About this ebook

This book is a tool for evangelism. It brings out the details of the message of the cross, which is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, in a different but simple way. We are in an era in which the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is being diluted by education, traditions of men seeking after miracles, and the standards of this world. Readers will be able to understand, appreciate, and embrace the message of the cross and pass it on to others.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Most importantly, I would like to thank our Father in Heaven for sending His Son the Lord, Jesus Christ to come and die for us on the cross of Calvary. It is this death that has qualified us to be called the children of God.

My gratitude goes to my husband and my children, for their spiritual and moral support.

I am as well grateful to Bishop Harrison Sakala, my Pastor at the Tabernacle of David Assembly (T.O.D.A) of God church, for being available for the Lord`s work and to make people like me to come up with this book. And Mrs Rev E. Sakala our mother and mentor. To God be the Glory.

I further, extend my gratitude to Pastor Cabra Muzyamba for offering professional and spiritual guidance in the making of this book.

    INTRODUCTION

The Christian message is not complete without mentioning the cross which is very central to Christianity. The death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary is a well-known event amongst the Christians worldwide. Christians commemorate this event commonly, known as Easter every year as they do on the day Christ was born. During this period, many Christians are in a sombre mood for three days signifying the sadness because of Christ’s death while jubilations and celebration are held on the third day signifying His resurrection. Various performances are put up in churches to depict and demonstrate what Jesus Christ went through during that period as others offer themselves to be beaten and scourged like Jesus. They carry heavy crosses and are crucified but not to death like Christ.

    Death on the Cross

A cross was an instrument made out of wood on which a person was tied or nailed until death. Crucifixion was one of the most cruel and barbarous forms of death known to man. It was practiced especially in times of war, by the Phoenicians, Egyptians, and later by the Romans. Death on the cross was slow and painful; it resulted from exhaustion, pain and lack of blood supply to the vital organs as a result, a person would die due to heart failure. It was a punishment placed on those who committed unpardonable sins or crimes worthy of death. In the book of Deuteronomy, it is written that death on the cross was the penalty for sins classified as unpardonable according to the Law of Moses.

And if a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and
