Author

Rufus Lee Brown

My name is Rufus Lee Brown and I became an author in 2015. I began my writings as early as my high school years by entering poetry contests held by my high school. For me, literary writing was fun, enjoyable and challenging. I was raised by my mother, Mrs. Queenie Mae Brooks-Brown-Monroe-Myers, which now resides in Valdosta Georgia. Currently, I reside in Orlando, Florida. I am a Floridian, having lived in Florida my entire life. Creative writing is inspiring, moving and inspirational. My inspiration for writing books of poetry and other genres of literature has been in my lifes blood since those high school days, and the first poem I wrote. Since then, I have continued to move forward, writing Books of Poetry and Novels, also. Though, my interest has always been to write children books, my mother implored me to write her true-life story.

    My Biography

    This Book of Poetry, I

dedicate once again to my baby brother,

Mr. Bobby Monroe, who passed away in October of 2014,

whom I loved so very much. I Miss You Bro…

    Foreword

Poetry is written in many styles, forms and many ways. Some people write poetry with someone special in mind or something special in mind. Everyone and everybody have their own creative style of writing poetry. Many of the most famous writers of poetry had a very unique and captivating manner or passion which has allowed their works to endure over the ages. Most poets write about love, hate or peace. While others write about feelings, hope, despair and encouragement. Still others just write when they are inspired.

My poetic style of writing may be a little different than most other writers of Poetry. My purpose is writing Poems Designed with Music in Mind. My lyrics are written to attract music artist and musicians of all kinds. My poems have a distinguished hook and have a center or body that tells about or relates to the hook. Then, I have included chorus lines that defines and add meaning to the hook of the poems enhancing its overall concept. Basically, every poem I have listed is a song without music accompanied. A musician can build his/her music using my poetry as its ‘Main Course. I have compiled a large quantity of poetry over the past thirty years, the content of this book contains 257 poems. I have now decided to share my poetry with the World. I have compiled so many different topics and a variety of subject matter. Once a musician read my lyrics, they can or will be inspired toward creative abilities to create tunes or melodies, musically. It is the reader’s choice if the reader just wants to read poetry or act upon the subject matter read. (Contains Mature Language and Materials / Parental Guidance is Advised)

(I dedicate these Writing of Poetry to my Beloved Younger Brother)

Mr. Bobby Monroe, Whom I Love So Very Much.

    Born: June 2, 1959 – Died: October 11, 2014

So What! It Ain’t Nothing but a Thing

    Free basing, women chasing

What will you think of next?

    Girl hopping, non-stopping

Your mind is always on sex.

    Constant drinking, never thinking

Before your mouth open to speak.

    Dope smoking and free stroking

    Is all that you seek.

Keeping a high and trying to be sly

    Thinking that you are cool.

That may be true but the joke is on you,

    Making you the fool.

On heels, you swirl while chasing the girls

You say that you are debonair.

Pushing on the side, that fact you don’t hide

Because you say, you do not care.

    (Chorus lines:

So What! It Ain’t Nothing but a Thing

We are all puppets on a string.

It is the Spirit of the World

And I am not to blame.

Calling yourself a lover like none other

    Than Casanova himself.

When the girls come around, you get down

    Until there’s no ladies left.

You don’t work because you’re no jerk

Working to you is a sin.

Just look at me, I’m dress to the Tee"

You tell everyone you are a ten.

Just like Dolemite, just like Wonder Mike

    Your mouth gives you away.

Just like Richard Pryor who was tested by fire

    So will come your day.

    (Chorus lines:

So What! It Ain’t Nothing but a Thing

We are all puppets on a string.

It is the Spirit of this World

And I am not to blame.

    Give Yourself to Me

Girl, you put me in the mood

I want you in the nude,

You have only yourself to blame.

    Seeing your legs on Monday

    And your breasts on Thursday

    I haven’t been the same.

In my dreams, I am drifting

In my bed, I am shifting

While seeing your eyes through mine.

    It is obvious to see

You have gotten control of me

I think of you all the time.

    (Chorus line:

Give Yourself to Me, Girl Give Yourself to Me.

    Thinking about the past

And how long we made it last

It was good all the time.

I’m finding out more and more

I need you like never before

You make my whole life shine.

    That same good feeling

    That is so revealing

Every time that you gave in.

    It is a natural fact

I don’t know how to act

Lady, our love is a ten.

    (Chorus line:

Give Yourself to Me, Girl Give Yourself to Me.

It is what you do to me

And how our love is so complete

Honey, our love is truly refined.

    You got my respect

Come, let me nibble on your neck

I just enjoy making you mine.

    (Chorus line:

Give Yourself to Me, Girl Give Yourself to Me.

    Comfort Is What I Bring

If your man does not do you right

Go out and stay all night,

Come home when the sun rise

    Talking silly; Surprise! Surprise!

