SECTION ONE
Our experience has proven these things to be true, so listen and learn.
Job 5:27 (Contemporary English Version)
Ten suggestions on how to get the most out of this book
I
want you to benefit from the blessings in this book. Therefore, please I humbly recommend that you allow me to suggest ten major things that you can do to get the most out of this book. This is because:
...every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things....
1 Corinthians 9:25
It is against this backdrop that you need to know the principles that will help you to benefit from effectively giving God a loan. These helpful principles are in the form of suggestions.
SUGGESTION #1
Possess a passionate desire to learn
You need to have a deep, driving desire to learn something new.
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
Proverbs 18:1
I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
Job 36:3
It is said, Where there is a will, there is a way.
Thus, a vigorous determination to learn how to give God a loan will be a sine qua non (a necessary condition) for you to get the most out of this book. It will cause you to separate yourself, and have much time to intermeddle with the wisdom in its pages. This is because you are prudent.
The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
Proverbs 18:15
SUGGESTION #2
Rereading a chapter at least twice before moving to the next
Read each chapter very fast at first to get what it says. You may be tempted to move to the next chapter; but don’t – unless you are reading just for the sake of reading. If not, then I suggest you reread each chapter very well to get the full benefit of each chapter before you move to the next.
Our experience has proven these things to be true, so listen and learn.
Job 5:27 (Contemporary English Version)
Never jump a chapter to another. This is because everything, including understanding the principles of giving God a loan, must be done decently and in order.
Let all things be done decently and in order.
1 Corinthians 14:40
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
FOR PRECEPT MUST BE UPON PRECEPT, PRECEPT UPON PRECEPT; LINE UPON LINE, LINE UPON LINE; HERE A LITTLE, AND THERE A LITTLE:
Isaiah 28:9 – 10
SUGGESTION #3
Meditate on what you have read
BE LIKE THE VIRGIN Mary and ponder over the Word of God in this book in your heart.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Luke 2:19
Pause frequently in your reading to meditate over what you’ve read. This is to allow the digestion
of the knowledge acquired into your being, so that you can benefit from nutrients
of this material.
Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
1 Timothy 4:15
SUGGESTION #4
Highlight what ministers to you
And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, MARK WELL [highlight], and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; and MARK WELL...
Ezekiel 44:5
If you are using the hardcopy of this book, then please have a pencil, a pen, or a highlighter in your hand when reading. God will speak to you through the pages of this book. This is where you quickly mark that statement.
If you are using the softcopy of this book, then it is even easier to highlight important section that God ministers to you.
Marking and highlighting sections of a book make reading interesting and reviewing very easy.
SUGGESTION #5
Make notes in the book of what you have learnt
Keep notes in the passages at the end of this book or in a separate notebook (which is your study book).
These notes should indicate how and when you have applied these principles.
Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen...
Isaiah 8:1
SUGGESTION #6
Make this book a reference book
Make reference to this book as often as you can. You can refer to it weekly, fortnightly or monthly (if you keep schedule). In addition, keep it on your desk in front
