This book was inspired by our Father in heaven. I was in my home when God dropped the thought to me concerning writing a book. I have been conducting family workshops and seminars called The Family Affair at my local church since the year 2007. God has led me to provide resources and information for the family, and every year, it has been a success. Some of the themes we have used have been Help, the devil is after my house and God’s kind of family. We discuss the roles of each family member to be sure the enemy is kept out of the home. For the year 2015, God said to use the theme Help, the devil is after my house. This time, he said he wanted the following discussed:

1. What are family and their home and the benefit of getting help for the family?

2. Who is the devil?

3. How does the devil get in the home?

4. How does the devil stay in the home?

5. How do you get the devil out of the home?

Various speakers as led by the Lord discussed the topics, and the Lord wanted me to speak on topic 5, how to get the devil out of the home. He blessed me with just the information he wanted his people to know, and I gave it to them just the way he gave it to me. And oh, what a blessing.

Weeks after the seminar, he said I should write a book with the information he gave me, now informing the world on a larger scale so that they can get the devil out of their homes also and so that they can win the victory every time if they take heed of his word and follow his leading.

Deuteronomy 30:19 says, I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. God wants us, as his creation, to know that when we follow his leading, we can live, and our seed can live, and we can win the victory every time.

Introduction

There has never been a day and time as it is now where information is needed that can teach parents, husbands, wives, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, and children of all ages how to win the victory and how to win the victory every time.

There is no other book so profound that can aid every household and every household member in winning the victory and keeping the true enemy, the devil, out of the home than the Bible, the written Word of God, the unadulterated word of the most high God. John 1:1, 14: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.

This is the foundational truth to every home winning the victory and winning every time. We will discuss this further in the book. However, I guarantee if you read this book with an open mind to receive and understand what the Lord is saying, you will have victory in your home every time. It doesn’t matter what your age is or how long a problem has been happening. If you make a decision to want change, you will see change.

Chapter 1

WHAT IS FAMILY?

The family is an institution that is created and ordained by God. It starts with two people God has created who fall in love, get married, and establish a covenant before God to love each other and begin God’s kind of family. God wanted and still wants the husband and the wife to replenish the earth with godly seeds, not corrupt seeds but incorruptible seeds—a family that will represent the kingdom of God. Children who are reared in the fear of the Lord will raise godly children in their generation, and it continues on and on. The whole earth will be replenished with the offspring of our Father in heaven. Can you imagine what this world will be like if all the homes follow the instructions of the Lord? It will be amazing to see adults and children strong in the Lord, living for the Lord everywhere they go, and making sure the next generation knows what is expected of God. Their seeds will pass it on, and those seeds will pass it on, and we would have a legacy of God on the earth. The enemy knows how powerful this will be and has crept in and tried to cause the families to live beneath their privilege or the goal God designed for the family.

However, it is not too late for the family because we have a Lord and savior, our Father in heaven who always wants the best for the family. The Holy Spirit is in place to lead us into all truth. However, we must make sure every member of the home knows the truth. You may be asking what the truth is. John 17:17 states, Sanctify them through thy truth; thy word is truth. Yes, the Word of God is truth, and when every member knows truth and accepts truth, miracles can take place in the home and in the lives of every member of the household. You may be saying, I hear you, but my children are teenagers or not yet grown and live in my home, but I don’t have the control over them, or, They are far gone before I can start this. Let me explain; it is never too late to save a soul from hellfire. No matter how long it has been or how old your child or situation might be, there is still hope.

Hopelessness is the biggest lie that has swept the universe, and Satan has sent it. The devil wants the families to be discouraged and feel as though there is no hope. However, there is so much hope for the family if we go back to the basics. As human beings and creations of the most high God, we have gotten so far off course from the first setup. We are told we are created to honor and praise God. We are created for praise and worship. In the book of Isaiah 8:18, it states, Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion. So know this: there is hope for your family, and you can experience change now. Your teenager can be saved, your husband can be saved, your whole house can be saved, but it is all through the power of God. You can’t save them but God can if you place them in his hand and allow him to show you what you can do to help your family. I like to put it this way: do all that you can through the plan of God, and leave all the results to the Lord.

Chapter 2

WHO IS THE DEVIL?

To begin with getting the devil out of your home, you must be able to recognize him. You have to know how he comes, why he comes, and what the result of his arrival and departure is. So many people today are blinded by the work of Satan because they feel as if the things that are happening around them are normal, as if there is nothing weird going on, although what they are seeing and feeling is odd.

The Bible declares that Satan is our enemy and that he is our adversary, in the book of John, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I [Jesus] am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. Here, the devil is discussed as a thief. Every member of all ages in the house needs to know what a thief is and what a thief does. It doesn’t matter if you have small babies; they still need to know this.

Now you may be wondering why they cannot understand. Let me explain. The adversary that is set out against your house does not care about age or strength. What he is concerned about is destroying your home. And if he can use a baby to do that, he will.

Now you may be saying, What do you mean by that? Whenever a child approaches and hits or lashes out at an adult with no fear, that child is not acting alone. There is an evil force behind it and trying to get to you. I once heard it said like this: if the enemy cannot get to you, he will try to get to the ones closest to you. Do you know why that is? It is because he knows if he can get the children acting up, it is going to bother Mom and Dad, and it is going to make it hard for them. They will begin worrying and thinking there is no help for the child and eventually turn the child totally over to him. That is what the devil and his workers are thinking. However, as an adult in your home, you must stand on guard and watch for the devil trying to enter your home or trying to attack your family members. Now if you are a born-again believer and reading this book, you already know what it is like to be attacked by the devil and what it takes to rebuke him. Can you only imagine him attacking children, who have no clue how to deal with him or no strength to do so? That is where the parents come in and teach the children how to stand against the devil even when Mommy and Daddy are not around. Once you learn this, you will know and realize that every day that your children leave home, they are armed and dangerous. The devil can try to attack, but they are equipped and skilled on how to deal with him. I have this saying in my house that when the devil shows up, we shut him down.

Every member of the house must know who the devil is, and they must know that his power is limited. He is not in control, but God is. In Luke 10:18, Jesus told the disciples that he saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Verse 19 says, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. That is the proof that this devil roaming around, trying to destroy homes and people, is limited in his power because God has given his people the power over this devil and all his devices.

Chapter 3

HOW DOES THE DEVIL GET IN THE HOUSE AND STAY IN THE HOUSE?

Now this is the area where the devil comes in, and most people are vulnerable because they don’t understand the devil’s motive and the ways through which he comes.

The devil has been around for over two thousand years, doing the same things in just different ways, and so many people still can’t recognize who he is. I have once heard it said this way: it is the same game, just different players. Although he has been around for so many years, he is not tired in what he is doing; as a matter of fact, he enjoys doing what he does. So as believers, we must enjoy seeing him defeated. Every time he tries to bring something upon our families, we should do everything within our power to educate all members of the household so we can see the enemy defeated. He takes joy in destroying homes and the lives of many. I have shared with many that the enemy studies us as believers to see how to approach us and when to approach us. He doesn’t just move in all of a sudden. He watches for patterns. He looks for times not spent praying or reading the Word and times of watching things that we should not be watching and then decides on what he will bring to us. In other words, some give him the stick to whip them with. You can’t be a lover of Satan and a lover of God at the same time. Matthew 6:24 states, No man serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. So the same way the enemy studies us is the same way we, as believers, need to study him.
