About this ebook

Camri and Tru develop a relationship that blossoms into what they call love. They are happy with the beautiful beginnings but soon find themselves on an overwhelming journey to master what matters most to them. Tru's manipulative and deceitful ways soon catch up with him and sends the lovebirds on the wildest emotional ride ever leaving them both questioning is love really worth it?

Love is patient and kind.

Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude.

It does not demand its own way.

It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.

It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever truth wins out.

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

    Cards for Thee Heart

    GOD, WHY ARE YOU CRYING?

    God, why are you crying?

Because all my children have went astray, and

I’m forced to watch as they rejoice in evil ways

I made them in my image; I was delighted about my creation.

I blessed them from generation to generation, and

protected them from nation to nation.

And when they were disconnected from me and no one would return.

Oh, how I longed to be with them, my heart would yearn.

I sent my only Son to die for them, the only one pleasing in my sight.

He died while yet they were sinners and still many refuse to do right.

They don’t defend my commandments, because their amendments stand for truth.

Yes, my heart breaks because of the things they choose to do.

They won’t turn from their wicked ways,

no matter how I beg, plead, or warn.

They are entertained by their evil deeds,

just like hell they keep on growing.

So you ask, Why do I cry?

My child, wouldn’t you cry too,

if you love someone so much, but they don’t love you.

"Seek the Lord while you can find him

Call on him now while he is near.

Let the wicked change their ways

and banish the very thought of doing wrong."

    (Isaiah 55 6-7).

    CHAPTER 1

Camri Shuntae Morgan, a young caramel-skinned woman with long black hair, light brown eyes, and medium build stepped out onto the balcony of her two-story apartment building just before sunset. She looked around and grew overwhelmed to see so many people out enjoying the warm breeze and the beautiful evening view. She glanced out the corner of her eye and noticed a tall, dark, handsome brother with long dreads and an attractive smile standing on the balcony across from her. Camri was in awe of him as she whispered to herself, he’s fine. She quickly looked the other way when he made eye contact with her, and he admired her beauty from afar. She turned to get another quick look just as he approached her.

What’s up ma? I’ve noticed you watching me, and I thought it would be my pleasure if I introduced myself to the most beautiful woman God could’ve ever created.

    Is that so? Camri smiled.

Yea, what’s your name? The young man asked.

Camri, and what’s yours? she asked seductively.

Trumunn, but my friends and family call me Tru and so can you, he grinned.

Hey, Tru, nice to meet you, Camri smiled, I’ve never seen such a fine brother like yourself around this part of town.

I’m just in the area visiting a few friends. I stay over on the North Side; but from where I’m standing, the view over here is much better, so I’m glad I stopped by. Tru smiled.

So where’s your woman? Camri asked.

I’m looking at her, Tru laughed, Can I have your number, so I can reach you in the late night hours?

Is any time a good time for you? Tru asked after he locked the number in his cell phone.

    Yes, anytime. Camri agreed.

Camri studied Tru’s physique as he walked away. She wanted to feel his muscles that captured the beauty of the white t-shirt he wore. She watched him get into a black Cadillac Escalade as he shouted bye to his friends. He blew the horn before he sped off into the oncoming traffic, and Camri waved goodbye like she’d just won a million dollars. She couldn’t wait to get to her cell phone so that she could tell her best-friend, Shay, about the new guy she’d just met. Camri ran into the house, grabbed her phone and called Shay.

Pick up girl, pick up, Camri screamed excitedly while she paced the floor.

    Hello, a soft voice answered.

Shay, girl, let me tell you what just happened. I just met this fine brother from the North side, and girl he’s riding clean.

Camri, slow down, Shay interrupted, I can barely understand you. My phone keeps breaking up; I’m going to have to call you back when I make it home. Shay hung up.

Camri hung up the phone. She was excited about meeting Tru. She started cleaning her apartment because she couldn’t keep still. She was sweeping the kitchen floor when her cell phone rang. She looked at the screen to see who called before she answered.

Hello, said Camri in a soft tone.

Hi beautiful, The deep voice greeted her drowned out by loud rap music.

Hi. Can you turn that music down, I can barely hear you?

