About this ebook

Homeopathy is an alternative, complementary, cost effective, and very safe Healing System for infants to old-age. During early period of 20th century, it was practiced parallel to the conventional (allopathic) System. It is widely practiced in Germany, UK, India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The classical books on Homeopathy, published before the 1900s, describe often in obsolete medical terms, the theory, philosophy and symptoms of provings (drug testing). They are deficient in application methods to find the correct homeopathic remedy easily. They have little reference to pathological changes in tissues. In practice, different patients express their symptoms in different words, even though suffering from same disease. It is often difficult to find the correct homeopathic remedy, based on the patient's symptoms alone. K. Robinson, MD, a contemporary expert, wrote in an editorial The Cutting Edge, "I suppose, the overwhelming drive in the practice of homeopathy is toward precision in prescribing. Because the accurate prescribing is so difficult, we find ourselves studying constantly, and yet we never feel complete." (J.A.I.H, vol. 79, #1, March, 1986). This book, Homeopathy in Practice - Clinical Insights into Homeopathy and Remedies, offers the practical aspects, and clinical keynotes on remedies related to various illnesses, backed by successful reports, from journals, books, personal discussions and experiences of others. This book will help to find the correct remedy easily. Just refer to the relevant Heading in the Contents. Go to the associate page(s), and glance through the keynotes of remedies. You will often spot the correct homeopathic remedy.

Homeopathy in Practice - Iqbal Husain

    Foreword

To be added later after some well-known practitioners have reviewed the first publication and the author have received their comments.

    Preface

My book, titled Homeopathy in Practice—Clinical Insights into Homeopathy & Remedies, consists of five volumes. The headings/subjects and related remedies are organized in alphabetic order. The clinical notes on remedies are my filtered-down versions for easy reference by myself and other homeopaths not only to refresh our memory but also to bring our attention to the lesser-known remedies. Wherever available, I have also included reports of cured cases to further highlight the remedy’s clinical profiles and improve our confidence in their healing potentials. I have written the core profiles to be used as handy tools to hunt for the needed remedy at glance. I am sure, in daily practice, both the students and the experienced homeopaths will find them helpful in minimizing the need for repertorization and reference to various materia medica. In cases when these notes do not provide answers, then a reference to a repertory and materia medica becomes our last resort.

Let me quote the confessional statement by Dr. Karl Robinson, MD, one of our greatest contemporary homeopaths and teachers, in an editorial The Cutting Edge in the Journal of the American Institute of Homeopathy, vol. 79, no. 1, of March 1986: I suppose, the overwhelming drive in the practice of homeopathy is the drive toward precision in prescribing. He further says: "Because accurate prescribing is so difficult. We find ourselves studying constantly. We study the Organon, Kent’s Repertory, various materia medicas. We go to seminars, meetings, hang out with modern experts. We learn from each source, and yet we never feel complete."

Wow! What a truthful and courageous man our Dr. Robinson is! He further notes: It is particularly zesty to successfully prescribe one of the ‘little’ or ‘small’ remedies (one about which relatively little is reported in the provings and Materia Medicas).

He described two case of thrombophlebitis, which apparently looked similar in appearance, but one was cured with Vipera 200C and the other with Bothrops 6C, in which Vipera given initially had failed. At the end, he remarked, If there is a point to all this rambling, it is that it is not so easy to practice homeopathy successfully. And all the ‘how to’ rules are probably not much more than vague pointers. One has to practically plot to get some folks well.

The clinical notes I’ve extracted from my constant study of various materia medicas, articles, seminars, study group meetings, and nuggets exchanged personally with other homeopaths. These notes were primarily compiled for personal use as quick references to those remedies which have been confirmed clinically by the past and present masters. Whenever I shared these notes to my colleagues, they appreciated my efforts, found them very helpful, and encouraged me to write them down in a book in an organized form for the benefit of other homeopaths. This is my humble effort to help improve the clinical application of homeopathy.

There are great numbers of homeopathic materia medicas and repertories available to help us select the needed remedies in difficult cases. But the fact is that we cannot always find the right remedy just on the basis of the totality of symptoms in a case, as Dr. Robinson had boldly stated in the editorial mentioned above. Why? Because the classical or major materia medicas contain mostly the proving symptoms, and the repertories list so many more remedies for a rubric, all mixed up, not showing whether the remedy is listed based on the proving symptoms, or clinical verifications of the provings symptoms.

As I have written in some details in volume 2 of my book under the chapter of Homeopathy, Hahnemann himself had also experienced the very same difficulties as any modern-day homeopath faces today in the practice. To achieve the desired results in his cases, he himself wobbled, improvised, groped for direction, and changed his prescriptions frequently as his newly discovered casebooks show. He no longer prescribed solely on the totality of symptoms of a case, which he had been advocating for so long to be the basis for remedy selection. During his later years, based on his theory of miasms (inherited or acquired weakness in the immune system left behind the sufferings of chronic diseases by previous generations, or by an individual in his/her life) to be the causes of all the acute and chronic diseases, he adopted a new method of prescribing mostly on the miasmatic basis. At that stage, he also recognized that his older method of single dry dose and wait for a long time was too slow to achieve a cure, and therefore, he had abandoned the use of a single, unrepeated dry dose in favor of frequently repeated liquid doses one drop of liquid medicine, or few medicated pellets dissolved in a glass of water). The recent discovery of Hahnemann’s casebooks removed the multiple misconceptions about him and homeopathy, which were built through his theoretical writings and oral information. Most of the misconceptions had originated on rumors over the last 170 years. Until the discovery of his casebooks, there has been very little written evidence available concerning the practical application of his theories.(122, pp. 2, 13, 67, 115, ¹²³)

The proving symptoms or pathogenic actions of medicinal substances were produced in the healthy persons by taking them in rather material doses during the early periods of Hahnemann’s experimentation. Those symptoms list provide us only a vague, superficial, or a ballpark idea roughly hinting at their homeopathic healing potentials. In the next phases of provings, he used potentized substances—highly diluted and vigorously shaken—in his effort to catch the dynamic effects (more finer symptoms, especially the mental and general symptoms). The classical materia medicas such as Hahnemann’s Materia Medica Pura, Hering’s Guiding Symptoms, Allen’s Encyclopedia, or Hughes’s A Cyclopedia of Drug Pathogenesis contain a large number of symptoms as were reported by various provers. They are all mixed up in such a way that it is extremely difficult to identify the clinically applicable characteristics out of them. They do not provide precise indications for the selection of the most suitable remedy for a given case. Hahnemann himself was aware of these difficulties and, therefore, wrote about it under § 148, fn. 148, The search for the remedy that is homeopathically the most suitable, in all regards, for a given disease state is a laborious, occasionally a very laborious pursuit. While there are praiseworthy books available to help in this process [i.e., repertories, materia medica, therapeutic books, etc.], it is still necessary to study the original sources themselves [i.e. reports of original proving symptoms]. Many-sided circumspection and serious consideration is also required.

