About this ebook

A permanent and quick solution for all life issues is presented here.
How unlikely it may seem, every person has the ability to unfold their full potential in life. This book describes how to get it back within six hours. It is an innovative approach derived from the millennia old conception of man of the Hawaiian life philosophy Huna. In this concept each person has three levels of consciousness with a functional relationship between feelings, emotions, beliefs, behavior, and rational thinking. It recognizes intrapersonal communication as the key to resolving life issues. Re-establishing intrapersonal communication between these levels of consciousness automatically results in permanent resolution and prevention of life issues.

This book describes the remarkably simple methodology to guide people through their process of resolving life issues. It contains background information and step-by-step processes of the complete methodology.

Author

Hans Mojet

Hans Mojet worked as senior business psychologist for a Dutch consultancy firm for 25 years. In this period he focused on development of the personal effectiveness of people working in organizations. He noticed a reoccurring theme with people who struggled with life issues. They could not find a permanent remedy. Hans came to the realization that an innovative approach was needed to resolve life issues both permanently and quickly. He decided to start his own company and developed the methodology which has been practiced very successfully since then for more than 20 years. In addition to practicing this method himself Hans shares it with prospective practitioners such as therapists, coaches, H.R. staff, and the like. This book assists in passing on the methodology effectively and consistently.

    Preface

However unlikely it may seem, the subject of this book is that all life issues can be permanently resolved within six hours, thereby unfolding people’s ability to realize their full potential and desires in life. The results of this innovative, methodical therapy has been confirmed during 20 years of practice with over 700 individuals who were otherwise mentally healthy clients.

A few dozen of them have even experienced unexpected and sometimes spectacular health improvements. About 35 percent of all clients had previously followed long-term therapies without the expected results.

These figures have also been verified by a number of life coaches who use our methods in their practice.

Many people experience life issues. These issues result in them feeling insecure in terms of their ability to cope. As a result, they lose effectiveness and become increasingly unhappy, not knowing how to handle their life challenges.

Seeking help for psychological crises, they want tangible assistance that is quick and effective. However, such help is hard to find. Most conventional therapies often take a lot of time and in many cases do not always lead to the desired results.

Even back in 1976, when the development of the described methodology began, quick and effective help wasn’t available. That’s why I was very surprised when I was struck by a sudden intuitive hunch that said quick and effective help is possible within a few hours. Working as a senior consultant at a renowned psychological institute, I asked my colleagues if they knew of such a development. Their responses ranged from a head-shaking smile to outbreaks of laughter and this is utter nonsense. However, this inspired me to try to discover where such help could be found because in my opinion ‘everything already exists’. The findings of my tour of discovery are presented in this book, which shows how to gain or give quick and effective help in a systematic way with results that are clearly defined beforehand.

One of the main findings is that the solution for life issues can be realized by applying Intrapersonal (inner) Communication. Beyond that, it can also help a person to make the right decisions in their life. Even the described methodology in this book is a result of Intrapersonal Communication.

This manner of communication has existed for many millennia as part of the Hawaiian life philosophy Huna. In the West, conceptions of man are based on a rational consciousness, whereby feelings and emotions disturb the ratio. The Hawaiian conception of man recognizes a functional relationship between feelings, emotions, beliefs, rational thinking and behavior. Intrapersonal Communication is considered crucial for harmonizing this relationship and is therefore the key to preventing and permanently resolving ongoing life issues.

Feelings and emotions generate beliefs. These beliefs are a result of everyone’s experiences since birth and are the dominant factors in terms of what we are able to attain. Such beliefs can also stem from negative or even traumatic experiences and may reduce our ability to function properly and thus cause life issues. This is why Huna teaches that it is necessary to cleanse our memories and to let go of negative experiences from the past for an effective and happy life today. Huna therefore also includes the cleansing process Ho’oponopono, which is essentially a specific intrapersonal communication process of forgiveness that helps people to disconnect from past negative experiences and traumas.

