About this ebook

This work is intentionally brief, as the author does not believe in wasting right from the beginning. It might be deemed controversial as it builds towards a climax which pits one religion against another. However, it is a must read for anyone interested in faith or mental health.

God does indeed have a unique and twisted sense of humor.

I don’t know if if it was my OCD or the devil, or a combination of the two. However, it was tearing my parents and my life to shreds. I didn’t want to leave the house because what if I used a payphone with a credit card and was billed hundreds of thousands of dollars. Growing up wealthy, I always slightly measured a man by his bank account. If I ran up huge bills, the telephone companies would take away the money I had, my parents’ dollars, and possibly our house.

Steve, you don’t have a credit card, my dad said to me reassuringly.

I once did, maybe I still do.

You don’t. Do you see a credit card anywhere?

No, but maybe I’ll steal yours in the night and use it to make calls outside.

I won’t let you, my poor aging father said.

I can call from home and ring up charges.

We have a block on the 900 numbers.

It might go through anyway. We are all going to lose our money, I screamed.

    Steve, calm down.

Don’t ever tell a person to calm down.

My dad who was sitting in his chair, got up, and walked towards me. For the first time in a decade he put his arms around me and hugged me tightly.

I’m trying the best I can.

I went to sleep that night at 10p.m. and awoke about 4 hours later. I started yelling for my parents who were sleeping in their bedroom. Something in my head told