To solve this problem, he and his followers have been compiling repertories, somewhat like a dictionary. David Warkentin, who developed the software of MacRepertory, had noted that it contains only about 30 percent of the total data of provings symptoms listed in the full materia medicas, e.g., Hahnemann’s Materia Medica Pura, Hering’s Guiding Symptoms, Allen’s Encyclopedia, and Hughes’s A Cyclopedia of Drug Pathogenesis. The repertories are helpful in a rather mechanical way in the search for the remedy most similar to the symptoms of a given case.

As mentioned above, Hahnemann also noted that the process of hunting for the right remedy is very time-consuming and often proves elusive. It requires long hours of study over many years to become acquainted with the core clinical profiles, essences, or symptom groups applicable in actual practice. The so-called characteristic symptoms are very difficult to identify because they are embedded somewhere in between the long list of proving symptoms in the materia medica.

Dr. J. H. Clarke wrote in the Dictionary of Materia Medica, Vol. 1, on p. 805: A drug is of importance in homeopathy, not so much by a long list of proving symptoms, but by the small number of well-marked, and clinically confirmed symptoms, which correspond to the symptoms constantly met with in every day practice.

A constant study of remedies in various materia medicas is needed to discover those symptom groups that eventually form the clinical hints at the suitability of a remedy in a given case. Every careful and well-experienced practitioner comes to the realization that our repertories contain a lot of inconsistencies and ambiguities in the grades and number of remedies listed in more or less identical or very similar rubrics spread throughout various pages and sections. Many of the errors are carried over from the earliest proving symptoms reported by various provers. The repertories only give a list of possible remedies related to the symptoms of a case, and quite frequently, we need to refer to a full materia medica to make a comparative evaluation to discover the needed remedy—i.e., the remedy most similar to the salient features in a case.

This kind of hunting to find the right remedy in all kind of cases is essential for the new homeopaths, but the well-experienced homeopaths refer to them only in difficult cases. To search for the needed remedy, it is very taxing and time-consuming to read through the entire descriptions of remedies in various books, yet one often find that one still have missed it. The studies of the detailed descriptions of proving symptoms are essential to form a rough foundation on which to further develop and improve our understanding of the full potentials of our remedies (which can only be carried out by the Clinical Researchers, and not by the ordinary practitioners). The list of proving symptoms are not generally useful as quick references in daily practice. However, sometimes, the study of proving symptoms is helpful in confirming our selection. The complete list of proving symptoms of a remedy provides us only with the raw information or rough idea about its full healing potential. The real clinical features of a remedy evolve after it has been prescribed successfully in many cases. When dealing with acute and chronic illnesses in our daily practice, those detailed MM descriptions, in most cases, do not provide the precise information for practical application. After studying for many years and compiling the clinically proved information from various materia medicas and periodicals, I have compiled the five volumes of my book Homeopathy in Practice—Clinical Insights into Homeopathy & Remedies to help ease the burdens and some of these difficulties often faced with in the search of the right remedy.

In these five volumes, I have arranged the filtered-down versions of the core clinical or characteristic symptoms under the relative headings. I strongly feel that whenever you need to search for a remedy, you will find it easier to fish it out from the list of relevant remedies under the headings of illnesses. The descriptions of remedies form the usable groups, clusters, characteristic, and clinical symptoms relevant to the illnesses. The descriptions on the relevant remedies provide only the relevant core themes to help identify at a quick glance the most suitable remedy for a case in hand. I have kept the font size larger than most other books to make it easily readable without taxing the eyes too much. I have really tried hard to make this book as user-friendly as possible. I am aware of the room for further improvement, which I intend to do in future editions with the help of your valuable feedback.

I have presented the information on remedies with my conviction that they will prove to become the reader-friendly references for busy homeopaths. I have spent a lot of time and deliberations to filter out the central themes, concise images, or to the point notes on the related remedies under the heading of an illness, except in some places where I felt the need for a little lengthy description. The to the point notes may appear to some of you as disease-oriented or pathological prescriptions and in some cases may appear as near specifics for a pathology, seemingly falling short of the classical similarity to the totality of the patient’s symptoms—subjective feelings of sufferings in mind and body.

The proving symptoms give us only raw information or a ballpark idea about a remedy’s full healing potential. The real clinical features or pathological similarities of a remedy evolves only after it has been prescribed with repeated success. Dr. Nash had described this aspect very well in his Leaders in Homeopathic Therapeutics in the chapter on lycopodium in these words: A remedy must not only be well proven, but its clinical use with repeated and successful outcomes are necessary to learn its full range of usefulness in other cases.

I have always been fascinated and educated with the reports of cured cases by various authors in the current and old journals, which often seemed to me as if they have injected life into the lifeless images of many remedies imprinted in my memory, and therefore, I have included the reports of cured cases in the descriptions of remedies under the related clinical headings whenever possible. In the case histories, we see that different patients described their complaints in words which were often different than the words used by the provers of the needed remedies.

Our classical materia medicas are mostly built upon the spoken words of the original provers. We have to deal with different patients who use different words in describing their symptoms, depending on the level of education and time periods. For example, the symptom stitching pain may be described as pinching, piercing, thorn-like, or needle-like pain. In the case reports, we read the patients’ own words, which help us deepen our knowledge of remedies and bring forth their living portraits, like making a 2-D image into a 3-D.

The study of cured cases provide us with 3-D pictures and enrich our memories with various shades of the healing potentials of those remedies which were used successfully. The wider and deeper knowledge of remedies help us to widen their clinical applications more readily, which would not be possible otherwise. The study of cured cases also enhances our familiarity with the variety of practical methods and approaches used by the past and present masters in the selection of the successful remedies. The case reports of Hahnemann, his pupils and current masters, give us a moral boost from reading the struggles that they had to make.

