Motivation to Destiny Fulfillment - Eliot Messiah
INTRODUCTION
Everybody on this earth has a destiny to fulfill before the end of his time on earth. The destiny of life can be defined in so many ways, and according to the way each man sees and believes his destiny. Oxford Dictionary defines it to be the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person in the future. According to the Free Dictionary, destiny is a predetermined course of event considered as something beyond human power or control.
Just the way many are motivated in the organizational setting so as to achieve the best or put in the best to the fulfillment of the organizational goals and aims, destiny fulfillment in another hand is motivated by someone or something because of its need to be well fulfilled. Motivation in business setting can be said to be an influence either from internal or external on the employee so as to boost his moral to put in the best of his effort to the achievement of the organization’s aims. The question that could be asked is that if an employee is motivated to putting in his best for the organization, then who motivates or influences the individual in achieving his destiny? Is it by someone outside or within, visible or invisible or by self-motivation? The quest to answer these questions would lead us to some Biblical truth.
Destiny fulfillment could be discussed from the academic point of view as well as religious view point. That notwithstanding, it is important to establish the fact that destiny is beyond human power and control. This therefore means that the discussion of destiny should be spiritually focused than academic knowledge and thinking. Hence, we can say that destiny fulfillment is beyond academic thinking. Let’s now look at it in religious point of view by making reference to the BIBLE since we all can believe that the God of the Bible is the creator of man and hence, the destiny giver.
DESTINY
From the Bible, we could see that God has given destiny to everyone on earth, irrespective of the family one was born into or his/her religious background as well as that of his/her parents. We can identify from the Bible that there are two main categories of destiny that man is subject to fulfill during his earthly period, namely:
■ General destiny which is common to everyone and
■ Specific destiny which is specific to the individual
The destiny of a man is not given by parents or family members, neither is it determined by how rich or poor one’s parents are or the circumstances surrounding one’s birth, either through wanted or unwanted pregnancy, but from the Almighty God
the giver of child and life. From the part of the world where I come from, a child’s destiny can be foretold even when he is in the womb either by "babalawo – worshiper of small gods or
Pastor – worshiper of the Almighty God". It means that the star of a child’s destiny is released long before birth.
GENERAL DESTINY
This type of destiny is common to everyone on earth and it can be found in Genesis 1: 26-28. From the scripture, it was clear that after the creation of the universe, the following destinies were given to everyone on earth:
Genesis 1: 26-28
……… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.
NIV
I. To be in the image of God on earth no matter your religion
II. To have life
III. To have authority over the earth and rule over everything in it
IV. To be fruitful and increase in all aspect of life. This is the reason for reproduction, growth and increase in business
V. The fifth destiny of everyone is to work on the ground so as to earn a living as seen in Genesis 2:4-7
SPECIAL DESTINY
Everyone on earth, on individual basis has his/her personal destiny to fulfill, and this destiny is specific and unique to him/her alone. For example, a family could be
