Iris Mack

Ms. Mack has been writing since the 2nd grade when her first piece was published in a school newsletter in her Bronx, elementary school. She has completed a children's book, 4 novels, and a film she would like to see on the big screen. Also to her credit The Donors Guide and a book of Poems that she has written that reflects her life experiences. She says "Living in New York for 35 years has educated me more than if I had traveled the globe for the same amount of time. I thank God and the NYC public school system for giving me the thirst and the love for the written word. There are stories of survival and heart, associated with people of strength and substance and I am dying to tell them." "We know that this life is only a training session for heaven and relationships are the only thing that remains here long after we are gone. The poems and stories I weave are heartfelt and personal. I want my readers to recall a time when they felt the same way I do, through this common ground we are family."

A Donors Guide to Spiritual Giving

(Note: I am using the small letter I because it is not me who this ordeal is representing—I wanted to yield to the power that was responsible for getting me through. The Word tells us that as we decrease our position of control God is able to increase his authority in our lives. This proves the vessel is only as good as the potter who made it.)

    Dedications

I want to start by giving all the praise, honor and glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, because I would have NO life without his love, guidance, and forgiveness—I want to thank my family, my mom Patricia Payne who told me to stop practicing her handwriting and to develop my own for future check writing purposes, she has definitely been my rock in all my endevours. My 2 brothers Gerard and Timothy Payne for being true brick walls.—They have showed me that real men do have big hearts—I want to thank my kids Marques, Neekol and Zinah—what mommy says… mommy does. I love you all—Thank you to my Grandmother, Wilma Stanley for being the Matriarch of the Dewitt/Chestnut Clan—your prayers for me were well worth the effort. To my girls—you know who you are. (1) down and several to go—To all the people who have read my poems at work and said they were good—Thanks your encouragement made all the difference in keeping me focused. To all the leaves that have fallen throughout the years from the Dewitt/Chestnut tree of life—I miss you all and a piece of you are always with me forever—Thank you H.P.—My nieces Shantell, Monee, Jasmine and Tia and my Nephew T.J.—and my great niece Josyln. Hard work does pay off

    Introduction

This book is written to start a communication between people of all ages to consider doing something outside of them selves. It is just one of the many experiences that you can have when you avail yourself to be used by God. To this day the only thing I can say that encouraged me to this point is my Faith in HIM. I want the readers of this book to see HIM in the way I was able to and think of others as we think of ourselves. If there is someone you know who is in need of this organ, consider their plight and at least get tested before you rule out the possibility of helping. This is what I expected to do and to my surprise God wanted more than that from me.

He may want more from you to but there is no way to tell until you do the natural thing which is your reasonable service and if all things being equal are true, you have just as much a chance as anyone to be used in this way. We are dying at alarming rates around the world, the African American community especially and the human race specifically due to a lack of credible and healthy extra organs. I say extra because we CAN survive and be well again with only one of these same organs. I want this book to empower those of you who are on the wall about this whole issue of transplantation—I want you to be comfortable with the options and the pathway to life everlasting.

If there is anyone who reads this book and is interested in knowing the Lord as your saving grace, please ask him to come into your heart today and save your soul. If you need any assistance in that area, do not be afraid to contact me at my Church and I will be honored to put you in touch with someone that can assist you in that area.

I wanted to complete this book for the hundreds of family and friends that I have spoken to and have encouraged me to tell a story, provide a detailed profile, and relay my commune with God through this ordeal. I want to thank my children, Marques, Neekol and Zinah. They have been there for me to talk with and to cry with, and they have provided me with hugs and kisses when I needed them most. I am convinced that Love is truly the best medicine available to mankind. I could not imagine living without it. I want to use this book as a huge thank you card for all the well wishes, prayers, phone calls and tokens of affection, I have received before, during and after this procedure. My mom has been a tremendous anchor for me and I am making certain she knows this everyday. Her attitude of positivism and faith has inspired me to do things correct (the first time) and she has instilled in me an honest respect for myself and others. My two brothers—Gerard and Timothy were essential in tying up the loose ends—They have always been my constant source of strength and encouragement—I love the three of them dearly

My Grandmother has showed me that prayer is invaluable and closer than a friend when it comes to healing. I have watched examples of her aches and pains and it immediately became apparent to me that if this 84 year old woman can endure and not complain then surely I could also. For that example I am grateful.

My co workers at Circuit City who took up a monetary collection for me, even though it was against company policy—I