We see that they often had tried one remedy after the other until that one was found which produced the desired success. We also read about the cases in which the well-indicated remedies had failed. I always feel fascinated to read again and again the most practical descriptions of remedies given in the Leaders by Dr. Nash, in which he had mentioned many examples of his successes and failures in his practice. From reading such examples, we get some sigh of relief, encouragement to keep on working hard in order to solve our most difficult cases. The readers of my Homeopathy in Practice—Clinical Insights are requested to send me reports of their cured cases, which I will try to include in future editions. Some readers may disagree with my presentation, but I am open to criticism, discussion, improvement, and revisions based on the feedbacks from our learned readers. My book in five volumes is a gift to the homeopathic profession. I believe the practical aspect of homeopathy should evolve in this direction.

My humble appeal to all the learned homeopaths is to study the Homeopathy in Practice—Clinical Insights into Homeopathy & Remedies with full attention. I assure you that you will find many clinical gems for use in your daily practice. After you have referred to the table of contents of these volumes a few times, you will become familiar with the arrangement of various headings and subheadings. Once you become familiar, all you need is find the required heading, glance through the core profiles of the related remedies, and you will often spot the needed remedy quickly. My book will become your handy tool for the proficiency with greater confidence in solving most of your difficult cases! I am also requesting you to send me your suggestions to help improve the future editions of this work. I will remain thankful and will acknowledge your contributions in future editions.

So far, there are no clinically established standards, guidelines, or protocols available to help select the best remedy, best potency, and frequency of dose repetition in an acute or chronic illness. In my understandings, this situation has led to the sidelining of homeopathy in the current medical system, especially in the developed countries. With more refinement in the light of modern medical knowledge, Homeopathy’s clinical application will provide with more consistent results, I am fully convinced that homeopathy will win the acceptance and respect by the mainstream medical community.

I am offering this work as my sincere effort in making homeopathy easy to learn, apply to achieve the desired therapeutic goals, convince the scientific medical community of the effectiveness and acceptance of homeopathy.

Similar to the habits of other practitioners, for more than 30 years, I have also been a copious reader of books, magazines, articles related to homeopathy, and have been making copious notes as ready references for my own use. These notes include the clinical hints on remedies gathered from reports of cured cases, especially on the remedies which have been found repeatedly curative in certain disease conditions. The studies of the clinical reports, of cases successfully treated, give an understanding, comprehension, and clarifications on the various aspects and potentials of remedies used better than the studies of dry descriptions given in our materia medicas.

To further highlight my reasoning, I am quoting Richard Hughes from the supplementary lecture LX, on p. 913 in his A Manual of Pharmacodynamics. It is a series of pathogenenic clinical cases, in which the real disease producing powers of drugs are displayed as the best way that can be.

    E. B. Nash wrote in his Leaders in Homeopathic Therapeutics in the chapter on Kali Muriaticum: It is likely to come into use more and more from its clinical results than from the provings. That is what Hering used to call a remedy born by breech presentation. Nash also said in the chapter on sulphur that it is not necessary for all the symptoms, listed in major Materia Medicas, to be present in case to justify its selection. There may be only one or two characteristic or clinically confirmed symptoms present in a case that may justify its selection.

The studies of cases enhance our knowledge of the clinical profiles of remedies successfully used. The case studies mark deep impressions in our memories of the life-like images of remedies, as if watching a 2-D movie in 3-D. The well-established clinical relationships of remedies to certain diseases also help in the search of the remedy.

To search for the right remedy in most cases, we need to refer to many source books in order to confirm our selection, because each one contains only a small part of the whole profile of a remedy. I have tried to cull the related information into these volumes from various sources and have arranged them alphabetically under the headings of disorders. By referring to my book, you can quickly glance over the clinical notes on the remedies listed under the related heading and will be able to select a suitable remedy for the case in hand. I am sure these clinical notes will improve the proficiency in your practice.

I have extracted these notes from various homeopathic materia medicas, articles in various journals, seminar notes, and personal exchanges with other practitioners. I am very grateful to all the old and contemporary masters, whose writings and teachings have taught me a lot. I have referenced them by numbers at the end of description. You will note that in my book, I have modified or clarified some of the old medical terms used in the Homeopathic literature, according to the current medical terms. (Please also see volume 2 under the headings History of Medicine and Homeopathy for my core understanding as to how a homeopathic remedy works by unlocking, triggering, and recruiting the untapped healing energies of a living body by matching the symptoms pattern of its proving to the symptoms pattern of an illness.)

How to use this book: Look into the table of contents. Go to the required heading, and note the related page number. Open that page, and glance through the core profiles of the relevant remedies. You will often spot the needed remedy for a case in your hand. After the remedies list, there are references to other headings for more info on the selected remedy. According to our standard repertories, which list the remedies by the standardized abbreviated names, I have used the same to save the space. For example, Aconitum napellus is listed as Acon., Aethusa cynapium as Aeth., Nux vomica as Nux-v., Rhus toxicodendron as Rhus-t., etc. Every trained homeopath is well versed with these abbreviations.

If you need to know the full names, please see the list at the end of the book. Now, regarding the potencies, please note that the numbers appearing after each remedy show the range in which that remedy has been used traditionally. For example, Acon. 3X–30X means that it can be used in 3X, 6X, 12X, or 30X; or Nux-v. 6C–10M means that it can be used in 6C, 12C, 30C, 200C, 1M, or 10M. The choice of a remedy’s potency and how often to repeat a dose depends on the severity of symptoms of an illness. Hahnemann, during later years, mostly prescribed the remedies in LM potencies, a.k.a. 50 millesimal scales. Because of lack of experience, I have not included any discussion on the LM potencies in my book at this time, which I intend to include in the next edition.

Air for Life, Health, and Higher Consciousness

The invisible, tasteless, and odorless air at sea level is a mixture of approximately 21 percent oxygen, 78 percent nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapors, traces of ammonia, argon, helium, hydrogen, neon, krypton, xenon, and other rare gases. The functions of breathing the air by all the living organisms consists not only to utilize the oxygen in it to continue the life processes but also to get the imprints of the creative energy, signatures, and wisdom of the nature. This understanding urges us to learn to breathe deeply and slowly to achieve the maximum benefits by body and mind. For thousands of years, all over the world, some people have been practicing various methods of breathing and mediation to achieve better health and higher levels of consciousness. The scientific studies have shown that human beings feel and function their best in the air having the temperature between 72 and 75 °F. The colder air is more condensed and contains relatively more concentrated particles of dust, pollutants, pathogentic viruses, and bacteria. That is one of the reasons that more people get sick with colds and coughs in winter and relatively less in summer.(67)

Affinities of Remedies to Specific Organs

Many of the biologically active substance have been identified to have special affinity to specific regions or organs of the body—e.g., to bones, muscles, fibrous tissues, mucous membranes, esophagus, stomach, liver, intestines, kidneys, lungs, skin, glands, nerves, etc. When taken internally in large doses, they act adversely and, if continued, may produce certain disorders of the related organ or system. But when they are administered in very, very small doses prepared according to the methods of homeopathy, they become healing remedies to cure the same or similar diseases. For example, arnica has affinity for muscles, chelidonium and phosphorus for liver, bryonia for synovial and mucous membranes, phosphorus for lungs, nux vomica for digestive tract, calcarea phos for bones, rhus tox for fibrous tissues, sepia for uterus and ovaries, kali phos and magnesium phos for nerves, etc.