How about I turn it off, because the reason I called was to hear your sweet, sexy voice, Tru turned off the music, I want to hear the sweet seductive voice that go along with the beautiful smile I can’t get out of my head.

Boy, you so crazy. Camri blushed.

Can I spend some time witcha so that we can get to know each other better? Tru asked.

    Yes, of course. Camri agreed.

Is Friday night cool? asked Tru.

    It’s cool.

It’ll be our first night together of many more to come. I’ll call you later when I make it to the house and get comfortable, so don’t go to bed without hearing from me. Tru said.

    I won’t. Camri answered.

Camri hung up the phone and smiled while staring into mid-air. She spent a few quiet moments in total awe with thoughts of no one and nothing, but Tru.

Camri sat on the couch and started watching Martin, her favorite afternoon T.V. sitcom. She laughed so hard at Martin performing as Jerome; she didn’t hear her cell phone ringing in her purse, and a few moments later, her house phone rang.

Hello, Camri answered while her eyes were still glued to the television.

Hey, girl, I’m returning your call from earlier, because I couldn’t hear you on that cheap cell phone; it kept breaking up your every other word, so what were you saying?

Camri’s response was slow. She was too wrapped up into the television.

Shay, I’m going to call you back when Martin goes off. You know this is my show, and I can’t talk right now. I’ll call you back, because I got something to tell you.

What is it? Shay asked excitingly, Now you know my inquiring mind gots to know.

I’m going to call you later. Click. The phone hung up.

    That wanch! Shay screamed.

    ARE YOU READY

Life is changing day by day,

    destruction overshadows defeat.

God’s children are dying rapidly and each day the tragic repeats.

We’re approaching the last hours of our coming days,

If you don’t have a relationship with Christ,

I suggest you go and get saved.

He’s coming for his people and he only chose a few.

Wouldn’t you like of those chosen to be including you?

This is not heaven on earth, surrounding all this sin.

First you work, then you rest, and rewards come at the end.

I suggest to you, and this is coming from a friend.

If you can’t save the world, save yourself.

    Start from within.

    CHAPTER 2

Shay LeAnna Mitchell, a dark-skinned sister with shoulder-length black hair, brown highlights, and dark brown eyes. She was thick in the waist and cute in the face. Shay is a nice young woman but has a low tolerance when it comes to men with cheating and lying ways. Shay is a single mom of a two-year-old boy name, Jermie. She’s a full-time student and works full-time at a clothing store as a sales clerk. Shay is an independent woman. She dreams of being a business owner of a retail store, so she attends Lowell’s Business College working on her bachelor’s degree.

Hello. Jermie, stop playing in that water, and get your behind out of that bathroom before I whip you, Shay hollered as she answered the phone.

What’s up? Girl, I see you exercising your vocal cords again. Camri joked.

Girl, go on and laugh, you’ll see what momma—hood feels like when the right guy comes along and gets you pregnant, then leaves you, Shay frowned.

    Camri burst into laughter.

What’s up C, what do you have to tell me? Shay interrupted.

Girl, I met this fine brother over in my apartments today. Camri smiled. His name is Trumunn, but he’s known around the hood as Tru. The brother is fine. And he’s driving a clean Cadillac Escalade that my sexy tail will be sitting in by his side in a very short time.

Hmm, that brother got some good game, because he got you twisted up in the head already, said Shay.

Whatever Shay, there you go again thinking all men ain’t nothing because you keep looking in the Garden of Evil instead of the Garden of Eden, Camri laughed, "You-

Shay interrupted, yeah, yeah, yeah, go on with your story.

Well, anyway, as I was saying, he wants to take me out Friday, which is only two days away. What do you think I should do?

Go out with him. If he got your head spinning from conversation, you might as well make him spend something.

Camri was about to scold Shay about her smart remark when Shay’s phone beeped.

Hold on Camri, someone’s calling on my other end.

    Hello, Shay answered.

Shay, I thought you were taking Jermie over my ma house when you got off work! the male voice screamed.

I didn’t feel like it. Why your broke butt can’t come pick him up?

Mane, I don’t have a ride right now! Terrance hollered.

