About this ebook

Homeopathy is experiencing a popular resurgence as a complementary approach to western medicine.
A Guide to Homeopathy is a quick reference guide to select a remedy for acute and chronic conditions such as colds, influenza, allergies, pain, headaches, and many more. You will find the application of 36 commonly used remedies that are contained in a remedy kit, which can be purchased from your local health food store or a homeopathic pharmacy.
It also offers an introduction to constitutional types with reference to a homeopathic remedy.

Homeopathy cures a larger percentage of cases than any other method of treatment and it is beyond all doubt safer and more economical and the most complete medical science.

    BRIEF HISTORY

Homeopathy was founded by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician (1755-1843). He had a successful medical practice, however when he came to the realization that the medical profession was doing people more harm than good, he left his medical practice to explore new avenues. Hahnemann spoke several languages and preferred to work as a translator to earn a living. His idealism and deep desire to make a difference in the way medicine was practiced encouraged him to do his own research.

It was in 1790 when he was translating Cullen’s materica medica and found out about the relationship between the bark of the China tree and intermittent fever. He tested the bark on himself and realized, that within a few hours he experienced intermittent fever, similar to those that occurred with malaria, which was a wide spread disease in those days. He also noticed, that by taking finer doses of the substance those fevers would disappear in people who had malaria. That is how he discovered the LAW OF SIMILARS ‘‘like cures like’’ or similia similibus curentur in Latin. This means that similar diseases are cured by similar remedies.
