good story. Listen, why don’t you two go up and get ready for bed, and I’ll see if your mom is finished in the kitchen? Then we’ll both come up in a little bit.

All right, but we know you’re up to something, Dad, Sara said, as the girls got up. They were now wide awake and anxious to find out what was going on.

Yeah, Dad, what is it? Why are you being so mysterious? Kara chimed in.

I’ll tell you this. It’s something important, and something your mom and I both want to share with you. So, if you want to find out what it is, go and get ready.

C’mon Kara, let’s do what he said. That’s the only way we’re going to find out.

As the girls headed for the stairs, Steve went in the other direction toward the kitchen. Quietly, he snuck up behind his attractive wife and gave her a hug. Need any help? he whispered in her ear before kissing her neck.

Not really; you just gave me all I need. And your sister helped out before they left, so I’m done really, Cindy said, as she turned around and embraced her husband.

I have the girls waiting upstairs for me to tell them a story.

Well, it’s finally time! They’re ready for this, you know, Cindy said. A surge of emotion washed through her as thoughts of this moment finally arriving poured out.

I know they are. Let’s go. Steve took his wife’s hand and together they went to present their daughters with a very special message.

Upstairs, the girls were hurrying to finish cleaning up, talking amongst themselves, trying to figure out what was going on, and getting nowhere. Sara and Kara shared a bedroom, even though they could each have their own if they wanted to. To them that was unimaginable. Like the twin spirals of our DNA, they completed and complimented each other, and were thus inseparable. What they were about to embark upon would require that strong bond many times.

As he entered the room, Steve couldn’t help kidding with them a little. Okay now, if you girls are too tired, just let me know.

We’re not, Dad, so don’t try to get out of it, Sara declared. She knew he was kidding, but she liked to play along with his games. Also, she was curious now, and wanted him to know how truly interested she was.

All right. I’ve been saving this one till you got old enough. Now that you’ve finally hit double digits, it’s time for you to hear it. So don’t fall asleep and miss it, because this is the story of us all. He got their attention with that. Yes, they were very interested in a story like that.

He sat down at the end of one bed while Cindy sat down on the end of the other, then Steve began his story. "It all started a very, very long time ago, or so it seemed, when mankind first awakened to life in a material world. It appeared to be very nice, as all around them was a beautiful garden where it was warm, and sunny, and very pleasant. The singing of the birds, the sweet bouquet of many flowers, and all the different animals captured their senses and their hearts. Everywhere they looked was filled with wonderful sights, and sounds, and smells.

"Someone found some plump, juicy berries and picked one. After examining it a bit, they put it in their mouth. Immediately, their whole face lit up with delight. Soon, everyone was experiencing the wonders of taste. Yes, everything seemed perfect as they continued discovering all the richness of their new environment.

"Gradually, they began to wander away from where they were, always searching for new things. As they went farther and farther, they became increasingly aware that some things were pleasant, and some weren’t. Some of the plants had prickly thorns that scratched their skin. Some of the animals didn’t seem quite so friendly anymore. That wonderful beginning was now becoming a distant memory. Not knowing what else to do, they kept going, always looking for the happiness and comfort they once knew.

They still had fun together, usually; but sometimes the weather wasn’t so nice anymore. Sometimes they had trouble finding food. Slowly but surely, their adventure was turning into a struggle to survive. It was even affecting the way they treated each other, because they didn’t always agree on what to do or how to do it.

Steve looked right into the girls’ eyes as he told his story, and he was good with voice inflection to bring the story to life. The girls were hanging on his every word.

"So, they wandered for a very long time, for many generations even, but never did find their way back to that garden. Eventually, they grew tired of wandering, and decided to stop right where they were. It was a nice place, and with all the things they learned along the way, they thought it just might be a place where they could all be happy.

"Not everyone stopped though; some wanted to keep going. The ones who did stop all worked together to make a shelter. Then they prepared a field to grow food. You see, they learned about seeds along the way, and they saved some for this very day. They worked hard in their field and had some success, but they were surprised by how long it took things to grow. Still, they did all right, and it seemed like their wandering days were over.

"As they learned the cycles of nature, and things like fertilizing and pruning, they got even better at growing things and mastering their environment. Now their fields were supplying more and more of their food. It was hard work though, and took up a lot of their time; but the struggles pushed mankind to learn and discover new things. Every time they were challenged, they found a new idea or a better way.