Joyce, my wife and colleague, and I have been acquainted with Ho’oponopono in our daily lives since 1989. It first allowed us to absorb the essence of this Hawaiian cleansing process. We then understood how to transpose its purpose "to attain and maintain an effective and happy life" into a simple and effective instrument for Westerners, as outlined in this book.

Even the small size of the book illustrates the simplicity of the methodology. However, it contains all the necessary information to fully understand this therapy.

The methodical instrument outlined in the book will be of great benefit to anyone who is willing to open their mind to what is for Westerners the ‘innovative’ Hawaiian conception of man. These people will have the opportunity to develop greater awareness of how learning since birth created their behavior and caused their life issues. On the other hand, they will learn how life issues can be resolved and bring inner peace by removing ‘dead wood’ from their consciousness. So, even lay people can benefit from the content of this book, although this is not a pure self-help book.

After all, the described methodology is a systematic therapy under guidance of a professional therapist or mentor/coach.

The working methods we have developed over the years can be applied by a wide range of professional therapists, coaches and counselors. I therefore offer this book to all my professional colleagues who want to help their clients quickly and effectively. They will find all the information required to become fully cognizant of this systematic instrument and provide appropriate help in just a few hours. Once they acquire this information, the described methodology can be easily adopted in their practice and/or can be modeled to specific circumstances after having mastered the methodology itself.

Last but not least, those working in human resources can also benefit from this new methodology. While drawing on their own professional education and experience, the book will allow them to ascertain why and when people may be functioning below their full capacity. They will also discover new insights into how potential long-term sickness absence risks can be diagnosed in an early stage for at-risk people. The book therefore contains a questionnaire to help in this process and is based on our findings from 20 years of practice with over 700 clients.

Human resource professionals will thus be able to prevent actual long-term sickness absence by mentoring/coaching co-workers, based on the methodology described in this book.

May this book bring solutions that you never expected.

    Introduction

Life issues can be permanently resolved in just a few hours. This was the exact wording of my intuitive hunch in 1976. The premise was so different from common practice at the time that the issue at hand had to be addressed in a genuinely innovative way. Innovation in a certain field involves a review and often redefinition of common assumptions. Otherwise, innovation involving a fundamental renewal within the field concerned cannot occur. Much work therefore had to be done to realize my intuitive hunch.

As a professional, I knew that the help given to people experiencing life issues at the time (and still today) involves regarding humans as rational beings. After all, one’s view on things, what one deems possible and what not, determines what a person can do with a situation and how it is dealt with.

The worshiping of Mary in the Roman Catholic Church as the ‘Mother of God’ is one example. Those who regard her as such will behave accordingly and pray to her. Those who do not see her this way will not pray to her.

Another example originates in China, where approximately 5,000 years ago the functioning of the meridian system in the human body was discovered. Although it initially paved the way for preventive health care, the system was also eventually used to conduct painless surgery.

A different conception of man as a rational being seemed quite plausible to me and a highly probable condition for transforming the intuitive message into reality. However, the actual conception of man that was required at first remained a big question.

Then there was also the question of how exactly were ‘life issues’ to be defined. In an attempt to fully understand the conceptual meaning of ‘life issues’, the feasible conclusion was: these issues are human behavior problems that limit the capacity for ‘maintaining’ oneself within the social environment. ‘Maintaining’ is essentially interpreted as the ability of otherwise mentally healthy people to function effectively and lead a happy life.

In turn, this definition begged the question what then is the nature and cause of these problems and limitations? What is it people do that leads them to experience these difficulties?

It seemed obvious that the specialist psychological literature at the time would not have the answers to realize the intuitive possibility to rapidly solve life issues. And if it did, the solution would have already existed. Having said that, however, I don’t really enjoy studying literature in depth, as theory is not my main interest.

As a client-oriented, pragmatic therapist, my actions are primarily influenced by practical applicability, usability and the evaluation of facts, rather than by ideology or theory. In my opinion, ‘facts’ may not only be verified by ‘hard’ quantitative evidence but can just as easily be validated through my own qualitative experiences and those of many others. This is, after all, how ‘experience physics’ began, a subject that Gary Zukav offers a good deal of interesting insight into.¹

I decided that the best option was to first take a close look at what I had done (or had not done) in the lead up to my burnout in the past and my experiences during that burnout. Following that, I would thoroughly examine what people brought to their life issues, based on those who I had encountered as a specialist dealing with conflict resolution, coaching and life issues.

