I left home (Big Rapids, Michigan) at fourteen to begin high school. I completed my BA cum laude from the State of New York. For theology training, I was assigned to the North American College, Vatican City State. This allowed me to experience different cultures through travel. I made my first adult profession of faith in 1971 in St. Peter’s Basilica. I told God, “I will serve You for the rest of my life, whether or not that includes Catholic priesthood.” Six days later, I was back home with my parents, suffering the beginning of a nervous breakdown due to stress. I was hospitalized in 1973 for schizophrenia and again in 1985 for schizoaffective, bipolar type. I no longer live in the past, trying to repeat yesterday.view less
