    Thoughts for a Lifetime

The thought of myself as a writer never really occurred to me. I didn’t set out to become a writer as such. But, we’re taught by connecting letters we can make words visible, and so becoming our thoughts for all to see. I didn’t set out to become an artist either, but forms have a way of connecting us to our psyche.

From my earliest memories and on through my growing up years, through marriage, having children, being a mom, and a homemaker, through trauma; many unanswered questions developed and accumulated over time as to the choices I had made, and why. (The WHY being full of self-honesty!)

What we have before us is a journey of introspection; offering a closer look at our inner-workings. Leaves me wondering, could my quest work for others as well?

Seeking thankfulness for my history by acknowledging the negative side of my life, has become my journey. By allowing a negative to become a positive for the end result, revealing accountability, will be my focus.

Could these thoughts have a connection for others? Look out, company has arrived. Welcome!

With a pen in my hand and a notebook on my lap, looking out over my balcony to the pathway below, there’s a biker with a dog trailing, shadows are becoming longer; in the distance there’s a highway with cars coming and going; every life going in a direction, pursuing a destination. Questions abound! Is life full of missions pointing us in directions of fulfillment and purpose?

Once purpose is recognized, what then? Does recognition turn into commitment? This could be The Wizard of Oz all over again!

    From Child to Adult

As a child, how do we get to know who we are? While growing up under the influence of our caretakers, all we knew how to do was to react to their treatment of us, or the direction they would give us according to their upbringing.

Expressing our feelings at this young age was to show us as being eager to please, or otherwise, to be happy, or otherwise. All the while, we may have been feeling scared, fearful, hurt, or unsure. As long as we are reacting to the ways of others; how are we ever going to get to know who we are? We’re learning quite a bit about ourselves through the eyes of others, positive or negative, creating much confusion about how we feel, and how we feel about the others in our lives.

At this young age, most of us are not equipped with the maturity of understanding the circumstances of others. Our thoughts were, more than likely, trying to figure out how we could fit in. Just when do we start to think of ourselves as individuals? And where do we acquire this knowledge of ourselves?

There are things about oneself, like a mystery, asking to be revealed. Curiosity opens many paths for us to explore. Our curiosity will lead us to where we will find ourselves. And to find oneself is to find one’s treasure. But we’re not there yet!

What seems like one miracle after another coming from the sky above and the earth below; what are we learning about ourselves? What is Mother Nature teaching us? Appreciation and gratitude would be a good start. We are beginning to see beyond ourselves along with the beauty and knowledge of nature. But, a beautiful sunset can be followed by a devastating tornado.

The earth is ever changing, and I am changing too! I am becoming me.

Whatever age we might be in, a continuous light