You don’t ever have anything when it comes to doing something for your son, but you go and get when you want to.

I didn’t call for all this bullcrap; I just wanted to know why, bye. Terrence screamed.

Bye trick! Shay slammed the phone down on the hook, Lord, he gets on my nerves. I guess Camri hung up. I’ll call her later. Shay mumbled.

Meanwhile, Camri was going through her closet picking out her outfit for school the next day. She attended Moreton Community College four days a week. She dreamed of being a nurse. She worked at St. Peter’s Children’s Clinic in the evening time as a full time receptionist. She made a decent income to support herself. She didn’t have any children, but her interest in materialistic things would probably keep her broke. Camri didn’t have many friends, and Shay was her closest friend. Shay was like the sister Camri always wanted.

Camri turned on the radio and put her favorite Gerald Levert Cd in, Now, this man knows how to treat a real woman, she proclaimed as she twirled her body to the sweet tunes of his harmonic voice. Camri was into the groove of Gerald’s lyrics when she heard a knock at her door. She rushed to the door and looked out of the peephole but couldn’t see anyone. She dashed to a nearby window to get a better view. Camri opened the door with a disgusted look on her face.

What do you want? Camri frowned.

Dang, sis I just came by to see how you doing, the young man grinned.

DeDe, every time you come by here you want something, so what is it this time? Camri asked.

Now that you offered, I do need to borrow ten dollars for some gas.

Boy, your broke butt need a job.

Man, I got a job; I’m just waiting on them to call me.

Waiting on who to call you? Camri asked.

Anybody that’s hiring. De De laughed.

Detron DeAuntre Morgan is Camri’s younger brother, De-De. He’s very comical. He’s always looking for an opportunity to turn any serious conversation into a comedy. He’s a light-skinned, tall, muscular guy with a low haircut. He thinks of himself as a ladies’ man. He’s always talking about all the women that admire him and want to get with him, but he can’t call any of them when he needs something.

Camri, what you got in here to eat, because your brother sho is hungry.

De De, you broke, and you hungry.

C’mon, Camri, why do you treat me like a step child? DeDe asked.

Boy, you wouldn’t be a child of mine with your broke tail.

Can I make me a ham sandwich, DeDe asked while staring into the refrigerator?

Go ahead and clean my kitchen back up, Camri shouted while heading into her bedroom.

De De quickly swallowed down the sandwich and poured himself a tall glass of grape Kool-Aid while Camri was in her bedroom preparing her clothes for school. She heard DeDe’s footsteps coming down the hall towards to her bedroom.

Hey, sis, DeDe hollered as his footsteps drew closer, Where them ten dollars you gone lend a brother?

Here, always begging, Camri screamed as she shoved the money into his hand.

Bye, Camri. I love you, too.

Bye. She replied as she followed her brother to the door.

Camri slammed the door and locked it. She looked out the window and burst into laughter as she watched her brother pull off in his 1979 Buick that had plastic on the passenger side windows because of all the girlfriends he claimed to have kept busting them.

Camri finished ironing her clothes and reading her assignment for school at about 8:00p.m. She wondered why she hadn’t heard from Tru since earlier in the day. She wanted badly to call him, but she didn’t want him to think she was impatient or something far worst, desperate.

Camri took a hot bath. Shortly afterwards, she was ready for bed, but she wasn’t sleepy. She loved writing, and it was something she did mainly at the end of her day. She believed the best way to get rid of unwanted stress was to relax and release it. She kept a pad and pen on the night stand beside her bed; and before going to sleep, she would write about whatever transpired in her life that day.

Camri was putting away her pad and pen when the phone rang.

She picked up her cell phone and looked at the screen. Camri allowed the phone to ring twice. She frantically wanted to answer it on the first ring, but she didn’t want Tru to draw the conclusion that she was sitting by the phone waiting on his call.

Hello, she answered in a drowsy voice.

    May I speak to Camri?

This is she. Camri spoke softly.

Did I wake you? Tru asked.

    Not really. What’s up?

I’m calling to see how the most beautiful woman in the world is getting along without her man.

    "I’m fine,
