    The Birth. 

    The excitement of having a boy was almost too much to bear. Our little girl was two and she brought such great joy to our lives. Now we were going to experience the best of both worlds.

    My pregnancy was great. No morning sickness and the only complaints I had was that I felt extremely tired plus I gained a hefty 55 lbs.

    He arrived on January 24th, 2002. My due date was 3 weeks away but my water broke in the middle of the night as I was taking my daughter to the potty. I felt a sharp pain and then a big relaxation of my stomach. I went to the bathroom and noticed slow drainage. I knew right away because my water had broke with my first child too. My first pregnancy ended in an emergency c-section because I would not dilate. I had already made plans for this one to be c-section as well. We made all necessary calls and headed for the hospital.

    It was freezing outside and I kept thinking about how I hated to take a newborn out in the cold weather. We got to the hospital in the early morning and was told that my doctor wouldn’t be in till after noon. We got comfortable and I started eating ice chips for breakfast. I had no pain and no dilation which was again exactly what happened with my first experience of labor.

    The doctor showed up early about 10:00am and we all got suited up for surgery. I was given a spinal for numbness and I knew right away something was
