About this ebook

In this devotional, Dannette Clark-Clarkson shares her psalms and poetry of her life journey to redemption. The living Word of God brings the poetry to life as you experience the depth, width, and height of God’s unconditional love for you through the blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. The hope is,

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:17–19)

Dannette Clark-Clarkson

Dannette Clark-Clarkson’s poetry is pulled from real-life experiences and reflections of her life journey. Each poem is a peek into the very depths of being a Christian in a world fraught with trials and triumphs. Psalms and poetry to God reach beyond this world to the next as the Holy Spirit’s guidance allows the words to flow through her in an outcry to God. Dannette was diagnosed at an early age with Crohn’s disease, an illness that nearly killed her. But through treatments and surgeries, she became a survivor, and it was a miracle of God’s grace. A broken marriage and divorce took her down a perilous path of running away from God. She found love and hope again as God began to heal her wounds with his unconditional love. The loss of her father and hero made Dannette fall into a deep depression and robbed her of her joy as the sorrow began to pull her back away from God. However, a still small voice began to whisper in her ear, and the writings flowed through her as she opened God’s Word and let him take control of her life once more. Dannette is a licensed insurance and real estate agent in Arkansas. Her loving husband, Brent, always expresses the love of her poetry and feels it is a gift from God. Noel Ashlyn and Haven Amber, her daughters, love to listen to her writings and inspire her with their gifts of love and support. God’s divine intervention has pulled her from a pit of despair and placed her on a rock of redemption. She prays that each reader will find a poem that will relate to what they are feeling and can help heal the heartbroken through God’s words of salvation.

The Rainbow Testimony - Dannette Clark-Clarkson

    Beautifully Broken

    41158.png

    I look in the mirror—

    Only I can see

    The battle scars

    That stare back at me.

    They form a picture

    Reflecting my past—

    The heartaches and triumphs

    In a time, draft.

    How short a lifetime

    Was filling my soul,

    Bringing so many memories

    Of stories untold.

    The love lost and gained

    Fogs up my light,

    Leaving the shadows

    Of brilliant insight.

    The soul who once was

    Stares back at me,

    The soul who is now

    I could not foresee.

    Beautifully broken,

    With life lessons learned,

    Is a new person

    Who has emerged.

    A childlike wonder

    Has started anew.

    Through contemplation

    Began a breakthrough.

    I’m now seeing clearly

    With heart and with mind.

    A person of conquest,

    The mirror does shine.

For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12 ASV)

    The Masquerade

    41158.png

    The one you knew,

    You thought was true,

    Became the Judas

    Who sat with you.

    The cracking face,

    Your mask in place,

    The trickling salt

    That you did taste.

    The joy you felt,

    Your hand was dealt,

    The stench of lies

    That you smelt.

    Such love was fake

    And then heartbreak.

    Oh, save my soul

    For God’s sake.

    Beaten and bruised,

    Feeling so used.

    It was a ruse.

Thoughts in quietness cause such unrest.

A twirling mind in much distress

Because they did not pass the test.

    The masquerade will soon resume

As souls collide within this room

And dance in aftermath of gloom.

    The cage was made

    With all the rage

When you should have turned the page.

    Forgiveness is the only way

To turn what’s dark into the day,

And stop the games that we do play.

    Let us hold faith

    Despite their disgraces,

And take the mask from our faces.

    Then victory we’ll taste.

Lie not one to another; seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds. (Colossians 3:9 KJV)

Forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye. (Colossians 3:13 ASV)

    Goodbye, Old Shell

    41158.png

As I say goodbye to you,

The shell that once was mine,

    I wipe the dew away

    From tears I left behind.

Bittersweet the memories of family affairs,

Floating all about me, catching me unawares.

    Those times are gone

    Through whispering walls,

    And everything looks bare.

    Cobwebs entwined with heartache

    Linger in my mind.

What would I not give if I could bend back time?

There will be no turning back,

    So forward on I’ll march

    Into a brand-new chapter

    That needs a healthy start.

I’ll close the door, though shattered,

    Of pictures from the past

    And make a new beginning

With grace that’s meant to last.

Thy dead shall live; my dead bodies shall arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in the dust; for thy dew is ‘as’ the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast forth the dead. (Isaiah 26:19 ASV)

Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of
