For the Perfecting of the Saints: The Five Biblical Ministry Gifts and What They Mean to You
()
About this ebook
Many churches lack a structured Christian Education program outside of the regular Sunday school and midweek Bible Study, which leaves a large void in the lives of believers and forces them to adopt erroneous views and visions for the personal ministries and gifts. For the Perfecting of the Saints seeks to fill that void and empower individual Biblical-based education, including revelatory information (revelation) to make their lives more relevant (application). This practical guide assists in addressing the ministry gift and the impact that it has on ones personal, professional, and ministerial life.
Author Jennifer Gilbert explains the five ministry gifts in great depth and detail, Pastor, teacher, evangelist, and Apostle. She examines them from the Biblical standpoint in addition to applying her thirty years of experience in the ministry and her fifteen years in educationspiritually and professionally combined. She considers the characteristics, both personally and spiritually, that are attributes of each gift. Further, she explains many of the ways that one can develop their God-given gift and calling, the danger of detouring from their calling, and most importantly, the manners by which each one operates.
With the publication of For the Perfecting of the Saints, there is no longer an excuse for a lack of knowledge because there are in-depth explanations and examinations of Biblical examples that will enable anyone to use their God-given gifts effectively.

To my almighty God for your gifting me in the many areas that he has endowed me. Thank you God for loving me in spite of me. To my children Damaria and J’Donte’ Henderson for their undying love and support in my every effort, I could not do it without you. To Ms. Cacean Ballou, thanks for your support as I multi-tasked with our musical project, this book and the million and one other things that I do that involves you and our professional endeavors together. To Prophetess Claudette Gaither for her help and elaboration with this project. I must say that I cannot do my many endeavors alone, in my life it really takes teamwork to make the dream work and my team is my family, my staff and the kingdom laborers that keep me lifted in prayer at all times. Thank you all so much!

1 Corinthians 12:1
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
FOREWORD
I have watched as God began to lay the foundation of order for this end time revival that I believe we are about to see. It is going to be an explosive growth of evangelism this country has not seen before. I believe we are in the beginning stages of the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The body of Christ has shifted and become, in my observation, very Hollywood in its presentation of the gospel putting on more of a production, but lacking the power to carry out God’s will and the result of that has become an inner society of what is the latest trend rather than being trendsetters. God began to reveal to me his move to strategically bring things back into perspective and help move ourselves away from a church society of entitlement to the Kingdom of God and his righteousness. The Lord said in II Chronicles 7:14, If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I have observed, during this transition into a new year, a shift to a heightened consciousness of believers feeling the frustration of living below their means. It is not by coincidence, if you have purchased this book God has a designed a specific purpose in your life. Ephesians 4:1 declares, I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love, you were chosen and created for purpose, but may have not understood your gift, nor your call, but this book will bring you into an awareness of yourself and help you to understand the clarion call of Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealed his secret unto his servants the prophets.
Dr. Jennifer Gilbert’s work shines a light of the order of God being restored to its original design and not for individuals to gain popularity, but for the church to walk in power. As Ephesians chapter 4 verse 11-12 declares, And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.
This book will begin to line you up with the purpose God has for your life. I have seen and heard many writers who try to joggle unsuccessfully the balance of spiritual revelation and life application, but Dr. Jennifer Gilbert hits a home run with this book. I find it rewarding when one dares to stand boldly and declare God’s word in this hour. Dr. Gilbert is going to challenge you in your walk, and have you to understand the attributes to one’s office and associate it with the gifts and help you activate them that you may began to develop and to serve your purpose with vitality. I believe the Lord has sanctioned Dr. Jennifer Gilbert to carry the mantle to bring the body of Christ into the unlocking of the impossible and to empower the church for the 21st century and beyond.

PREFACE
This work is another favorite of mine. My first book, Churchin’ Ain’t Easy was one for the new converts or maybe even old ones who needed to be realigned with the will of God. My second book, And Deliver Us From People, was a crossover book that everyone could use in their homes, workplaces, churches and anywhere else that they encounter people. This book speaks to my kind, the ones who are saved and seeking for a deeper meaning to life and a greater understanding of their calling. I have heard many people speak of the five-fold ministry and there are many people out there that don’t even know what it is, let alone those out there who refute it even though it is a biblical concept.
Ephesians 4:11-16
11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:
14That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
This book will explain personal, spiritual and even some professional characteristics of individuals who possess these gifts and/or callings and the ways in which they operate. I was so honored that God chose to use me for this work, something that has not been done before but also something that is vitally needed in the body of Christ. The bible states;
Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
With this book, I pray that you will gain knowledge of the material, wisdom for the application and understanding of yourself. Perhaps you have always done a thing and didn’t know why, this book may help you to understand that indeed you were called from your mother’s womb which means that you may have exhibited some of these behaviors, even as a child.
Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
INTRODUCTION
What makes this book necessary is the lack of instruction in reference to this subject manner. Few people really talk about the five-fold ministry, let alone teach about it. This book seeks to educate all members of the body, even leadership on the matters of the ministry gifts and the vital role that they play in the success of the church.
I have worked in the gifting as well as the callings of the five-fold ministry gifts for over 30 years and it has been a challenge because it is a truth that many don’t teach on so therefore, many don’t understand it. The five-fold ministry gifts are those of the;
