About this ebook

A Mother's Heart

A Mother's Heart will allow you to take a ride with the mountain valley experience between a mother and daughter and granddaughter and how we stood the test of time, proving what it says in Galatians 6:9, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season, we shall reap if we faint not."

The image of heartbreak and describing the devastating emotional pain of a broken relationship transcends culture and is expressed in the same way in almost every language. You will experience the true meaning of the strength of a mother: the one who is

M--more than

O--the overcomer

T--she is trustworthy

H--she is a healer

E--she endures all things

R--she walks in righteousness

H--she is always helpful

E--she is effective

A--she is available

R--she is resilient

T--she is trainable and thankful in all things

You will see even though we can't see everything happening right now, it's the consistency of mama's prayer: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me" (Psalm 23:4).

This book is dedicated to my one and only daughter, Sashoi Carena Thousand, born August 9, 1979, until her passing on December 12, 2020. This book could not be completed without you. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I thank God for the time He loaned you to me; there was never a time that you have made my heart grieve. I would never trade you for anything in this world, and there's so much that I would give just to have you here, but God saw what was best for you. I thank the Lord the day He chose me to be your mom, and I would never have it any other way. Thank you for leaving my beautiful granddaughter behind, which will never take your place, but it's such a great pleasure that God has entrusted her to me. Rest on my love until that day we meet again in heaven.

To my mother, Rubylin Bogle, who is my best friend and also inspired me from my childhood on how to pray. Mom, thanks for being the greatest mom a daughter could ever ask for. You stood the test of time that I don't think I would be able to do. You inspired this writing, and I will be forever grateful for all you have done.

To my best friend Latonya Watson Woodruff, you are the perfect example of what they say, A friend sticks closer than a brother or sister. How can I say thanks for all that you've done? Words cannot express how you stand by me during my worst of times, and if I had ten thousand tongues, it would not be enough to say thank you, and I love you, Tonya, forever.

To Brionne Mike, who sang at the funeral, love you, boo.

To my pastor Martha Newman, thank you for being that rock, and thank you for being there even during the time of your own grief; you visited my daughter week in and week out, reading scriptures, praying with her, and playing the word in her ears. Thank you for all your support. I can never repay all that you did. To Missionary Patricia Newman, Elder Irick and other Irick, Sister Juanita Whilcombe, and all the Covenant Builder church family, I love you all.

To my sister Paulette Tinson, thank you for your many phone calls and for taking the time to talk with my daughter during her time in the hospital. You will never know how much that meant to her, knowing that you were right beside her. Thank you, sis.

Thank you, Anetress Burrough Robinson, who stood the ultimate test of time, being at my daughter's bedside until the very last breath and then cleaning her up by doing her postmortem; that is something I can never repay. Thank you, Miss Anetress; you are a God-sent and will be a friend forever.

To my sister-in-law, Jennifer Tinson, thank you for the time and for the nights you slept at my home just to make sure that I was okay.

Thank you to my niece Paula for your great support and to my nephew Keron. Thanks to my brother Otis and his wife, Marcia, for all your love and support. You did not miss a beat. Thanks to Apostle Erlene Brinson, my aunt Beverly Blake, my cousins KerriAnn, Kristine Blake, Mark Swaby, and Aunt Linley, and all the wonderful friends, Chyna Lampkin, her mom, Miss Pat, Dawn Pope, Drew, Doeun Kean, Joi Johnson, Lonie Johnson, Joan Williamson, Merlene Knight, Carol Nicholson, Dennis Alan, and Alecia Holly. There is so many others who played a part, and I wouldn't have enough space to thank everyone but know for sure you are not forgotten.

    Chapter 1

    Memories

As I sit to write this book, memories begin to flood through my mind. I was born Deberann Tinson on May 23, 1962, to Mother Rubylin Bogle and Father Roy Tinson. From the time of conception, everything unknown to me was simply great. Babies are conceived in the moment of lust or love, and they are ordained by God, no matter how they were conceived. There is a purpose for their birth.

Going back from what I can remember, from age three and up, life seemed to be great—a loving mom and dad who works hard, comes home late, and most of the time missing in action. But nevertheless, he's always home at night.

Dad was known to me and my brother and sister as Arue, a nickname we grew up using; this nickname was given by my older sister, who could not say Roy. He would make sure we have everything we needed. We were never lacking anything; he would bring home little knickknacks, which we would anxiously wait for day by day. But one thing