Our current homeopathic materia medicas contain information of such affinities on a small number of remedies. We can identify such affinities of more remedies with careful studies of our repertories as they contain information from clinical observations in addition to the proving symptoms. To understand the full healing potentials of all the classically known remedies, we need to reprove (test) them according to the modern drug testing methods, e.g., double-blind method and also using the modern means, such X-ray, MRI, and blood tests, to precisely identify such affinities.

It has also been observed clinically many times that a remedy having a known affinity to an affected organ has been found curative when the other remedy has failed, which was selected on the totality of symptoms of a case. Another kind of affinity of a remedy is to the pathology or tissue changes—e.g., Apis to ovarian disorders, Arnica to bruises, Belladonna to inflammation, Cantharis to acute burns, Hypericum to injured nerves, Ledum to punctured wounds, Chelidonium to liver disorders, Ceanothus to spleen disorders, Symphytum to fractured bone, Bufo to lympahangitis, etc. This kind of knowledge will help us understand the targeted actions of our remedies and increase our precision in their selection.

There are also other kinds affinities identified by clinical observations, such as a remedy which affects mucous membranes also affects the skin; a remedy which affects the lower bowels also affects the uterus due to the extension of its action to the contiguous tissues.

It is essential for any practitioner to be current with the working knowledge of embryology, anatomy, physiology, biology, endocrinology, physical, and functional interconnectedness between organs and various body systems, pathology, and methods of diagnosis. This knowledge will help the practitioner to understand the subjective symptoms expressed by the patients in a meaningful way to arrive at a reasonable diagnosis and be able to utilize the homeopathic system to its full potential.(38, vol. 2, pp. 315, ⁵⁴¹)

Note: To save space and reduce number of pages of this book, the names of remedies related to a heading, are mentioned by their standard abbreviations, as used in the Kent’s Repertory. For example, AM-C. stands for AMMONIUM CARBONICUM; ARN. for ARNICA MONTANA, etc. If you are not familiar with an abbreviation, please look at the end of this book, in a table giving the full names of remedies.

The range of potencies (strengths) mostly used are mentioned with the lowest to the highest numbers, e.g. 6C-200C, means that a relevant remedy can be used in 6C, 12C, 30C or 200C, according to a condition or state of a disorder. Any practitioner may determine to use another potency outside of this range, according to the experience

VERAT-V. 3X–30C: It is a proven anti-inflammatory remedy and can be used in alternation with other indicated remedies in thalassemia. (See under Anemia for more info.)(73)

Anemia: Iron Def. and B12 Def. or Pernicious

Anemia due to iron deficiency: It is caused by greater demand on the stored iron than can be supplied due to chronic blood loss, chronic disease, chronic fevers, malnutrition, etc. The symptoms include pallor of skin, fingernail beds, and mucous membranes, sore tongue, drowsiness, weakness, vertigo, dyspnea, palpitation, tachycardia, angina pectoris, gastrointestinal disturbances, amenorrhea, slight fever. It can be successfully treated usually with oral ferrous sulfate or ferrous gluconate and a well-balanced diet.

Pernicious anemia: It is a severe form of blood disease, most common in the white race after the fourth decade of life, rarely before age of 35. It is marked by achlorrhydria, progressive decrease in RBC, muscular weakness, gastrointestinal disorders and neural disturbances. It may be fatal if not treated with vitamin B12, iron, and diet. It results from failure of stomach to secrete enough intrinsic factor to insure intestinal absorption vitamin B12. This is due to atrophy of glandular mucosa of stomach and is associated with absence of hydrochloric acid. Symptoms include sore tongue, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, breathing difficulties, weight loss, tingling in limbs, and signs of cardiac failure. (See also under Anemia Inherit.; Digest. Syst. … Spleen Dis.; Vol. 2 under Immune Syst. Dis.)

ALUM: (See under Digestive System Disorders … Malabsorption.)

AM-C. 30C–200C: It is a useful intercurrent remedy to help the action of other indicated remedies in anemia. It stimulates the functions of venous system, lungs, heart, and removes the under-oxygenated condition of blood. (Its action is similar to but proven superior to Carb-v.) It suits especially the obese women who are anemic, chilly, tired, with a desire to remain in bed. It is also an effective antihemorrhagic remedy for premature or profuse menses, usually of dark color, which often leads to anemia. It is one of the six gems of homeopathy, claimed by an Indian homeopath B. Bhattacharya after his long observation of its usefulness. (See Vol. 2 under Heart Dis. … Angina, Vol. 3 under Asthma for more info.)(73)

ARN. 3X–200C: Dr. Blackley of UK had reported four cases of pernicious anemia cured with small doses of Arn. (Probably he meant Arn. 3X, which seems to help the gastrointestinal mucosa to make the required amount of intrinsic factor needed to facilitate absorption of vitamin B12.)(67) (121, p. 58)

ARS. 6C–200C: It is one of the best remedies for pernicious anemia, characterized by great anxiety, numbness, tingling, prostration, edema, smooth tongue, shortness of breath, palpitation, pale skin and mucous membranes, anorexia, diarrhea and frequent formation of the petechia (tiny red spots on mucous membranes). In the pernicious anemia, iron supplements do not help. Ars. is useful in anemia caused by menorrhagia or by toxic influence of malaria. There is a strong desire for acid foods. (See under Digest. Syst. … Inflam. of Stomach for more info on its wide range of benefits.)(119, p. ²⁶⁰)

BERB. Φ–200C: It boosts the function of organs related to metabolism. It should always be given in chronic diseases in alternation with other indicated remedies to speed up the recovery process. (See also Vol. 3 under Knee Joint OA; Hip Joint OA for more info.)

