Evangelism Made Easy - Michael M. Charway

    SIMPLY DEFINED

I describe evangelism simply as one satisfied man telling another hungry man where to find bread. This definition fits into the meaning of the name Evangelist; Bringer of good news. Soul winning is a task that must be done. The Good Book has well said that He that winneth souls is wise (Pro. 11:30) We should have the passion for soul winning and have the desire to bring others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We should be worried that thousands of souls are heading down the abyss of doom without ever hearing the word of God.

The reason why Christ came was to reconcile man to God; and He paid the altimate price for that. All we need do is to proclaim the good news of salvation to everyone. The church is a place to prepare and send us to go out and bring in the souls. The church is not a museum for sight seeing but a training ground to prepare the saints for soul winning.

Occationally a sinner may wander into the church, but generally speaking, sinners don’t go to church on their own; somebody must invite them and lead them to the church. This means we must be out where the sinners are. Paul told Timothy to do the work of an evangelist (2Tim. 4:5) Right from the onset, proclaiming the good news was uppermost on the heart of everybody who came in contact with the Lord Jesus; this we see of the shepherds who proclaimed the good news after they have seen Jesus. (Lk. 2: 15-17)

Take note that God did not direct His call to one particular person, but to all. Isaiah heard the call just like others: Whom shall I send, and who will go? Isaiah answered and said, Here I am, send me and I will go. (Isa. 6:8) The call is to every child of God; not just a selected few. It is a matter so serious that Apostle Paul declares, Woe is unto me if I preach not the gospel (1 Cor, 9:16) The order is simply to preach the word. (2 Tim. 4:2)

Nobody is to be left out of
