My Heart My Mind and My Pen Combined - Rita Ann Corrado

    Chapter One

    My Heart My Mind

    And My Pen

Some people think I can pick up a pen

And simply just write a poem

What they don’t know is it comes from my heart

And not from my pen alone

As my pen glides along expressing each thought

    Releasing each feeling inside

They are emotions I have all pent up

In my mind and my heart all combined

I want to leave words and feelings and thoughts

Behind when life comes to an end

I hope to help others if they read the words

From my heart and my mind and my pen

    My Unexpected Life

When I was young on the threshold of life

I wondered which way I should go

The future ahead was blind from my eyes

What was in store I did not know

I thought I’d go north but then I turned south

I thought I’d go east but went west

Although it was hard to make up my mind

The decisions I made were my best

If I could live my life over again

I think of some things I might change

It mattered not what my troubled lot

As long as I lived in His name

Things came to pass that shattered my dreams

And O how I wished I would die

It was out of my hands and into His plans

For He knows the reason why

Some things I did maybe I wouldn’t do

Some things maybe I wouldn’t say

    But one thing’s for sure

    Though we don’t understand

    Everything works out His way

    Loneliness

If you’ve never had a deep heavy

    Empty feeling throughout every

    Inch of your body

And a deep hollow ache echoing

Inside what feels like a dark

    Hole in your chest

    With emptiness just weighing

    You down—if you never

    Had this feeling then you’ve

    Never been lonely

    Scripture Reading:

Jesus said to His friends: My heart is broken with sorrow. Remain here with Me. Be on guard and pray. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. He prayed to His Father: Father, if it is possible, take this cup of suffering from Me. Nonetheless, not mine, but Your will be done.

    (From Matthew 26)

Sometimes when I am troubled I pray and I say.

    "Jesus I’m scared and lonely.

    At times when I’ve been

in most need and very much in pain the people

I thought would be there walked away."

When I feel this way I think of Jesus in the

Garden of Gethsemane the night before He died.

Suppose I had been there that night just passing

Through the garden. I don’t know what He would

Have said to me. But He could have said."

"Rita I’m scared and lonely. I asked my best friends

If they would watch one hour and pray with