BERB. and NAT-S. 6X–30X: These detox remedies should be given in alternation with other indicated remedies for more rapid recovery. (See also Vol. 3 under Knee Joint OA for details.)

CALC-AR. 6C–200C: It is indicated for enlarged liver, spleen, and mesenteric glands, especially in infants and children, in affections of pancreas and kidneys in adults. It has been found useful to relieve the abdominal pains in cases of cancer of pancreas, and in various complaints of fat women around the onset of menopause, such as palpitation from slightest emotional excitement, anemia, and low red cell count.(8)

CALC. 30C–10M: It possesses wide spectrum of therapeutic action and seems to enhance the release of HGH by the pituitary. When indicated as a constitutional remedy, it can cure many diseases, including the pernicious anemia. It stimulates the stomach to secrete enough intrinsic factor for absorption of iron from the digested foods. Calc. has also cured deep-seated abscesses when Sil. failed even though it was indicated. At suitable intervals, it should be continued for a period of six months after the anemia has been cured to consolidate the cure. (See Vol. 3 under Osteoporosis for more details.)(97, pp. 167–168, ¹⁷²)

CALC-P., FERR-P. and NAT-P. 3X–12X: These tissue salts, used in alternation or in combo, are useful in simple anemia. They are indicated by poor blood circulation, coldness, and numbness in the limbs. Calc-p. assists the bone marrow to make new blood cells, improve digestion and assimilation. Ferr-p. improves the digestion, quality of blood cells, and tones the walls of blood vessels. Nat-p. acts as an antacid and improves the digestion.(71, pp. 2⁰–²²)

Calp-p. 6X is useful to increase the RBC count. One of England’s king was treated with Calc-p. 6X for the dangerous reduction in his RBC. After two weeks’ treatment, his blood count became normal.(88, p. 113) (Cf. Nat-m. and Calc-p. below for more uses.)

CALC-P. 6X, FERR-P. 6X: These remedies can be used in alternation to cure simple anemia. The calcium helps the body absorb iron more effectively. These are wonderful remedies to improve the overall health of children, young girls, pregnant women, especially when they get constipated from taking iron supplements. Dr. Ramakrishnan said in one of his seminar lectures that anemic condition can be improved by taking Ferr-p. 6X, four tabs in morning and evening for two to four weeks.(62, Feb. 2008, p. 28)

CALC-P. 6X + FERR-P. 6X + KALI-P. 6X: This combo has proved effective to cure simple anemia. It improves the digestion and absorption of nutrients from the properly digested foods, resulting in the increase of hemoglobin in the blood and removal of general weakness. This combo greatly benefits the overall health of pregnant women and helps the healthy growth of the fetus. It also removes the tendency to miscarriages. After the birth, if the baby appears to be very weak, add Sil. 6X to this combo.(97, pp. 172, 435, ⁵²⁵)

    CALC-P. 6X + FERR-P. 6X + KALI-P. 6X + SIL. 6X: This combo helps the healthy growth in premature babies.(97, pp. 172, ⁴³⁵)

(CALC-P. 6X + FERR-P. 6X + KALI-P. 6X) + (NAT-P. 6X): The combo of Calc-p. + Ferr-p. + Kali-p. has proven to be effective for iron-deficiency anemia in men, unmarried girls and pregnant women. Take four tabs, three times a day for three to four weeks, and test the blood again. If the hemoglobin level is still below 12–16 g/100 ml in females and below 14–18 g/100 ml in males, then add Nat-p. 6X to this combo. Nat-p. alone has proven useful for anemia and diabetes.(97, p. ⁵²⁵)

CHEL.: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)

CHIN. 6C–200C: It is also called as Cinchonna Off. The toxic effect of taking large doses of crude form destroys the WBC, decreases the size and number of RBC, and increases the fibrin. These changes in the blood are similar to pernicious anemia, caused by bleedings, loss of fluids, and malaria.(35, pp. 106, ³⁰⁸)

Chin. has great affinity to the stomach, liver, and intestines. It is indicated for anemia following loss of vital body fluids, e.g., from chronic diarrhea, vomiting, hemorrhages from bowels, heavy menstrual flow or prolonged discharge from boils. Chin. is especially suitable to persons with nervous erethism—very touchy, take offense easily, get greatly excited mentally, physically, are very sensitive emotionally like Nat-m. and Ferr., very irritable like Nux-v., and sleeplessness from fancy of heroic deeds. (Some experienced homeopaths say that Ferr. 6C and Chin. 6C, given in alternation cure the anemia rapidly.)(67; ¹²⁰)

CHION: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver Function.)

CHOL: (See under Liver … Torpid or Weak Function; Biliary Colic.)

DIG. 3C and FERR. 3X: When these remedies are taken in alternation, the cure of anemia or chlorosis (severe iron-deficiency anemia) is achieved in half the time than when Ferr. is taken alone. (Some homeopaths have reported that Ferr. 6C and Chin. 6C given in alternation provide rapid improvement in the anemia.)(67, ³⁸, vol. ², p. ²¹²)

Dros. 30C–200C: It should always be considered as an intercurrent remedy in the chronic cases as it is a proven antitubercular remedy. (See under Stomach Dis. … Ulceration; Vol. 3, Musculoskeletal System … Caries of Bones; Vol. 4 under Respiratory System for details.)

EUONIN. 3X–30C: (See under Hepatitis, Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)

FERR-AC. Φ-6X: It is indicated for anemia. In 1X dilution, it is an excellent source of iron. When it is given in 3X, it is generally followed by more rapid increase in the blood iron level than the results obtained from material doses as supplement.(119)

FERR. 6C–30C: It is indicated for anemia caused from chronic loss of blood from nose, menses, or bowels similar to China. The patient’s physical, mental, and emotional oversensitivity is also similar to Chin. (Some well-experienced homeopaths have reported that Ferrum 6C and Chin. 6C, given in alternation, provides rapid improvement in the anemia.)(67, ¹²⁰)

FERR-P. 3X–6X: It is an excellent tonic and blood-making remedy for iron-deficiency anemia. It should be given after meals.(72, pp. 142, ²⁷¹)

