The Joy of Journaling
Dedication
I know that I probably would not be writing now if it weren’t for my parents, Steve and Loretta Wasniewski who always stressed the importance of a good education. They made many sacrifices in their lives so that my brother and sisters and I could have the best education possible.
I thank my mom for being patient with me as I would often be writing instead of doing my jobs around the house.
I thank my dad for his hard work so that he could send all of us children to good schools. I hope they are both smiling down on this book (and on me) and knowing that it was made possible because of their love and belief in me.
They both believed that no matter what we do in life, we should do it with joy and happiness. Thank you mom and dad.
Acknowledgements
I want to thank all my grade school and high school teachers for they were the ones who encouraged my love of writing when I was very young.
Also, I wish to thank the Dominican Sisters of Springfield and especially Sr. Francene, OP, Sr. Monica Marie, OP who I am sure is smiling down from the heavens, and Sr. Katherine O’Connor, OP. They encouraged me to teach creative writing and many times I also was able to squeeze in the idea of the art of journal writing into those lessons.
All the teachers at St. Christina School in Chicago, Illinois and especially my teaching partners and friends, Mary Jansen and Sr. Mary Bride, OP, I thank you for years of laughter, support and enjoyable lunch talk on the smoke
side of the hall.
A special thanks to my good friend, Fr. Peter Kirwin, OFM who always encouraged
