450047951.jpgThe hot afternoon sun beat down on Alexander and his buddy Caleb as they wearily hiked along the rocky trail near their Boy Scout camp in northern New Mexico. The trail led down the side of a mountain to the camp in the valley below near the Rio Grande River.
Man,
Caleb said, it sure is hot! I can’t wait to get back to camp so we can jump in the pool with the rest of our troop.
No kidding!
agreed Alexander. I guess we’re the last ones to finish the orienteering challenge. Everyone else is already back at camp.
Yeah, about that…I really appreciate you taking me as your partner for the orienteering badge. I know I’m not as good at this stuff as the other guys, so I probably slowed you down. You’d have been finished a long time ago if not for me,
Caleb said.
Aw, don’t worry about it. We got it done, right? That’s all that matters, and pretty soon we’ll be cooling off with the rest of the guys in the pool,
Alexander replied.
Yep,
said Caleb, and we must be getting close to camp because I can hear the guys playing in the pool!
