Brook ZR Mthethwa

Brook Z. R. Mthethwa was born in Kwazulu-Natal in a town called Mandeni. He was raised in different areas of Mandeni, Melmoth, Vryheid, Eshowe, and Durban (Ethekwini). His early education was in Melmoth High School in two towns Mandeni and Vryheid. His tertiary education was completed at Mangosuthu University of Technology and Durban University of Technology. His main background is in the electrical engineering sector, having an extensive experience in building services that covers hospitals and commercial facilities. He had a tough upbringing, losing his father at the age of nine. He was raised by a single mother who was unemployed and depended on her relatives for support. His late mother, Thobile Dludla, was born in Melmoth and was also raised by relatives. Second of the four siblings, Thobile only met her other siblings when they were about sixteen years old due to having lost their mom (Brook’s granny). Their father (Brook’s grandfather) was in jail for killing his wife (granny). No educational background for all of them. It was a tough upbringing for them too. Thobile Dludla and two of her sisters are now with the Lord. This work is part of recognizing her for the contribution she made to Brook’s life. Brook has been married to Thabisile Mthethwa (MaNgcobo) over ten years, and they are blessed with two kids, Khwezi and Uludumo. The author is blessed to be under the leadership of Pastor Thulani Ncanana and his wife, Mama Buyi Ncanana, the founders of Christian Worship Centre. This book is mostly provoked by the teachings emanating from both of them. They have contributed greatly in molding and empowering mostly the young ones within the community. They live in Newlands West, north of Durban. Brook is currently busy with a new kiddies brand called Intelligent Dudu & Sipho, a new brand for black cartoon heroes from South Africa.

    PREFACE

Individuals dream dreams, some are pure dreams from a good night sleep and some are conceived by thinking. Family, community, and a nation do have dreams. However, when a nation comes up with a dream, it is a profound mission for that particular nation.

In this book we are looking at the topic taken from the book of Proverbs chapter 13 verse 22a (NKJV) A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.

Therefore, the title that I’ve given this book is:

    BUILDING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

Hope that you will be blessed by the topics that we will be tackling and the issues we are going to raise about building for the next generation, in particular about individuals, families, villages, nation and the spiritual growth of such.

    CHAPTER 1

    For the generations to come.

Laying a foundation is not always easy more especially if that particular generation is the first fruit of a kind generation. Plans are to be made, not just plans but proper plans with good ideas. It is even more complicated if that kind of a generation does not have reference point to start with because that is sometimes used as a starting point for the future.

Plans, ideas, structures, and dreams are part of building. Prior to approval, plans are framed in a mind of a human being or a nation. Then they get drafted down on paper as a sign of conceived dreams to be accomplished.

In an Industrial world or in construction field, before the buildings are constructed, plans have to be approved, given a stamp of approval for the construction to begin by the qualified personnel. Qualified personnel test, scrutinize, ask critical questions about the plans and the purposes of the structures to be built.

Any building that is built without the approval of these qualified personnel is in danger of being destroyed by the responsible authorities due to non-compliance, before winds, earthquake, or storms can destroy it. They can be destroyed due to a wrong location, poor quality and for not following the drawings or the approved plans.

The bible talks about a parable where two people decided to build their houses. One on top of a rock and one in a sandy place, the outcome of storms and wind are known. Jesus also talks about the person who decided to build a house without calculating the costs. He fails to finish the building and men make jokes out of his poor planning.

When God started to build for his next generation:

When God decided to build his nation, for the future coming of His Son Jesus, He started with Joseph through a dream. When God gave Joseph a dream, the first thing he did was to talk about his dreams. He did not understand the dream nor did his relatives understand his dreams. I am not sure whether did you understand the part I have just mentioned.

His dreams were big dreams to build and save the next generation, call it a race of God or a peculiar nation. Now, there are two things which are involved when you build for the next generation. First is a dream, secondly is to talk about that dream knowingly or unknowingly.

To cut the story short, Joseph was taken to Egypt for his dream to start. When he was in Egypt, Potiphar the officer of Pharaoh bought him. Joseph was a blessed man, he became a supervisor and the Lord blessed