HELON. Φ-30C: It removes the torpid condition of women’s digestive and reproductive system. It promotes healthy secretions of digestive juices and female’s hormones. It cures anemia by improving the appetite, digestion, and assimilation. The cure is manifested by normal level of hemoglobin in the blood and improvement in overall health. (Cf. Kali-c., which also exerts a positive influence on the manufacture of blood.) Dose: For muscular women, give Helon. 12C or 30C to relieve the congestion in the reproductive organs. For anemic or thin women, give it in Φ-3X. (Note: The virtues described here for Helon. are also associated with Senec. See below.) (See also under MM Sect. … Keynotes and Clinical Hints; Vol. 2 under Female Reprod. Syst. … Fungal Infection for more details.)(38, vol. 2, pp. 300–303) (30, p. ⁷³⁶)

Helon. is indicated for anemia, weakness, poor digestion, burning, and cramps in abdomen. The anemia is often accompanied by mental depression, irritability, finding fault in everyone, intolerance to any contradiction, great restlessness, and a need to move around and keep occupied to feel better. Helon. 6C has been given in alternation with Ferr. 6C successfully in anemia and in alternation with Nux-v. 6C in dyspepsia. Helon. 6C has given excellent results in many cases of anemia. It also acts as a uterine tonic.(38, vol. 2, pp. 293–96) (121, p. ³⁰⁴)

It is indicated for iron deficiency anemia. It improves the quality of blood, increases the iron levels, and cures the chlorosis.(119, p. ⁵¹²)

HELON. 6C and FERR. 6C: These are given in alternation for simple anemia (iron-deficiency anemia). Severe form of anemia produces a greenish tint in skin due to some disease in the female’s reproductive organs and weak digestive functions.(38, vol. 2, p. ²⁹⁴)

HELON. 3X and NUX-V. 6C: When the above remedies fail, give these remedies in alternation for simple anemia due to weak digestive functions.(38, vol. 2, p. ²⁹⁴)

IRID. 30C–200C: It is one of the heaviest metals known. It is an admirable remedy, better than Chin., in all kinds of anemia due to some chronic diseases such as internal putrefaction and septicemia in the puny or weak-limbed children, and also for anemia in children growing too fast.(46)

KALI-I. and IOD. 3X–200C: These are effective remedies for chronic inflammations, acne, pustules, eruptions, dark spots in skin, detoxification of blood, improving functions of thyroid gland, pituitary gland, pancreas, and pathological growths. (See Eyes … Inflam. of Outer Layers … Orbital and Periorbital Cellulitis, Vol. 2 under Face … Acne for details.)

LEPT: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)

LYC: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)

MANG. 30C–200C: It seems to act very much like iron in improving the level of hemoglobin. It may be interpolated to favor the action of Ferr.(30, p. ⁶⁴⁰)

MANG. and SULPH.: (See Sulph. and MANG. below.)

MERC-D.: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver for details.)

MERC-V.: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver for details.)

NAT-M. 6C–10M: It is one of our best remedies for anemia, especially in patients who are emotionally oversensitive, prone to easy upsets, resulting in deficient secretion of HCL in the stomach, and other digestive enzymes for proper digestion of the essential nutrients. The anemia is not related to lack of iron-containing food consumption but to the mental depression, which is one of the characteristics symptoms of Nat-m. It is indicated for anemia with emaciation, pale complexion, scanty menses, constipation, shortness of breath, throbbing headaches, palpitation, fluttering or intermittent beats of the heart. Dr. Nash had cured many such cases with single doses of high potencies of Nat-m.(32a, p. 533) Nat-m. is one of the best remedies to cure anemia, especially in patients who are deeply depressed, highly sensitive emotionally, refined natured, overly responsible, and perfectionist. They are vulnerable to get easily hurt from insults, criticism, humiliations, or rejection. They are overly self-conscious of their physical appearance and weight, eat only cautiously selected foods so as not to get fat and, therefore, unconsciously deprive themselves of vital nutrients making them anemic. Nat-m. removes or reduces the inhibitive nature, brings back the positivity in life, and indirectly helps the anemia to disappear. (See under Conjunctivitis, Vision Impairment … Amaurosis for more info.)(120)

Nat-m. is an effective remedy to improve the digestion, assimilation, and metabolism resulting in sufficient heat generation in the body. It is especially suitable to patients who are anemic, emaciated, chilly, and emotionally oversensitive. (It should also be considered to improve general health of patients with cachexia: weakness, loss of appetite, and emaciation, associated with advanced stage of cancer, goiter, and multiple sclerosis.)(67; 30, p. ⁶⁷⁹)

It is one of the very useful remedies for the treatment of anemia, especially when associated with malaria, heart disease, and mental depression.(58, vol. 1, p. ³⁰¹)

Nat-m. is useful for anemia in young girls, especially when accompanied by the delay in the first appearance of the menses.(73, vol. 2, p. ⁵⁵²)

NAT-M. and CALC-P. 6C–200C: These are very useful remedies to treat simple anemia with tendency to frequent headaches in young girls. Sometimes, it is difficult to choose between them. Nash wrote, In actual practice, sometimes I do get a case which is not developed far enough symptomatically to help me choose between the two, which seem equally indicated. Indeed, sometimes I could not make the right choice and have to give Calc-p. when Nat-m. has failed and vice versa.(32a, p. ⁵³⁴)

NAT-M., CALC-P. and FERR-P. 6X–30X: These are used as tissue salts to cure simple anemia. They improve HCL production and digestive enzymes in the stomach for improved digestion and assimilation resulting in the cure of anemia. They can be given in alternation or in combination.(71, p. 28)

NAT-S.: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)

PODO.: (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)

PODOPHYLLIN 3X–6X: It is an alkaloid of Podophyllum. It stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, improves the digestion, assimilation and blood-making process. The digestive weakness is illustrated by a large broad tongue with pasty coat in center. The tongue may show increased redness, dull bluish tone, erect papillae, and rough surface. It should be tried in anemia due to weak digestion and assimilation.(38, vol. 2, pp. 547–548)

PYROG. 200C–10M: It should be given as the first remedy in the treatment of anemia to eliminate any hidden infection in the body so as to clear the path for better action of other indicated remedy. (See also under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)(67)

SULPH. 30C–200C: It should be given intercurrently with other indicated remedies in the treatment of anemia, especially in patients with existing or past history of skin eruptions. Sulph. helps remove the congestion of liver, portal system, intestinal canal and acts as an overall detoxifying remedy. (See also under Liver … Torpid Function for more info.)(30, pp. 132, ⁴⁷⁶)

THUJ. 6X–200C: It detoxifies the body of autotoxins, softens the hardened tissues, adhesions, warts to fall off, and removes spider veins. It can be given intercurrently to support other remedy for anemia. (See Vol. 5, under Skin, Tumors, Warts for details.)(30, p. ³¹⁰)

