Serial Killer
black.jpgA s I was laying awake in the darkness, I heard a female scream out for help. I got up out of bed trying not to wake my wife, walked over to the window and looked out, but I couldn’t hear any more screaming. I went back to bed but I couldn’t get back to sleep as I was thinking about the screaming I had heard.
The next morning when my wife got up she went down stairs to make some breakfast then she looked out of the kitchen window and saw police coming out of a neighbour’s house across the road. She called up to me and said Jerry comes here quickly.
I ran downstairs and saw my wife looking out of the window with tears in her eyes. As we looked out together the police carried out a long black body bag. As they lifted it up to put it in the back of a black van, a woman’s arm fell out and a police officer saw this and covered it up quickly before anyone saw it, but it was too late, we did.
All that day neighbours were bringing flowers and leaving them outside the dead woman’s house. A young W.P.C. was standing watching them. The next day when I was on my way to work, I bought a ‘Sun’ paper to read on the train. I saw in big letters on the front page Serial killer strikes again.
In small letters it said, A woman’s body was found yesterday, her heart cut out of her chest and left beside her still pumping warm blood out on to the carpet.
I looked up from the paper and saw an old lady sitting on the seat next to me. She said, It is getting really bad in this town and the police aren’t doing anything about it. It looks like we have to take the law into our own hands.
I said Oh my god. What is this world coming to?
I got up from my seat and got of the train at the next stop and made my way to the taxi rank outside the station. As soon as a taxi came in I got in it and it drove off. When I got back home and opened the front door I ran all over the house calling to my wife, Michelle, but she was nowhere to be seen. I even checked the back garden but there was no sign of my wife. Then I heard a key turning in the lock and in walked Michelle. I walked up to her and put my arms around her and kissed her gently on the lips and told her how much I love her.
Then I showed her the ‘Sun’ paper and it really upset Michelle and she started to cry. I told Michelle as long as I’m around no one would hurt her. And then she asked me why I was not at work. I told her that my place was by her side to keep her safe.
That night when we were settling down for the evening watching a late film called"
The Fairy Tale" there was a news flash. A reporter said that the police had found another women’s body hanging in an ally-way by her feet. She had been slit the whole length of her torso and opened up just like a pig in a slaughterhouse. All her blood and organs were missing. This made the police officer that found her hanging there very sick. Then the reporter said they would keep us all updated as it happened. Then it went back to the film. When the film ended we locked all the doors and windows, then we went up stairs. It was very hot that night so I opened the window to let some air into the room and went to bed.
That night the wind started to blow really hard and all night we could hear the trees blowing in the wind. The dustbins were being blown about and the cats were crying out. Then Michelle fell asleep and I stayed there for a minute just looking at her sleeping peacefully then I kissed her and said goodnight. I turned over and fell asleep. I woke next morning to find Michelle looking down at me holding a cup of tea. I smiled at her and said Good morning sweetheart and how are you feeling today?
Michelle bent down and kissed me and said, Why don’t we go away for the weekend.
I said, OK
as we needed a break. Why don’t we go and visit our daughter Tracey in Birmingham?
Michelle said she would like that. That morning when I was having a shower, I could hear Michelle talking to someone on the phone, then she said good bye.
When I came down from the shower, Michelle said that it had been Tracey on the ‘phone, just finding out how we were doing. Michelle said that she had told her that we would be visiting her on the weekend, and that Tracey was looking forward to seeing us again. I called Michelle over to where I was sitting at the table and kissed her then I told her how proud I was to have her as my wife. A big smile came on Michelle’s face. Then she told me I’d better make a move or I’d be late for work. I finished my breakfast, put my coat on and I walked to the front door with Michelle. I kissed her on the doorstep and said good bye. When I got to work, they were all talking about the serial killer. One of the staff said that it looked like the serial killer was targeting lonely women.
At tea break, I phoned Michelle up and asked her to meet me at a restaurant for lunch, as it would be nice for a change. Then I phoned the local restaurant up and booked a table for two. When one clock came around I met Michelle outside the restaurant where she was waiting for me. As we walked in we were shown to our table and we were given the menu and wine list. We ordered white wine with Lobster Thermion. After the meal, I put my arm across the table. Holding a red rose, I put it in Michelle’s hand and said how beautiful she looked.
Then I said, Instead of waiting for the weekend, why don’t we leave after work tonight and visit Tracey
. Michelle said, Ok.
I said to Michelle that I would pick up some petrol on the way home from work. Then I had other drink of white wine, kissed Michelle and told her that I would see her later. I went back to work and asked my boss if I could have some time off. He said yes, I could have a week off, so I thanked him and left work early.
When I got home Michelle was waiting for me with our cases all ready packed, so I put them in the boot of the car and went back in side to have something to eat. I pulled out a map of Birmingham to see which route would be best to take. After we had a cup of tea, we set off to taking the M1 all the way up to Birmingham to see Tracey. When we got there we pulled up into the car park at the back of Tracey’s house. She came out to meet us and to help us with our cases. When we got inside, she showed us to our room and, after unpacking our thing, we went down stairs to see Tracey.
Then Michelle sat down with Tracey in the front room and asked her if she had heard about all the dead bodies that the police had found. Tracey said, Yes Mother and they have found another one this morning.
Michelle looked at her daughter Tracey and asked her how she knew this. Tracey said it had been on the morning news. She turned the T.V. on and we waited for the evening news to come on. Sure enough, there was a news flash. A reporter was standing out side a school just down the road from our house. He said that the serial killer had struck again in St. Albans. Apparently, earlier that day two young boys had been playing football when they found a naked body of a woman lying face down in a school swimming pool. When the police jumped in and turned her over, they found that the serial killer had cut her heart out, which they had found on the school roof.
When they had taken the body to the local hospital to do some tests, a doctor noted that the dead woman’s eyes were missing. Then the police asked if any one last saw this lady alive to please come forward as they needed to catch this killer before he kills again. Then the reporter came back on and said if there is any more news, they would keep us up dated. I could see that this was upsetting Michelle and Tracey so I got up and turned it off.
That evening we all when down the local pub to have a drink to forget about what we heard on the news. Tracey looked up and said What kind of person would do a thing like that?
All I could say to her was that it must be a mad man that would do such things, so not to worry her pretty head about it. The time was getting on so when we finished our drinks I went to get our coats. When I turned around I saw Michelle giving Tracey a cuddle. I stood there for a little while watching them with a smile on my face. Then at that moment they looked over to the corner and saw me watching them then they started to giggle together. I walked over with the coats and we went out side and put our coats on. We started walked back to Tracey’s house and we all forgot about the serial killer. We had a very good evening, laughing and joking all the way home.
That night when I was laying in bed with Michelle in my arms I said to her Why don’t you and Tracey go shopping tomorrow morning and get something nice in? I can get started on the garden as it looks like it really needs it.
She kissed me and said OK
darling. The next morning at the breakfast table I handed some money to Tracey and said Buy yourself some thing nice
. After breakfast Michelle and Tracey drove off to town and I started on the front garden. When they came back home in the afternoon, they caught me sitting in the back garden with my feet up drinking a cold beer.
I didn’t hear them walking up behind me. And they both stood there for a little while and made me jump. Then they said that they were sorry for doing that. We all went inside for something to eat. While they were cooking in the kitchen, I told them that I was going down to the pub
