Zipping my suitcase shut, I had one last look around my childhood bedroom.
Boxes piled by the door, my pictures taken down.
I felt a pang of sadness.
It was September 2017, I was 25 and I was moving out of the home I’d grown up in and into my own place.
‘Remember, I’m always just a phone call away,’ my mum Samantha, then 47, smiled.
Having raised me and my older brother by herself, we were extremely close.
Like two peas in a pod, we always laughed.
She was not only my role model, but my best friend.
