Juliamae E. Johnson

Juliamae (Julie) Johnson was born at Pinefield, Acklins. She received her early education at the Snug Corner All Age School, Snug Corner, Acklins. In 1976, she attended the College of the Bahamas and graduated with a teacher’s certificate and an associate degree in primary education. In 1989, she received a bachelor of fine arts from the Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida. In 1999, she was afforded the opportunity to further enhance her teaching career and studied at the University of St. Thomas, Freeport Cohort. She obtained a master of arts degree in curriculum and instruction K-12. Juliamae has taught on several islands of the Bahamas for the past forty-one years, (seventeen years in primary and twenty-four years in secondary). In 2000, Julie achieved the honors of becoming a master teacher with the Ministry of Education, Bahamas. Additionally, she is a part-time lecturer at the College of the Bahamas, Freeport Grand Bahamas for the past seven years. To date, she continues to perform at the highest level within the educational system of the Bahamas. In addition to her professional development and qualifications, she served as a principal on the island of Acklins for seven years. Most importantly, Julie is a child of God; one who reverence the Trinity. She has served as a Sunday School Teacher, and also sings in the Choir at her church—First Baptist Church Freeport, Grand Bahamas. Reverend Dr. Keith Russell is presently the Pastor.

Preface

On January 13, 2006, I was awaken and told to read the scriptures. I had had just read my daily devotion from the ‘Daily Bread’ before retiring for the night. This reading led to me turning to Matthew chapter 4, as a part of my desire to read the Bible in a year.

As I closed the BIBLE, verse 3 stuck in my mind. It dealt with the completion of Jesus’ fasting for forty days. Jesus was led by the spirit into the wilderness and the devil came to tempt him. Therefore, the devil, realizing the vulnerability of hunger said, If you be the Son of God command that these stones be made bread.

The following morning, as I awake, I was reminded of Matthew 4:3. In the comfort of my bath, I began to reminisce on the scripture reading. It was at this point that the spirit spoke to me clearly and said, Write a book entitled, MY HOPE: A TRANSFORMING EXPERIENCE. I was instructed to write ten chapters.

I was obedient and began writing instantly. At first, I was puzzled as to what will I include in this book. Again, the spirit said, I will instruct thee.

On January 15, 2006, I went to our church, First Baptist located on Nansen and Columbus Drive, Freeport, Grand Bahama. I believe GOD had instructed Reverend George Cumberbatch
