    INTRODUCTION

What began as a gathering of thoughts and memories for my loves has taken on a life of its own. What was to be gathered in a ring binder and tucked away for discovery by my children when I am gone from this earth, now wears a beautiful cover and is shared with you! Always being a writer, the written word flowing through my fingers has served as my unconditional friend. It is where I have sorted the challenges of life, and kept record of the blessings and joys bestowed me. Sometimes my writing has been where I chatted with my inner child, and my Father above, when others didn’t care enough to listen. For me, the music of words is both a blessing and a curse that I cherish closely and am forever grateful for.

We have all walked paths leaving footprints along the way. We influence the lives of those we touch, and are forever influenced by the touches we receive. Good and bad, every breath forms who we are and who we become through the years. It is my belief that we all seek to be loved, to find a purpose in our days, and to leave a legacy when we are gone. For me, I wish for my legacy to be of kindness, love, and that I have made a positive contribution to this crazy world. Also, for me, I know that my writing is one way that my legacy will live beyond my days.

As an author, I sense the words that flow through me do not always come from within me. While they can consume me at the craziest of times, it has become clear through the years that I am a vehicle used for things I am not always able to see in the moment. Still, I know there is always purpose for good. As you read this book it is my hope that you will see and discover yourself through its writings. I am a mother, grandmother, and women of faith. I am creative. I am strong. I am loved. I survived while being told I could never, and I have grown beyond my own expectations of self.

As a child I knew that I ‘needed’ to write, yet only recently have I allowed myself to wear the hat of ‘author’. Discovery of self comes through the journey of life. At times, surrender and allowing oneself to simply be is enough. While life has not always been easy, hope has always lived within me. Sometimes in hiding, hope and intentions of living a life of kindness have remained alive. At times, hope is all I have held on to.

As I release this first book to the world, I do so not knowing how it will serve. It is a vulnerable moment, yet also a time filled with excitement and anticipation of what is to be. Sending this off to the world reminds me of releasing my children in reluctance as they ventured off to find their own way in life. I wanted to keep them close, but knew they needed to be set free to find and serve their own purpose. Those close to me know my heart and prayers always protect my loves and those that they touch in their lives. As Pillow Talks and Comforters drifts off under eagles wings, I too send off my heart love and prayers to those who it will serve and touch.

My gratitudes flow for the risks I have taken, and for those whom have stood beside me through life. Not all have believed in me, and at times I also have not believed in myself. Today is a new day! Today, as I send my book child off in to the world, another new beginning is taking flight. May it live and serve well. Blessed I am!

    Pillow,

    Are you really God?

Are you one of His angels?

I think it might be so.

When I hold you close and tell you my heart,

I feel as though my God is listening.

Within your folds I feel safe and secure,

Almost as if another were here.

I think and I talk and I empty my soul

To a case filled with feathers and foam.

I snuggle with dreams of what will be

As my heart travels far and begins to roam.

If God so chose, He could be my pillow!

Of this I have no doubt.

For God is God and can be what He chooses.

He does the impossible, which makes all things possible!

And to Him, nothing is unknown.

    So tell me, dear pillow,

    Are you God in disguise?

With all of your wisdoms and consoling ways,

    As you comfort without arms

    And listen without ears,

I sense you are God and have been all these years!

Whichever it is, whomever you are,

I thank you, my friend and/or God!

    For through storms of night

    And sunshine of morn,

    While others have wandered,

    Beside me you’ve stayed.

My comforter, my friend, my God!

    42609.png

As your pillow, I’ve listened and learned from you much

    Through the sharing of tears,

    Through the sharing of fears,

And even in sleep through your dreams.

The moments of wonderment in silence of night,

Alone and armless I hold you tight,

Simply a pillow of feathers and foam.

    The blessings of wisdoms roam.

You matter to many yet question your meaning.

The ways you walk and the lives you touch

Are godly and filling to others who seek.

Yet you fail to see even a peek

Of the goodness you give and the love you share

Simply by showing others you care.

I offer these words for you to see

The ways that God has made you to be

As His tool for good and sharing of love,

Sent from the One who leads from above.

I know you will worry. It is who you are.

I know that your faith will continue to lead.

As you walk through the days before you,

Look up to the heavens when feeling weak,

Trusting His will and asking for strength

To again step onward and bless those who seek.

    A new day will dawn.

    Fresh beginnings are born

    With the sunrise of skies,

    And smiles adorning.

    Your pillow believes in you;

    You should too!

You are loved … go touch the world.
