About this ebook

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the Lord of the enemies.
Psalm 107:2

Many questions have been asked concerning the redeemed or redemption, such as, What is the meaning of the word redeemed, who are the redeemed, or is there a process one must go through in order to obtain redemption? Ministers, soul winners, and missionaries alike are approached with these questions at some time or another.

Most people asking these questions truly are seeking honest answers. Not often one will ask questions on redemption for sarcastic reasons.

For some unknown reason, these questions create problems and misunderstanding for some and causes confusion for others. It is the authors determination to solve some of the problems and clear the minds of some who may be confused.

The questions and problems in this presentation are of great significance because they present the arguments for this study.

One most important factor as we enter this field of study is that we must use the absolute, correct approach in answering any questions, but especially questions where religion and Christianity are concerned. The second most important factor is that one must have some background and knowledge on the subject matter before attempting to answer any question and most importantly any question that is biblical.

Third, one must be able to rightly divide the matter, the material, the evidence, and the proof of the issue that is being discussed or argued.

To fulfill the prescribed course work, I am presenting this thesis of not less than forty thousand words in length.

This entire work will culminate, if approved, in a degree of master of theology (ThM) with a deep interest in the field of Christian education as an instructor.

It is also my sincere desire to continue my work in this field and to immediately start working on a doctorate degree in theology, again my main focus being Christian education.

I have no doubt that teaching is my calling for the work in the Masters vineyard.

    Unethical Thoughts

Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.

    —Isaiah 26:3-4

I commenced this phase of work with a mind filled with questions. These questions must be answered before I can continue my study in the field of Christian education.

The answers must be valid and true. True answers must be confirmed by facts. Facts must be proven by evidence, and evidence must be solidified by exhibition, manifestation, or by the Word of God.

In Psalm 119:160, it is written, Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.

Who then would disapprove or invalidate the Word of God? Only a fool! The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity (Psalm 53:1). Therefore, I shall use the Word of God and the Holy Spirit as the authorities and governing bodies in this work.

    a. The Mind

While it is true the mind is described as the intellect, the psyche, and the brain, it is also the reasoning faculty or the reasoning power. As the heart is constantly pumping blood through the veins and arteries of the body, the mind/brain is constantly thinking, wondering, and dreaming.

Both organs are stimulated by some type of force. The heart is stimulated by the force of breathing. The mind is stimulated by the force of thought. Our thought patterns are controlled by a force called good or evil.

Just as the pendulum of the old grandfather clock swings to and fro under the combined forces of gravity and momentum, so the mind is controlled by forces of good thoughts or evil thoughts, good reasoning or evil reasoning. Unfortunately, there is no middle ground. The gray matter of the brain is of no effect in the matter of reasoning (especially where spiritual matters are concerned).

As mentioned earlier, this phase of work deals with questions—question that are frequently asked by new converts or nonbelievers. It is my intent to answer some, if not all, of the questions with accuracy by the aid of the Holy Spirit leading me in the Holy Word as I complete this phase of my thesis/study.

Scriptures, often misread or misunderstood, in either case will occasionally force questions in the mind.

For example, St. John 3:16 reads thus, For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believed in him should not parish, but have everlasting life. Not a question, but a promise. As the reader continues to read, he or she will also find these words by St. John 6:37 saying, All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

These scriptures are clearly written; they cannot be misunderstood and misinterpreted, or can they?

I shall attempt to dissect both scriptures to answer the following questions:

    Question number 1

Will the world be saved because the Son died for it?

    Question number 2

Did the Father choose a certain number of people to give to the Son?

    Question number 3

Is the Father prejudiced? Is there a particular group of people that he is partial to, such as Jew or Gentile?

To produce an answer to any question, regardless how trivial it may be, the mind must think. The forces of the thought process began to work.

Both good and evil forces are pressing upon the mind.

If God gave his Son to die for the world, then of course, the world will be saved. This is the thrusting thought that entered the mind first. But rational reasoning whispers, why did Jesus say those that the Father giveth to me shall come to me? This conflict has stirred the mind into confusion. Unethical thoughts speak to the mind, saying, Only the ones that the Father picks from the whole world will be saved, therefore the Father is truly showing partiality. Rational reasoning thinks if this is true, then God is not a just god. Rational reasoning stands firmly with the idea that God is not prejudiced but is just and sovereign. The unethical force continued to press with the thought of why did Jesus say that only the ones that the Father gives him will come to him.

Rational reasoning began to search the deep crevices of
