Color Me Colorless - Eric Williams
SALAMI, CHEESE AND CRACKAS
Grandma what we gon’ eat tonight?
The ceiling light dies with a yellow tint
Me and the baby sister
Grandma always falls through with a plan for dinner
Salami, cheese and crackas
We both gave her a hug and kissed her
Believe it or not, when I was a kid, this was the best meal
Aside from calling every meat chicken,
Just a bunch of country fixin’s
And grandma still trying to get auntie to help her out in the kitchen
And when that doesn’t come true
A box of Ritz can fall through
Deli salami and cheese
Begging grandma for dinner
Please!!!
Alright-alright, hush!
A store pickle
Grandma stuffed it up with Jolly Ranchers.
I always wondered what the sweet red crystals were
Time for some more salami and cheese on these crackas!
Oh, but wait, a small bag of nuts
Get chucked in a Pepsi bottle
We all get buzzed on peanuts and soda
Oh grandma can spoil her babies
Grandma, wake up, wake up!
I guess after a bunch of sweets and a super sugar rush
Grandma’s daily dozing was always looked to.
So we slept beside her quietly
And then just shortly after
If no one else was up, I’d munch on those salami cheese and crackas!
CARTOON CENTRAL
HEY! Look it’s Arnold
And that mean girl that likes him
Courage the Cowardly Dog Show and all the fears that try to fight him
I wanna be like Courage,
I always said
He wasn’t really a coward, just scared of the things inside his head
Honestly? That show had me messed up, all those twisted situations
I hesitated to change the channel but when I did,
Recess was always there to help me escape
And when school came around, I ended up missing forty-seven days
Thanks TJ,
I guess that’s why the 90’s cartoons always amazed me
Made me wild like the Thornberries
Tried to find a clue as to why I couldn’t fit inside a book
So reality kicked in and I had the blues
But Little Bear never gave up
And neither did Franklin
Watching cartoons in the 90s man, I always sank in
I even learned that, under the water the fish don’t stink
Not that I ever tried to smell
I was young, not stupid
The Rugrats always had me fired up
I was invincible with my diaper on
My sister thought she was cool too
And when she acted all big and bad….
Out came the Iron Giant marathon
I had a Dr. Seuss toy and named it Hogarth.
That movie had me in all types of moods
Sit and eat
