The Birth of a Blessing: A Fertile Spirit
()
About this ebook
As with natural pregnancy, the first trimester is the most critical. During the earlier stage, the enemy lurks in every corner waiting to snatch the seed of the word of God out of the believer like the seed that fell on stony ground. That seed was initially received with joy just like the natural news of pregnancy. However, if the seed is not planted deeply, the seed cannot take root, as it should. Moreover, when trouble comes, the initial enthusiasm is lost and the pregnancy is aborted.
This book examines the development of the believers faith and spiritual strength. The full- term birthing of the blessing is the most anticipated part. By the time it comes to fruition, believers are certain of their spiritual convictions and faith in God and have gained confidence. This, however, does not guarantee them freedom from trials and temptation. Satan is always around to put doubt in the hearts of believers, no matter how strong or weak their faith is.
This book is filled with the Word of God and the works of God. It provides clear and concise help in bringing understanding to the preparation that precedes the blessings that God has promised for our lives. Not only is this book a valuable resource for every believer truly seeking to know the will of God and walk in it, but it is also a powerful teaching tool that will benefit ministry groups of any size.
I pray that this book will aid in bringing about a supernatural revelation that will change your life forever. What God has for you, is for you.
Edward G. Robinson
Raised in one of the toughest sections of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the author had come face to face with life altering and life threatening decisions. Understanding that direction without the right spiritual connection leads to defection from God, he stayed the course that God had purposed for him. Out from the city's crime-ridden streets, God birthed in him blessings that would later be manifested as great victories. Between the covers of this book, the author shares personal experiences and examples of the process God takes one through in order to birth each blessing.

Bibliography
This book is dedicated to my mother, the late Victoria Robinson, and my mother-in-law, the late Marcella Sargent. The wisdom and love I have garnered from them will forever be a part of me and for that, I am eternally grateful. Although they are no longer with me in the natural, their love will always live in me and through me.

My wife and children were so patient with my late nights, and I want to thank them for their faithful support in writing this book. I have had the pleasure of meeting people who exemplify a certain level of intelligence; however, it is rare to meet one who has both natural intelligence and extraordinary spiritual insight. Clarice Wofford is one of those individuals. Thank you for reading through this book and helping to make sure the message was relevant as well as accurate. You have been a tremendous blessing. Dr. Sheila Berry, Haviland Harper, Billy Harris, Thomas Williams, Ervin Rodgers, Virginiann Vigliotta, and Lisa McEvoy have all, in their own way, been wonderful in providing encouraging words that have helped me during those times that I needed it most. To my brothers Warren and Troy, as well as my beautiful sisters Angel, Lisa, and Joy—I love you all. Numerous members of clergy have imparted in me spiritual sustenance that has served as a foundational base by which I have been able to not only stand in the midst of trials, but reign over each trial. These members of clergy include Pastor David Howard, Jr., Pastor Terry Bradshaw, Bishop Jack Vaughn, Pastor Vernon Magahee, Evangelist Ora Magahee, Pastor Mike Robinson, and Pastor Roger Johnson. I thank each of them for pouring into me. One is ever so blessed to receive so much more from another than they could ever give back. Bishop Ivan Ackerman and Pastor Cindy Ackerman have been such an inspiration and have provided me with unwavering support and encouragement. Without their words, thoughtfulness, and teachings, this book would have been very difficult to complete. I thank you and the Loch Lynn church family for being there at the appointed time during my birthing of this blessing.
Foreword
Looking for a life of significance, we journey to find and fulfill our destiny, the very reason and purpose we were born. Our life changes the day that we begin to understand that the very God-given, innate desires within us, those passions that compel us and complete us, are our purpose for existence. The moment we comprehend who we are in Christ and what we were born to do, is the moment we begin to walk in the blessings of God. We discover that blessings are a direct result of our obedience.

