INTRODUCTION
My husband and I have been living a low-carb lifestyle since 2002. Chris lost 55 pounds and I lost 40 pounds. It took us awhile to figure out that you don’t need all the complicated specialty
products to live this real life plan. It’s a simple lifestyle filled with the food you find mostly in the outer isles of your local supermarket. We are very busy as are most people so I wanted to create recipes that are fast, simple and comforting for our lifestyle. I love to cook so it made it very easy for me to re-create low-carb yummy dishes. I hope that they will help you live a Real
lifestyle. The best thing about this book…they are all real recipes that anyone would eat. Simple and normal and no clichés.

appetizer.jpgANTIPASTO SALAD
Yield: 14-16 servings
Ingredients:
1 32 ounce jar pepperoncini’s, drained
2 cups halved fresh mushrooms
2 cups halved cherry tomatoes
½ pound provolone cheese, cubed
1 6 ounce can ripe pitted olives, drained
1 3 ½ ounce package sliced pepperoni
1 8 ounce bottle Italian vinaigrette dressing
Lettuce leaves
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheese, olives and pepperoni. Pour vinaigrette over mixture, toss to coat. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight. Arrange on a lettuce-lined platter. Serve with toothpicks.
BEEFY PINWHEELS
Yield: 6-8 servings
Ingredients:
¾ cup vegetable oil
2/3 cup water
¼ cup soy sauce
1 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
4 drops hot pepper sauce
1 beef flank steak (2-2 ½ pounds), trimmed
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the oil, water, soy sauce, lemon pepper, Worcestershire sauce and pepper sauce, set aside. Cover steak with plastic wrap. Flatten to ½ inch thickness. Remove plastic. Diagonally cut into ½ inch strips add to marinade. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Drain and discard marinade. Divide meat strips into eight portions. Roll strips into pinwheels, using larger strips around edges. Secure with a skewer. Grill over medium/hot heat for 5-6 minutes on each side or until beef reaches desired doneness.
CANDIED PECANS
Ingredients:
1 pound fresh unsalted pecan halves
½ cup butter, melted
