About this ebook
I was inspired by friends, lover and current events that touched my heart. The poem Heroes is attributed to the nineteen wild land Fire Fighters that died fighting the Yarnell fire, and poem the Fallen is attributed to all the Police Officers who put their lives on the line daily.

A Dream Within a Dream - A. T. Hutchinson
The In-Between
I walk the in-between not knowing neither love nor hate, or what it is to feel
my lover’s hands as they gently glide across my skin.
Knowing neither the longing of a lover’s kiss,
nor the feeling of a lover’s scorn.
I walk the in-between not knowing what it is to
neither laugh nor cry, to have that silly grin up on my face,
or to feel a single tear drop roll down my face.
Walking between the darkness and the light, striving to do what’s right,
but always being pulled toward the darkness.
I walk the in-between, between this world and the next,
neither dead nor alive, abandoned in the abyss.
Walking between the earth and the sky, my feet not touching the ground,
yet still not knowing what it is to fly.
Mother’s Day
Some may say it’s just another day but the word mother can be found in nature;
that creates the most beautiful things for us to see.
The butterflies that float along the air, the summer breeze
that gently rock the trees to and fro.
The fall leaves which turn from gold to green,
to the colorful flowers blooming in spring.
So as you can see mothers are at work throughout the year,
never taking a break or rest.
Today is a day set aside for us to show our appreciation to mothers everywhere,
for all the unseen things they do, and unconditional love that they provide to you.
A Dream within a Dream
Last night as I closed my eyes to sleep I began to dream
I dreamt of a love so pure, so true.
I dreamt of things long forgotten but for which I still yearned for deep within.
Like a dream within a dream I awoke to find her lying beside me;
She is asleep.
Gently I caressed the well-defined contour of her body,
admiring her as if seeing her for the first time.
She awoke, and turned towards me, she looked at me with those dark penetrating eyes,
Which seem to peer deep within my soul and capture my heart; I could not resist
Slowly I leaned toward her and I could feel her warm,
sweet breath on my face as our lips touched.
Her arms embraced me as if to keep me safe and secure.
This love was true, unblemished, and flawless, we lose ourselves in passion.
The love I had waited for had arrived to fill the emptiness within me;
An emptiness that has haunted me for so long.
I awake to reality to find no one beside me; I was alone in the cold dark night.
With my heart filled with love I cried, I cried not because I was lonely,
but because I know for all the love I felt I could not tell her.
And so I cried myself to sleep longing for the next dream when we could be together again.
A Lonely Man
I am a lonely man doomed to walk this world alone with hate,
and contempt in my heart which eats at me like a savaged beast
Often times I search for love, but love was nowhere to be found.
I try to find my dreams but my dreams had passed me by
I travel this world with uncertainty forced to face the morrow that waits,
but afraid, yes afraid because the only thing that waits is loneliness
alone I travel as the days slip by.
Behind I leave no past, no-one to care for; no-one to love,
my name has often been spoken by many but easily forgotten.
I’m doom to walk this world alone fill with pain and sorrow,
doom through no fault of my own.
My heart cries out, but no-one hears the turmoil I carry within.
On bended knees I pray, oh Lord, make me strong, relieve me of this burden I bear
because this world is no place for a lonely man.
For my name’s sake I’m a lonely man.
Fantasy
She stood beside me and the essence of her perfume filled the room.
My heart raced as we looked into each other’s eyes and for a moment we were lost in time.
Thoughts of reckless passion filled my mind.
Her beauty is more than mere mortal can