TUB. 200C–10M: It is considered as a species of Psor. It has been used successfully in many cases of anemia, especially in patients of tubercular family history.(76, pp. 950–951)

VANAD. 3X–200C: It acts as an antioxidant, detoxifier, regenerator, and can be given along with other remedies for anemia. (See under Hepatitis for more info on its wide-ranging benefits)

VERAT-V. 3X–30C: It has scored chief successes in resolving the inflammation and congestion in variety of diseases. The pain, nausea, vomiting, and a red streak along the center of tongue are the confirming indications. It can be used in alternation with other indicated remedy for anemia. It was used mostly in low potencies.(73)

ZINC. 30C–200C: It is indicated for anemia, with a history of suppressed eruptions, discharges or incomplete recovery from a previous disease. This kind of anemia is often accompanied by very weak nervous system, burning pains in the back especially in the lumbar region. (See under Torpid or Weak Function of Liver.)

    Autoimmune Disorders

(See Vol. 2 under Immune System Disorders.)

    Bleeding Tendency (Hemorrhagic Diathesis)

Epistaxis, Ecchymosis, Purpura Hemorrhagica, Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP)

(See also under Hemophilia; Digest. Syst. … Spleen Diseases.)

ADREN. 30C–200C: It is indicated in active bleeding associated with panic—e.g., dry mouth, tachycardia, and constricted feelings in lungs causing difficult breathing, hypertension, and disturbed peristalsis. It especially suits the nervous and agitated persons for bleedings from nose, lungs, intestines, or uterus. It should be tried in those cases of bleeding which do not indicate any other remedy or an indicated remedy fails. It is very useful in epistaxis.(97, vol. 2, p. 19)

AM-C. 30C–200C: It is an effective antihemorrhagic remedy, especially of venous blood from any organ or outlet of the body. It is suitable especially for obese patients of sedentary habit, always tired, chilly, and who show poor or no healing response to the well-indicated remedies. It is also useful for bad effects of exposure to charcoal fumes. (Similar to but proven superior than Carb-v.) Case: A woman, 35, was on the verge of collapse due to continuous heavy uterine hemorrhage for a month. She also felt the most annoying discomfort about her heart. She was given few doses of Am-c. 200C at suitable intervals. After the first dose, she felt almost immediate relief in the heart discomfort and gradually recovered fully. It is one of the six gems of homeopathy, claimed by an Indian homeopath B. Bhattacharya after his long experience with its usefulness. (See also Vol.2, under Generative Organs’ Dis., Menstrual Cycle Dis.; Heart Dis … Angina; Vol.4, under Resp. Tract Dis. … Asthma, for more info on this very promising remedy.)(73; 121, p. 34)

BERB. and NAT-S. 6X–30X: These detox remedies can be given in alternation with other indicated remedy for more rapid recovery. (See also Vol.3, under Musculoskeletal Syst., Knee Joint O.A, for details.)

CHIN. Φ-6X: Dr. Royal had great success in several cases of excessive menstrual flow due to atony of uterus or after childbirth. He gave Chin. Φ five drops in water every hour until the flow lessened and then gave it at longer intervals.(121, p160)

CROT-H. 30C–10M: It is an excellent remedy to check hemorrhage due to low platelet count in the blood. This condition may be caused by low-grade fever, diphtheria, typhoid, or yellow fever. The blood comes out from every outlet of the body; even the sweat becomes bloody. (Cf. Acet.-ac., Phos., Sul-ac.). [See also Vol. 4 under Nose Bleeding, for more info.](32) It is a clinically proven remedy for serious hemorrhagic disorders, such as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), caused by pronounced reduction in the blood platelets. The cause is unknown but is suspected to be vasculitis, allergy, or drug sensitivity. It may be caused by the presence of subclinical toxins in the blood that destroy or agglutinate the platelets. The patient looks prostrated, congested, purplish, or cyanotic. The tongue looks bright red as if polished, tendency to dark and offensive watery stools, and edema in the extremities, especially the hands. It has cured a very bad case in which the patient was bleeding from nose, mouth, bladder, bowels, and had blue-black spots all over the body, with very low blood platelet count. Crot-h. 10M, one dose, was followed by rise in platelet to normal levels within few days.(93) (Cf. Pyrog.). [See also under Cholesterol High; Hemophilia; Vol. 4 under Nose, Bleeding, for more info.](93a, p. 174) (93, pp. 32, 182, ²⁶⁸)

Dros: (See under Anemia; and Vol.4, under Resp. Syst., …)

ERIG. 6C–200C: It has cured all kinds of hemorrhages, such as epistaxis, hematemesis with violent retching and burning in stomach, hemoptysis, and bleeding hemorrhoids, hematuria from stone in bladder with violent irritation, bleeding from uterus and pelvic organs or rectum with congestion of head, red face, and fever.(32, p. ²¹⁹)

FERR-P. 6X–30X: According to Dr. Schussler, when the molecules of iron molecules in the muscles cells have suffered a disturbance in their motion due to a foreign influence or irritation, the muscles become flaccid. If this disturbance takes place in the walls of the blood vessels, their tone and size are reduced, and consequently the circulation of blood through them is slowed down, resulting in congestion and first stage of inflammation. When this condition is not treated early enough, it leads to active and passive hemorrhages. When it is treated with Ferr-p., the muscular coats of blood vessels regain their normal tone; hence, blood circulation and function of immune system are improved, inflammation disappears, and any internal or external hemorrhage is stopped. (See under Eye Dis. … Conjunctivitis for more info.)(73, p. ⁷⁷¹)

FIC. Φ–6X: It is a wonderfully effective remedy to check excessive bleeding from any external injury to the body or trauma to internal organs. It has proved very rapid in its action to check the bleedings. (See also Vol. 5 under Skin … Injuries, Bleedings for more info on this very promising remedy for hemorrhages. See reports of many cured cases in his book.)(121, pp. 243–244)

FIC. Φ and HAM. Φ: (See under Hemophilia for details.)