However, the exact view of man to be adopted at that stage still remained a big question. The answer to this came when I was least expecting it. A highly appropriate conception of man came my way via an unexpected source, Hawaiian culture. Its conception of man is remarkable because it accounts for intrapersonal communication.

This idea matched my first experiences of researching into the origins of my own and others’ life issues. These issues had emerged because I was insufficiently capable of recognizing that my feelings at the time were the result of past experiences. In my mind, these feelings were entirely attributable to the present. Consequently, they completely switched off my rational thinking and I went on to make utterly wrong decisions, for which I paid dearly later on.

Today, many years have passed and the major part of my voyage of discovery that led to my intuition being realized is behind me. An important step along the way was the opening of our own practice at the end of 1994, which allowed me to achieve my goal. Since then, I’ve learned an awful lot of things that had never even occurred to me before. The most important accomplishment, apart from helping clients, has consisted of a number of discoveries or findings that were made in conjunction with my wife and colleague, Joyce. These discoveries or findings about the resolution of life issues are rather simple. At the same time though, they are also quite important. It therefore seemed worthwhile to write them down so that other people could benefit from them as well. Consequently, this book is not to be regarded as a scientific paper and does not comprise numerical charts or statistical overviews. It is rather the practical outcome of an inquiring discourse on how human behavior causes life issues that began in 1976 and is a reflection of my and Joyce’s discoveries and experiences gained during 20 years of practice.

The discoveries/findings that form the core of the methodology described in this book include the following.

    1. As previously stated, we identified a conception of man that is different from the commonly adopted one of man as a rational being. This other conception of man stems from Hawaii and allows room for non-rational issues in human life, something we are all confronted with. It affords particular insight into the purpose and meaning of feelings and emotions, how to deal with them and how these aspects determine the effectiveness of people’s actions and their personal happiness.

    2. This conception of man demonstrates how intrapersonal communication plays a vital role in living effectively and happily. It shows how intrapersonal communication can help to resolve life issues but also how, when lacking, it can actually result in life issues.

    3. Furthermore, this conception of man shows that behavior is not determined by what people want, but that their accomplishments and limitations are actually the result of their subconscious beliefs.

    4. No matter how life issues manifest themselves, they are always caused by a childlike self-concept that exists on a subconscious level, which is accompanied by a supposed dependence on people in one’s surroundings in order to survive. The main aspect involved in resolving life issues entails transforming this childlike self-concept into a valuable adult self-concept under guidance using a person’s own intrapersonal communication.

    5. Even after this transformation process, there are people who still do not have full access to all their desired abilities. They need to be helped by using their own intrapersonal communication to resolve one or more of the following blockages: failure to take full responsibility for all their actions, their resentment and/or their lack of self-acceptance. Depending on how many blockages need to be resolved, four or less interventions are required for resolving all life issues for good, whatever these may be, as has been demonstrated during our 20 years of practice.

    6. People affected by life issues have great difficulty in acting effectively in five fixed social situations. At first glance, these situations appear to have little to do with the life issues experienced. Nevertheless, they highlight the specific limitations and difficulties of dependent people who experience life issues. These difficulties are therefore called ‘core issues’.

    7. No matter how rationally motivated people are to resolve their life issues, there is always a possibility that inner objections to their personal development completely block them from doing so.

    8. Whatever the life issues of a person may be, they are without exception linked to relationships with people in general, particularly those in their surroundings. Relationship problems are always pivotal. Therefore, the most effective approach to solving conflicts in relationships is to first deal with the underlying problems of the individual partners in a conflict. In most cases, people then prove to be perfectly capable of solving the issues between them independently by working together.

The goal of this book is to offer fellow professionals and other interested parties the opportunity to take advantage of the knowledge and experience we have gained. To
