Sniffer dog

Gazing at a tiny Collie Greyhound cross online, I melted. I’d always been a sucker for a puppy!

She’d been born on a local farm, only the website explained that she wasn’t feeding, and her mum wasn’t interested, so she needed a new home.

It broke my heart.

‘We need to look after her,’ I told my husband Simon, then 48, showing him the picture of the small black and white dog.

We already had 2-year-old Cockapoo, Alli, but we had enough space.

And my daughter, Jessica, then 13, and son, Konnor, 10, were big animal lovers too.
