About this ebook

I am a child of God, who has been on a journey of a tremendous amount of pain, spiritual attacks, abuse, homelessness, poverty, oppression, torment (hunted and trailed), molestation, loneliness, depression, slavery, and sickness/disease, which has also caused me to go through a series of being misled, misused, and misunderstood! On this mission, I came to realize what it means to be a servant of God, a lamb before shearers!I've experienced an unorthodox structure of "Obedience is better than sacrifice!" and what it really means to walk in forgiveness.I have endured and survived the good, the bad, the ugly, and the evil one! My cries were hidden, and my voice was not heard or spoken; only the tears of my heart were answered!Through Jesus's love for me, I discovered that he is a waymaker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness that protects, heals, delivers, and sets free. Our journey is not measured by how many times we are broken or torn, but it's the name in which we call upon to mend! Through his stripes, I am healed! See, I am more than a Conqueror!Thank you, Father, for saving my soul! Thank you, Father, for making me whole! He has concealed me for his purpose and plan for such a time as this--to teach, to impart, and to seize suffering in silence!

    About the Author

    The Birth Experience

It all began when my mother, who was fresh out of high school, decided that she wanted to experience what the world had to offer. So she moved to Mobile, Alabama, to stay with relatives. There she was later introduced to my dad, who was older (seven years to be exact!) and had been on his own since the tender age of twelve. He was a hardworking, established, and more mature young man, who even had his own apartment. They dated, and of course, one thing led to another, and I was conceived! They were both afraid, with little to no options! It was the early 1960s, and birth contraceptives weren't really made available at that time, and to partake in an abortion would have ended in the death of the mother and child. And then there was my grandfather, who, if my mother had told him she was pregnant and not married, he would have birth-controlled all of us!

I just want to give you a glance of who my grandfather really was. He was a very stern, hardworking, loving man—that meant business! He not only established the reputation of taking care of his family but he was also known as the pillar of his community. My grandparents planned to build a family-based business. They were self-made millionaires, they grew, bred, and produced just about everything they consumed, and they did not turn down anyone willing to work; if you put your hand to the plow, you were guaranteed your share of the harvest. My grandfather was very protective over his children.

I remember one story in particular, that my family shared, about a man coming to my grandparents home, inquiring about their children becoming maids and slaves. My grandfather stood strong and told him No! It must have been pretty intense, because none of his children ever worked anywhere outside of their estate. In short, my grandfather didn't play! Off that note, my parents were very overwhelmed with fear to the point of desperation! They were so afraid that they got information on consulting a witch doctor to try to terminate the pregnancy, but of course, that failed. So they ended up doing the one thing neither of them wanted to do, and that was to get married! This concept seemed like an easy solution to the problem, but we must not forget the seed of evil that was planted. I don't know how much knowledge you may have on witchcraft, but whenever it's performed, it usually does what it is set out to do! But God, who has the power to do all things withheld the works of the enemy! He had a purpose for my life! When the enemy says no! God will say yes! He has the final say!

My mother seemed to have had a few struggles with giving birth to me, I was eight pounds (everybody thought I was three months old) and born with my eyes wide open, meaning I acknowledged, discerned, and remembered everything my eyes have seen from day one! I even remember the ride home from the hospital. My mother was holding me, and someone peeked in the car window and said, Oh, she is a big girl!

My greatest remembrance was my very first meeting with my great grandmother. She held me in her arms and tried to rock me to sleep, but when she found out that I didn't close those big brown eyes, she walked me to the window (I remember that she walked with a limp), said a prayer over me, and lifted me up toward heaven! My great grandmother was called to glory days after our meeting.

And this is where my journey of the chosen one begins.

God Sent Angels Watching Over Me!

My parents were really big on spending quality time with each other. They would take my baby brother (Leonard Jr.—may he rest in peace) and I to visit my big auntie's house for the weekend. I couldn't have been more than ten months old at that time. My aunt had gotten preoccupied with tasks around the house, so she let my cousin hold me. My cousin held me for a while and, later, took me to the bathroom, took off all my clothes (except my diaper), and ran the tub full of hot, hot water (just to give you a visual—the hot water, back in the day, was known to give second- and third-degree burns and hot enough to peel your skin off). She put me on the floor, turned my face sideways, shoved me under the tub (the tub was on legs), and ran out and locked the door behind her. All I felt was the heat from the tub. I wasn't able to move. I couldn't even scream because of the position of my neck! I felt an angelic presence slide me from under the tub, opened the door, and I crawled out without a burn or a scratch!

As time went on, I began my life experiences, and as with every individual, we all have that first love that hurts us to the core! I was dating one of my classmates. He was smart, funny, witty, loving, and caring. We talked for hours on the phone every day! I grew quite fond of him and his mother.

Then it was time for him to go off to college. We agreed that we would continue to keep in touch with each other, but when he got there, he made one call and that was to let me know he had made it! I kept calling, leaving message after message with his roommate—no response. The only comfort I would get was from calling and