Laughing and grinning in your face

Expecting to receive your warm embrace,

All the while he is breaking your heart

Ruining your life and tearing it apart.

    (Chorus lines:

    Comfort Is What I Bring

Girl, I am here to do my thing.

    I will do you right

When your man does you wrong.

    I will be your strength

    I will make you strong.

    You will be treated good

And I will treat you nice.

    I will fill your world

    With both sugar and spice.

    (Chorus lines:

    Comfort Is What I Bring

Girl, I am here to do my thing.

I am not there just for fun

I bring comfort just like the sun.

I am not Jody, who just hit and run

I will be there to get the job done.

Girl, I am here to take up the slack

That at home you so often lack.

    (Chorus lines:

    Comfort Is What I Bring

Girl, I am here to do my thing.

    Sly

From a country hick to a city slick

From picking fruit to making loot.

From shy to sly, you now rest your hope

In pimping women and pushing dope.

Women are always on your mind

Four or five women at a time.

When you party, you do it with style

Your Name is ‘Sly’ and you’re versatile.

You call yourself a ‘Natural Man’

Because on your own two feet you stand.

You pimp your whores and ring their bell

You earn big bucks from the dope you sell.

Never giving in to others whim

You pride yourself, just Look at Him!

Your Name is ‘Sly, a name you’re proud of

Because in all your dealings, there is no love.

    (Chorus lines:

You’re a Sly Guy and Sly is Your Name

You’re a Sly Guy and Sly shows no shame.

Your pockets fat; they’re fill with green

So much money; few have ever seen.

The kind of money that flows from you

Which you love to brag and brag you do.

Selfish yet stylish, wearing the finest clothes

Many envy you, while others chose,

To imitate you, they’re living a lie

They admire you, Your Name is ‘Sly.’

The ladies love you whether it is true or false

The money you spend; you spare no cost.

    Fancy clothes and fancy cars

Your demeanor is like movie stars.

Your pinky rings the cost of a home

Your gold chain, a condo one can own.

You’re living the life others only dream of

Because in all of your dealings, there is no love.

    (Chorus lines:

You’re a Sly Guy and Sly is Your Name

You’re a Sly Guy and Sly shows no shame.

Your pockets fat; they’re fill with green

So much money; few has ever seen.

Around the neighborhood your name is discuss

Some praise you while others fuss.

You are please of the life-style you’re living

    Always taking yet seldom giving.

But you’re fine with that and that’s a fact

Because day by day, your dollars’ stack.

Against you, politicians can’t hold its own

When next to you even the best be gone.

You put into office those refusing to give

In your insane world, the world you live.

Nothing comes cheap, yet you don’t mind

Because the more you reap the more you shine.

Careful Sly, that you don’t cry

Careful Sly because time do fly.

Be very careful Sly, your day will come

With no love to show, his Will be done.

    (Chorus lines:

You’re a Sly Guy and Sly is Your Name

You’re a Sly Guy and Sly shows no shame.

Your pockets fat; they’re fill with green

So much money; few has ever seen.

    Make Yourself Available

I know you have things to do

    That keeps you occupied.

I know you like to hang out

And rap with all the guys.

But I really miss you, honey

    When you are away.

    I really miss you, baby

    Day after day.

    (Chorus lines:

    So why don’t you;

    Make Yourself Available

That is all I ask of you.

    Make Yourself Available

That is all you have to do.

I need you home with me

    Baby to hold me tight.

    To make me feel alright.

So can’t you arrange it, hon?

To give me some of your time.

Honey, tell me that you can

And get me out of this bind.

    (Chorus lines:

    Make Yourself Available

That is all I ask of you.

    Make Yourself Available

that is all you have you do.

    When my love come down

And baby, you are not here,

    My blood pressure runs high

    And my body temperature flare.

I need you home with me

    Baby, I need you now.

I need you home with me

    Baby, don’t let me down.

    You Reap What You Sow

You can’t do this to me

    Treating love like a game.

I am not out to play

I wish you felt the same.

But you do not, it is so plain to see

That is why you did me wrong.

    Girl, you broke my heart

    Just by leading me on.

    (Chorus lines:

So, You Reap What You Sow

    Or didn’t you know?

    Every time, yes every time.

    So, I’m letting you go

    Girl just to show

That you are no longer mine.

Finding out about you came as a surprise

Yes, it came as a shock to me.

Now I am beginning to realize

How much you want to be free.

    This is a terrible situation

And I’m closing the curtains on this act.

It could never be a happy relationship

If I decide to take you back.

    (Chorus lines:

    You Reap What You Sow

    Or didn’t you know?

    Every time, yes every time.

So, I am letting you go

    Girl just to show

That you are no longer mine.