Introduction
The earth is the LORD’S and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
(Psalm 24:1)
It is important for Christians to get a firm grasp and understanding of the spiritual birthing of a blessing. Spiritual birthing may be largely unknown and even misunderstood within many churches. Often, Christians give up during the time of development of the blessing because it is not obvious to the natural eye, when day-by-day the blessing grows. If people can grasp the understanding that the process of birthing a blessing is comparable to natural childbirth, the birth pangs may become tolerable. There are times when it feels as if there is a long wait between conception and the delivery of the blessing. This is when understanding the steps of birthing a blessing is important, for it aids in the realization of God’s purpose and plan for our lives.
Most Christians are familiar with the life of Zechariah. He fervently prayed to God during his younger years for a child, knowing that the fervent effectual prayer of the righteous avails much. Zechariah probably married around the age of 30. Perhaps after the second or third year of their marriage, he and Elizabeth realized something was wrong. They found that they were not having any children. As they progressed in age, they concluded that they would never have children, or give birth to a blessing. During that time, it was normal to have a child a year after marriage. They were devout, righteous, and faithful people. The couple had been praying and waiting on God for nearly thirty-five years. How many of us are like Zechariah and Elizabeth? Too often, when we receive a promise and the promise is not immediately manifested, we push it aside. Initially, we are filled to the brim with excitement when we learn of the spiritual pregnancy. However, our excitement, when time steps in and delays the birth, fades over time and faith becomes interwoven with doubt and fear. Good News—a delay is not necessarily a denial!
Zechariah had to wait more than thirty-five years for his prayers to be answered. His expectations most likely wavered between high and low. You can imagine him saying year after year, This could be the year.
Finally, the year arrives and pessimism sets in and asks, How could it be since I am so old?
Believers must be mindful of the dangers of murmuring and complaining. Despite their doubt, this was one of those instances where regardless of their faith, the birthing could not have been hastened. It may not always come when you want it, but it will come nevertheless in due season. The child Elizabeth was to give birth to was the forerunner for the Messiah; therefore, the child could not have been birthed until the season had come. It was a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. God had spoken it, and though they had to wait many years, there is a season for everything. There are times, that regardless of how much we fast and pray or how deep our faith may be, we cannot speed up the birthing. However, there are times when we can hinder the process when we allow ourselves to fall into fear and doubt as well as speak negatively about our circumstances. I believe God’s people are in a season of bountiful blessings. However, we must get a better understanding of what a blessing is, the stages of spiritual pregnancy, and how to nurture it so it will fulfill its purpose. There are fundamental truths within this book that will help you in understanding the keys to birthing each blessing God has for you.
This book will unravel important messages and information that we sometimes overlook or ignore, which result in the repeated aborting of blessings. Together, we will examine the link between the natural and the spiritual birthing process. At this point, all the moms in the world are probably asking what is the relationship of spiritual birthing to the pain that is experienced during gestation. You might also wonder how a man, such as I am, have the audacity to compare the concept of a spiritual birth to having to carry a child for nine months, gain weight, not being able to fit into clothes or shoes, eating strange combinations of food, mood swings, not getting a good night’s sleep, and to top it all off—not being able to wear that bathing suit you bought for that special vacation. Men, you are probably thinking, God Bless the Women,
they can have it. News Flash—spiritual birthing is for all believers, and therefore men are not excluded from becoming spiritually pregnant. You may think you do not have to go through the pain women have had to bear during childbirth. Well, what about the time you had cancer and had to go through months of chemotherapy, radiation, and numerous operations while waiting for your blessing of a complete healing to be birthed? Do you remember the pain and trials you went through? Were the pain and trials any less bearable than a woman giving birth to a child? It is not my intent to minimize the importance of women and the role they have played and continue to play in society and in Christendom, for the first heroes in Israel’s story of deliverance from Egypt were not Moses or Aaron. The first ones to heed God, oppose Pharaoh, and deliver the Israelites from a deathly decree were the midwives (Exodus 1:15-21) who dared to defy the decree and stand up for righteousness. Let us examine another story.
We know the story of Adam and Eve; how Eve allowed Satan to entice her into eating the fruit from the tree and Adam went along with the forbidden act. In Genesis 3, we find the punishments both received from God. Because Eve’s punishment was an increase in pain during childbearing, many women blame Eve for the trials they go through during pregnancy. While I understand their mode of thinking, we must also remember Adam played a part in it as well. What is interesting about this story is most of us have missed the awesome love of God at work. Jeannette Rankin wrote, Men and women are like right and left hands: it doesn’t make sense not to use both.
God did exactly that. He used both. God used the woman’s natural birthing process as well
