Are you ready to change your life?

Put on your running shoes, grab a bottle of water and a towel. You’re at the starting line. On your mark, get set, GO!

    Preface

Throughout time, philosophers (and anyone else who had occasion to ponder) have asked the age-old question, What is the meaning of life and humankind’s place in its scheme? Today, with advancements in medical science and the information age coming at us at the speed of light, the focus has shifted from the bigger picture to individual action. Therefore, the question has become, What can I do to make the most of my life and achieve everything that I want to do and enjoy? This rather topical, self-centered approach is necessary in order to get things done for ourselves and for those who rely on us for support and sustenance; and, because the pressures shouldered by today’s active, working-age society are enormous, we would be remiss not to place emphasis on what each of us can do to make our lives better – and, thus, contribute meaningfully to our world.

In order to be active participants in life, we have to be healthy. The cliché is true, and cannot be invoked too often: Health is everything. Without it, productivity becomes impossible. A healthy lifestyle is a direct result of cultivating intelligent habits, like exercising and eating nutritious foods. Often, people think of exercising as a chore – something to avoid (such as eating right, paying attention to sleeping patterns, etc.). In reality, however, exercising can – and should be - pleasurable and, even, conduce to joy. In fact, one of the effects of exercising is the production of feel good hormones, called endorphins, which govern physically pleasurable sensations – natural feelings of euphoria. Eating right is also essential to healthy living and longevity and should be practiced in tandem with a regular exercise routine.

In presenting a compilation of facts and references relating to the joys of exercising, I hope to inspire others to answer the question, what can I do to improve my quality of life? Because I have a genuine interest in and passion for self-improvement through exercising and proper dietary habits, I want to share my acquired knowledge (derived from many Internet web sites and personal interviews with experts), and urge my readers to embark with me on the path to wellness and fulfillment.