"Mankind also learned that in order to be happy, what was going on inside himself was more important than what was going on outside. Man realized that he himself was a field. He could choose to grow the things he wanted, and get rid of the things he didn’t like. This too was hard work, but it needed done, and mankind continued to learn, adapt, and grow.

"In time, things that were thought to be not so important turned out to be very useful powers, things like concentration, patience, discipline, and kindness. So they cultivated and nurtured those things with skill and imagination. Now, changing himself became man’s most important job. As these qualities developed, it was like a rosebud opening up, with petal after petal revealing itself, each one adding to the beauty of the whole flower. This new understanding began spreading from within, outward, even improving their relationships with each other.

"Eventually, some of the people got very good at nurturing their inner powers. This led to the discovery of new powers that they didn’t even know existed, things like intuition, inspiration and premonitions.

"Then it happened. By focusing intently on the inner life, someone found a way to awaken into a whole new level of being. They actually experienced their interconnectedness with all that is, and the eternal nature of life. This gave them a new way of relating that manifested in power; like the power to heal, the ability to increase the vitality and fruitfulness of plants, and even walk among the wilder animals. Many were inspired to learn of these things.

"It was rare indeed, this ability to live from the inside out. But every now and then someone else would find it and awaken to join the ranks of this new generation. You see, once a person clears away enough of the useless clutter from bygone days, and awakens enough of their inner nature, they begin to see things differently. They can actually see energies that we don’t see. They even gain the ability to sense the quality of someone’s love, and understand them from a higher perspective. They also see how things are related in ways that we don’t understand. This enables them to know what’s going to happen before anyone else does. They live an extraordinary life.

"As they gain skill in living this way, even more possibilities open up to them, because life is really limitless. Then, at some point, they become aware of something tremendously magnificent inside themselves. This is a very special event. The awakened ones say that once you discover the divine splendor within, you willingly give up everything else to pursue it. They call it the most beautiful and perfect thing in the whole universe.

"Just like the rose, the power and beauty of an awakened one continues to unfold, until finally, they can see their center. It’s a brilliant, glimmering, shimmering fountain of musical light and color, inside of a glistening sphere of cool, pulsating, living energy stuff. They say that when you look really close, the very center seems to be completely empty, or maybe completely full; it’s hard to tell, but it is very still and full of power and majesty.

"They say that everyone’s sphere is different, but in the center, everyone is exactly the same. They also tell us that man exists so that he can find his center, and every time someone does, a part of the universe celebrates with supreme joy and excitement. They also have a special name that they call themselves, the ones who have found their center. They call themselves Heart Knowers.

So, now that you girls are old enough, it’s time for you to learn about the Heart Knowers. It’s time for you to become aware of the treasure that’s inside of you, because I believe that you girls are going to become awakened ones. You are here to wake up and find your center in this very lifetime. And I want you girls to know that in the days and weeks ahead, we’ll be teaching you more about this, because there’s a lot more you need to hear.

With that, Steve ended his story and looked at his daughters for a response.

Dad, are you serious? Sara asked, even as Kara was asking, Does everyone really have one? And we’re supposed to become awakened ones? Sara continued.

"Yes, girls. This is a true story. Some of it’s symbolic, because the beauty of the soul is just too immense to describe completely. You see, a soul is like a seed that grows when it is planted in the soil. Our bodies are the soil in which a very special seed is being grown, and just as every seed contains within itself the pattern of its own development and matures according to its own nature, so is our soul meant to grow and blossom into the fullness of the spark of divinity that it is.

"Now, plants are rooted in and fed by the soil, but as they reach for the light above, they get nourished another way. Only then can they reach their full potential. And just as the right kind of care and nurturing can grow better plants, so too does the right kind of nurturing help the soul grow into its glorious potential. Unfortunately, too many people identify with the body instead of their true inner nature. Their inner nature is not getting the attention it needs to thrive.

"I used the story to tell you a very important message, because it will help you remember. Certain ideas, like the seed, will help you understand the process as you move forward. It’s an unfolding through different stages of development. And yes, you’re supposed to become awakened ones. That’s the reason I told you this story. But listen, this is just the beginning. There’s a lot more to the story.

Here, I’ll give you another idea from the story to think about. Even though we all appear to be different, we are all the same inside. We are all looking for that something that will make life complete, that will make life wonderful. Every one of us is searching for the same thing, but in our own unique way. Think about it, and tomorrow you can ask me all the questions you want. So, did you like your story?

Oh yes, it was perfect, Sara exclaimed. Both girls climbed out of bed
