About this ebook
I started writing poetry in 2008. It began as an accident one day while sitting down just doodling with a pencil. Verses started coming together one after another and I have been doing it ever since. I am 63 and this is my first book. I hope it puts a smile on peoples faces. All my poems deal with love, happiness, giving kindness to one another, and sharing time with people you love and care of. In one form or another each one represents the goodness in this world from the heart. There is so much hurt, pain and hate, destruction in this world today. From wars in far off lands to our own backyards, when the towers fell. Someday this must all stop. If my poems can bring a little sunshine into the heart my writings have not been done in vain. My wish would be to take all weapons of war and turn them into farming tools. This world would be a lot better off. In closing I would like to repeat what Roy and Dale say at the end of their show: Happy trails to you until we meet again.
May God Bless,
Rick Widener

A Fond Memory
As time passes it makes no difference
you’ll always be dear to me,
Fond memories of you will dwell within
giving my spirit tranquility.
There’s been many who crossed my path
but no one can compare,
To the glow that God gave you
coming from your auburn hair.
Like an angel from above
let only happiness fall your way,
May the sun give its warmth
perhaps again we’ll meet someday.
Until that time comes about
all I can do is wish you well,
And say a prayer for all the kindness
a heart of gold where love dwells.
Life is full of twists and turns
some things were meant to change,
As long as we open our hearts
God’s love will remain.
What Is Love
As the water passes under the bridge
many seasons have come and gone,
Looking back to that day
it was by the brook we formed a bond.
Ever since then two hearts have endured
the bad and the good,
Through thick and thin to the end
both of us understood.
This is what love is all about
a life of give and take,
Sharing together the ups and downs
being side by side through our mistakes.
It doesn’t matter if your rich or poor
living in a castle or a shack,
All the gold can never buy
the love for each that’s given back.
When it comes time to depart
and, go beyond Heaven’s blue,
It’s what was given from the heart
on that day when we said I do.
Joined As One
As each day passes by
these feelings for you grows within,
Your a gift from Heaven’s blue
remembering that moment by the glen.
All the flowers that ever bloomed
not one can compare,
To the glow that radiates
from your satin hair.
Only God can remove our love
burning continuous like a candle flame,
May two hearts join as one
even beyond the golden plain.
On that day when we said yes
the angels blew their horns,
Heavens clouds opened up
our spirits became reborn.
As we go through life side by side
may God shed His holy light,
Our spirits will dwell beyond the Garden gate
being together where our spirits reunite.
What Is A Rose
When the sun crests in the east
spring flowers begin to bloom,
Nothings so beautiful as a rose
a fragrance filling every room.
Their colors range from yellow to white
some are red others blue,
Every morning they brighten the sky
giving serenity for me