Ham., Phos. and Senec. 6C–200C: These remedies are indicated for vicarious hemorrhage—that is bleeding from nose or other parts, especially in the absence of the menstrual flow, but Senec. has this tendency more strikingly.(19, p. ⁸⁶¹)

KREOS. 30C–200C: It is indicated to check the passive bleeding, oozing or spotting of a dark-colored and offensive-smelling blood, e.g., after a tooth extraction, metrorrhagia when the flow continues for weeks, causing fainting and collapse.(102, p. ³⁹⁹)

MILL. 30C–10M: Bhardwaj said, In cases of epistaxis, I have always used only one dose of Mill. 1M and have found it satisfactory to stop the bleeding rapidly.(121, p. ⁴²⁰)

A famous Indian homeopath, Mr. Mirza, had used it successfully in cases of sudden bleeding from uterus in pregnant women threatening a miscarriage, profuse bleeding from a trauma or from excessive physical exertion. He has helped many pregnant women who had the past history of miscarriages during early months of pregnancy from sudden bleedings. After taking Mill. CM., one dose, they went through the full term without any bleeding episode. He has also used it successfully to stop the continuous bleeding after accidents and suggested to give it for one to two weeks before any surgery to minimize the bleeding in patients prone to excessive bleedings.(97, vol. 2, pp. 601, ⁶⁵⁸)

Mill., ERIG. and TRILL. 200C–10M: Hahnemann said, Millefolium causes nosebleed and hematuria. From clinical observations, Erig., and Trill. have also become well known as antihemorrhagic remedies. Dr. Nash himself was subjected to frequent epistaxis and have tried many remedies without any benefit. On the advice of his grandmother, he dug out a root from her backyard, chewed it, and was cured. It also checks the hemorrhage from an injury, e.g., a blow to the head. He wrote, If Arn. fails in such a case, I would think of Millefolium.(32, pp. 220, 221) (Cf. Verbena in MM by Boericke.)

MILL. 30C + PHOS. 30C: In high blood pressure, red burning eyes, blurred vision, and if there is tendency to epistaxis, this combo has often proved successful. It also controls the profuse or prolonged menstruation with pelvic cramps.(97, vol. 2, pp. 601, ⁶⁵⁸)

PHOS. 30C–200C: It is indicated for hemorrhagic diathesis, Purpura Hemorrhagica and Thrombocytopenia Purpura. Slight wounds may bleed to death. It is useful when the blood does not clot due to very low levels of platelets in the blood, leading to extensive ecchymosis, bruising, and bleeding from everywhere. In systemic disease with petechia, tiny red or purplish spots on skin caused by leakage of a small quantity of blood from a capillary, it is useful. It is also useful in superficial hemorrhage, appearing as pinkish blue spots, first in extremities and then in crops over large areas.(32, p. ¹⁹³)

Phos. stands at the top among the antihemorrhagic remedies. It’s effective not only to check the acute bleeding but also to prevent its recurrence. When the blood has lost its natural coagulability (a condition of low platelet, and prothrombin levels, such as seen in ITP), small wounds continue to bleed; blood-streaked discharges occur from nose, lungs, bowels, and uterus, and menses last longer than usual. It is also indicated in vicarious menstruation leading to hemoptysis, epistaxis, or hematuria. Case: A girl, ten, was suffering from purpura on inner sides of her thighs. It began with loss of appetite and stomach pain. Few doses of Phos. 30C removed the purpura. As soon as the purpuric spots disappeared, her appetite returned, and the stomach pain also disappeared. (See also under Crohn’s Disease for more info.)(73)

Hering gave Phos. 30C to a patient, which rapidly healed his vascular bleeding fungous on the thigh with darting pain.(121, p. 493) M. L. Tyler M.D. treated a case of tongue cancer with severe bleeding. Phos. 200C, one dose, stopped the bleeding quickly without any recurrence. However, she had warned that Phos. 200C or higher should not be given in advance stages of TB in lung as it may start a hemorrhage, endangering the life. In such cases, give it only in low potencies such as 6C, 12C, or 30C.(96)

SENEC. 6C–200C: It is indicated for the tendency to hemorrhages from mucous membranes, such as nasal catarrh accompanied with nosebleed, spitting of blood from throat and lungs. It is a remedy of highest order for hemorrhages in catarrhal condition. The vicarious bleeding especially in the absence of menstrual flow is a strong and striking feature of Senec. Wherever there is an inflammatory spot or catarrhal condition of mucous membrane, it will bleed in the absence of expected menses on due date. Bry., Ham., and Phos. are generally used for such vicarious hemorrhages, but when this condition occurs to a very striking degree, Senec. is indicated. It is also an eminent remedy especially suited to the waxy anemic girls who have suppression of menstrual flow due to getting the whole body or feet wet, and sometimes the amenorrhea continues for many months with catarrh in chest and cough or have menorrhagia, a copious menstrual flow until they become anemic, also for violent dysmenorrhea. These anemic girls become dropsical after slow hemorrhage from uterus, kidneys, or bladder. It is also a wonderful remedy for establishing the regular cycle of menses. Under its action, the cough gradually disappears, and regular menstrual flow is established.(76, pp. 859–861)

TER. 6C–200C: It has selective affinity for the mucous membranes of kidneys, bladder, urethra, uterus, and other organs. It has been found very effective to check the internal hemorrhages from mucous membranes of affected regions, including those occurring in enteric fever. It is also an effective remedy for purpura hemorrhagica, in which fresh hemorrhages occur frequently from day to day. If the patient’s tongue appears smooth and glossy, as if deprived of the papillae or as if seared in the middle with a hot iron, and shows bright-red spots, you should immediately think of Ter. The kidneys are very prone to develop nephritis after an infection of diphtheria, scarlet fever, or typhoid. There is violent burning sensation in the uterus, a characteristic of Ter. There may be cutting pain in back over kidney regions, in bladder, and along the urethra during the passage of urine containing blood and albumin.(31, p. ⁸⁹¹)

It is a great antihemorrhagic remedy and especially useful in passive bleeding in urine, making it turbid or smoky, depositing coffee-ground-like sediments. It corresponds to hematuria, albuminuria, and edema following scarlet fever. The burning sensation, especially in uterus, is a characteristic indication for Ter. The toxic effects of over doses of crude Phosphorus are antidoted by homeopathic doses of Terebinthinae. On the reverse side, the toxic effects of Ter. poisoning are antidoted by homeopathic doses of Phos. Case: A man was badly poisoned by taking doses of Phos. 2X or 3X for hematuria without much benefit. Other remedies also failed. Then he took doses of Ter. 3X and got more relief than any other remedy.(73)

TRASYLOL: In a CBS 60 Minutes report of February 17, 2008, this drug was used in the past to minimize bleeding during surgery in patients prone to bleedings. It
