    Chapter 1

    Dear God:

Thank you, God. Thank you, Jesus, for letting my family and me wake up to see another day. Lord, please bless my family, friends, me and everyone else around me.

Thank you for everything you have done for me and everything you’re going to do for me. Thank you very much, Amen.

I’m starting my morning off by waking up and wiping the cold out of my eyes, stretching my arms to release the tiredness out of my body, and sitting up thinking to myself ‘What’s going to happen today? What kind of day will it be?

Those are questions I will have the answers to within the next forty-five minutes, when I walk through the doors of Memorial High school.

Lord, you know the things that are going on in my life right now and I just ask that you continue to help me through my trials and tribulations.

Marie and I are going through a lot of drama right now, but I’m trying to hang on; sometimes I feel as though she doesn’t care if I stay or leave.

Maybe it’s because she sees things different than I do, or maybe she doesn’t take the things I say to her to heart, or maybe she still wants to run around like a chicken with her head cut off.

I’m sick and tired of people coming at me with rumors about her. Like the rumor I heard a few months back when someone said she was having sex with this guy named Jessie in the back of his car at Hawthorne Park.

I don’t know if it’s true or not, but what I do know is I’m getting tired of people trying to break us up.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the rumors I hear are true, but I also look at it this way: Some people can say lies that sound so real and that’s what confuses me. I don’t know if what I’m hearing is true or not.

I don’t know what to do, but Lord, just please help our relationship because I really want to be with her.

Lord, another thing that really messes with me is that people forget the meaning of family these days. People in my family don’t know what family means. Families aren’t how they used to be or how they should be. Families are supposed to stick together and be there for each other no matter what, regardless of the situation.

My cousin and I got into a small argument about how her boyfriend was cheating on her. I know she loves him and all, but I couldn’t take how he treated her and the way he talked to her.

I was taking up for her, but she wanted to take up for him. Every since we got into that argument, we haven’t talked. I’m not about to kiss her ass and I don’t expect for her to kiss mine either.
